Book Man an Organic Community Vol 1 of 2

Download or read book Man an Organic Community Vol 1 of 2 written by John H. King and published by . This book was released on 2016-06-22 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Man an Organic Community, Vol. 1 of 2: Being an Exposition of the Law That the Human Personality in All Its Phases in Evolution, Both Co-Ordinate and Discordinate, Is the Multiple of Many Sub-Personalities There are some who are unable to associate these diverse forms of expression with an ever singleness of purpose, singleness of conformation in the one human personality, and who conceive that the individual personality in each diverse presentation represents distinct combinations of its many faculties and powers, each group representing the activities of a state, not of a self-contained individual, each part of which has its own individual duties, its special range of relations, and special forms of combination. Thus in each organic co-ordination there are not only the ruling and working sub-personalities of an individual character, there are the associate actions of combined and representa tive personalities, the same as in a state and as in a state one personality may be attached to another personality as a check, so diverse organic attributes check other organic attributes, and regulate the general state equipoise by their varied interactions. As with the organic so with the mental attributes: These work collectively, they work individually, they work as committees in sets, and the associate relations are ever changing. The co-ordinate individual is built up of a distinct combination of its many forces, any one or more of which may pass out of co-ordination, and the faculty thus expressed may be lost, reverted, or rendered dormant, as if encysted, the human personality continuing to present all these attributes that at the time are in active co-ordination. Book Organic Community mersion Emergent Village resources for communities of faith

Download or read book Organic Community mersion Emergent Village resources for communities of faith written by Joseph R. Myers and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2007-05-01 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Community is a fundamental life search and one of the key aspects people look for in a congregation. But community can't be forced, controlled, or easily created. The problem, says Joseph R. Myers, is that churches are too focused on developing programs instead of concentrating on environments where community will spontaneously emerge. Organic Community challenges key leaders to become environmentalists--people who create or shape environments. Outlining nine organizational tools for creating a healthy environment, Myers shows readers how to diagnose their current situation and implement patterns that will develop possibilities for healthy communities.

Book Putting Psychology in its Place

Download or read book Putting Psychology in its Place written by Graham Richards and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-07-19 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fourth edition of Putting Psychology in Its Place builds on the previous three in introducing the history of Psychology and placing the discipline within its historical and social contexts. Written by esteemed Psychologists Graham Richards and Paul Stenner, this crucial text aims both to answer and raise questions about the role of Psychology in modern society by critically examining issues such as how Psychology developed and why psychoanalysis had such an impact. It discusses enduring underlying conceptual problems and examines how the discipline has changed to deal with contemporary social issues such as religion, race and gender. The fourth edition features revised and updated chapters, though the core structure remains unchanged. The final chapter has been restructured and jointly re-written. This text was written to remain compatible with the British Psychological Society requirements for undergraduate courses and is imaginatively written and accessible to all. Putting Psychology in Its Place is an invaluable introductory text for undergraduate students of the history of Psychology and will also appeal to postgraduates, academics and anyone interested in Psychology or the history of science.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In all religions, in the medieval West as in the East, ideas about the past, the present and the future were shaped by expectations related to the End. The volumes Cultures of Eschatology explore the many ways apocalyptic thought and visions of the end intersected with the development of pre-modern religio-political communities, with social changes and with the emergence of new intellectual and literary traditions. The two volumes present a wide variety of case studies from the early Christian communities of Antiquity, through the times of the Islamic invasion and the Crusades and up to modern receptions, from the Latin West to the Byzantine Empire, from South Yemen to the Hidden Lands of Tibetan Buddhism. Examining apocalypticism, messianism and eschatology in medieval Christian, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist communities, the contributions paint a multi-faceted picture of End-Time scenarios and provide their readers with a broad array of source material from different historical contexts. The first volume, Empires and Scriptural Authorities, examines the formation of literary and visual apocalyptic traditions, and the role they played as vehicles for defining a community’s religious and political enemies. The second volume, Time, Death and Afterlife, focuses on key topics of eschatology: death, judgment, afterlife and the perception of time and its end. It also analyses modern readings and interpretations of eschatological concepts.
