Book excerpt: Women are not the only ones who suffer the consequences of declining hormone levels and associated symptoms. The Clements help men understand their own aging and changing bodies to help them better navigate the changes and still maintain vitality. This book is a man’s education manual about the health effects of hormone imbalance, but just as importantly, it’s a must-read for the women in their life, since it is often the women who inspire and coax men to break through their denial and seek help when they encounter health challenges. That cluster of mid-life hormonal declines is a significant life challenge which all men will eventually face, yet very few of them even realize the condition exists, much less that the vexing symptoms they experience can be remedied. Male menopause (MAN-opause) is a little reported and little understood phenomenon causing irritability, anger, depression, fatigue, weight gain, sexual dysfunction. It is affecting men at younger ages and for far longer in life than ever before. Science has confirmed this emerging phenomenon. Using the latest medical science findings, MAN-opause explains in understandable language how any man---with or without a woman’s participation--can take proactive steps, at any stage of life, to neutralize the impact of andropause and its wide range of debilitating and disturbing symptoms.

  • Publisher : Hay House, Inc

Download or read book Manopause written by Lisa Friedman Bloch and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2012-09-04 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are countless books about menopause on the market. We’ve all accepted that women change at midlife. However, there is another much ignored change that affects hundreds of millions of women across the globe: manopause—the changes that all men go through starting at about age 40. In this groundbreaking book, Lisa Friedman Bloch and Kathy Kirtland Silverman look at men’s changes from a new and uplifting perspective. Aimed at women, Manopause explores how biological and psychological factors collide with the societal pressures men face, and provides advice on how women can help themselves and their men move through and enjoy this sometimes challenging phase. Laying out the commonly accepted rules of what it means to "be a man"—rules like "Your worth is only as great as your power, money, and status," "Push down your emotions," and "Always be aggressive and strong"—the authors explore how men strive to live up to these expectations, and how shouldering this burden becomes harder at midlife. Both physical changes and emotional realizations play in to men’s fear that they are losing their grip. And yet, as the authors explain, it is these very changes that can open the door to a far richer and more fulfilling life. With a goal of creating greater understanding and compassion for the subject of manopause, Bloch and Silverman solidly ground readers with information about men’s changes before guiding them through a practical discussion of how to handle the outward effects they experience. They address emotional reactions, behavioral issues, hormone loss, sex and intimacy, and family and work relationships with an eye to how all can be immeasurably improved. By bringing this topic more into the public eye, they hope to help women and men everywhere learn to better alleviate the confusion, misunderstanding, and discontent of manopause.

Testosterone levels begin to decline in men at the age of 30. But, as this book shows, men can take steps to normalize hormone levels. Solutions they explain include stress management, exercise, nutrition, dietary supplements, and androgen replacement therapy. Conventional treatments are also covered, as are potential side effects of actions men may take. Book How to Cope with Male Menopause

Download or read book How to Cope with Male Menopause written by Treat Preston and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-03-02 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How To Cope with Male Menopause - The Andropause Mystery Revealed is all about the controversial subject of male menopause or “andropause”. It discusses in detail what is male menopause, male menopause symptoms, male menopause treatment, andropause, HRT or hormone replacement therapy, and hormone imbalance.Women may not be the only ones who suffer the effects of changing hormones. Some doctors are noticing that men are reporting some of the same symptoms that women experience in perimenopause and menopause. The medical community is debating whether or not men really do go through a well-defined menopause. Doctors say that men receiving hormone therapy with testosterone have reported relief of some of the symptoms associated with so-called male menopause. Because men do not go through a well-defined period referred to as menopause, some doctors refer to this problem as androgen (testosterone) decline in the aging male -- or what some people call low testosterone. Men do experience a decline in the production of the male hormone testosterone with aging, but this also occurs with conditions such as diabetes.Get all of the facts in “How To Cope with Male Menopause - The Andropause Mystery Revealed”!

Book Men O Pause and Ponder

Download or read book Men O Pause and Ponder written by Steve McEwen and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2021-04-26 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not a scientific or a medically researched piece of work, deliberately not so! It tells the stories of four modern day men in a humorous, fictional context, to promote discussion and to raise awareness and acceptance of the Male Menopause condition. The behaviour of the Male members of the human species is based on three founding instincts, all beginning with the letter ‘P’. They are Provision, Protection and Procreation. Going back to the origins of the human species, our male forefathers were active hunters and latterly farmers, ensuring food was provided for their families. They also developed weapons and built homes to protect their families and were driven by sexual urges to procreate with their female counterparts. So how do these founding instincts translate into the behaviours of modern man? The stories in this book are based on the lives of four fictional males - John, Tony, Paul and Steve. They follow the development and experiences of these males from children to young men, through to adulthood and into old age. These stories suggest that adult male behaviour is determined at an early stage in child development, that these formative years are all important in helping us understand why certain issues are important to us in our adult lives. This is particularly relevant in boys, to understand and debate their intriguing journey through into manhood and then those twilight years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Through the 21st Century Looking Glass" - USA Today by Grady Harp "Mel Mathews is a sensitive observer of the human condition, with an emphasis on the Male Human Condition of our time. He has created a character in Malcolm Clay that is a baby boomer Holden Caulfield, a variation on John Updike's Rabbit Angstrom, and he manages to take us by the hand and lead us through the bumpy terrain of current interpersonal relationships as well as anyone writing today."We first met Malcolm Clay in Mathew's first novel Chronicles of a Wandering Soul: Book 1- 'LeRoi' as a middle aged man trapped in a successful but boring occupation who becomes stranded in a dusty little truck stop where he is forced to slow his pace to adjust to the fertile characters he created there. Well, now Malcolm is living in Carmel, California, having been divorced, forgoing his childhood entrapping religious heritage, traipsing through many brief and physically oriented affairs while deciding to change his life as an alcoholic tractor salesman to that of a reformed AA writer ('..he didn't think anyone should be called an addict, alcoholic, codependent, or any other of the pathologized clinical diagnosis that propelled a person into another lie'). His existence is populated in this gorgeous coastline area of California by all manner of women and men whose connection to life is through tenuous strings tied to fairly shallow buoys. Most of the novel is conversational, with Malcolm discovering the intrinsic personality defects of characters ranging from his landlady Mrs. Shams to men on the make to physical therapist Jenny who manages to keep a physical distance between the lusty but controlled Malcolm and her fragile, purging diet, Zen-like self. This is a journey so well written that the novel calls for pause to enjoy the sheer ebullience of the verbiage. Mel Mathews is a fine writer, finding his way through life in these times. He is a reliable companion on the trek we all are taking. And now on to the next volume in the series, Chronicles of a Wandering Soul: Book 3 - 'SamSara', addictively!
