Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2009 Symposium on Component-Based Software Engineering (CBSE 2009) was the 12thin a series ofsuccessful eventsthat havegrowninto the main forum for industrial and academic experts to discuss component technology. Component-based software engineering (CBSE) has emerged as the under- ing technology for the assembly of ?exible software systems. In essence, CBSE is about composing computational building blocks to construct larger building blocks that ful?ll client needs. Most software engineers are involved in some form of component-based development. Nonetheless, the implications of CBSE adoption are wide-reaching and its challenges grow in tandem with its uptake, continuing to inspire our scienti?c speculation. Component-based development necessarily involves elements of software - chitecture, modular software design, software veri?cation, testing, con?guration and deployment. This year’s submissions represent a cross-section of CBSE - search that touches upon all these aspects. The theoretical foundations of c- ponent speci?cation, composition, analysis, and veri?cation continue to pose research challenges. What exactly constitutes an adequate semantics for c- munication and composition so that bigger things can be built from smaller things? How can formal approaches facilitate predictable assembly through b- ter analysis? We have grouped the proceedings into two sub-themes that deal with these issues: component models and communication and composition. At the same time, the world is changing.
Download or read book Component Based Rails Applications written by Stephan Hagemann and published by Addison-Wesley Professional. This book was released on 2018-06-22 with total page 557 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Use Components to Improve Maintainability, Reduce Complexity, and Accelerate Testing in Large Rails Applications “This book gives Ruby pros a comprehensive guide for increasing the sophistication of their designs, without having to forsake the principles of elegance that keep them in our corner of the software world.” —Obie Fernandez, author, The RailsTM 5 Way, Fourth Edition As Rails applications grow, even experienced developers find it difficult to navigate code bases, implement new features, and keep tests fast. Components are the solution, and Component-Based Rails Applications shows how to make the most of them. Writing for programmers and software team leads who are comfortable with Ruby and Rails, Stephan Hagemann introduces a practical, start-to-finish methodology for modernizing and restructuring existing Rails applications. One step at a time, Hagemann demonstrates how to revamp Rails applications to exhibit visible, provably independent, and explicitly connected parts—thereby simplifying them and making them far easier for teams to manage, change, and test. Throughout, he introduces design concepts and techniques you can use to improve applications of many kinds, even if they weren’t built with Rails or Ruby. Learn how components clarify intent, improve collaboration, and simplify innovation and maintenance Create a full Rails application within a component, from first steps to migrations and dependency management Test component-based applications, manage assets and dependencies, and deploy your application to production Identify the seams in an existing Rails application, and refactor it to extract components Master a scripted, repeatable approach for refactoring Rails applications of any size Use component-based Rails with two popular structural patterns: hexagonal and DCI architecture Leverage your new component skills with other frameworks and languages Overcome the unique challenges that arise as you componentize Rails applications If you’re ready to simplify and revitalize your complex Rails systems, you’re ready for Component-Based Rails Applications. Download or read book Certifications of Critical Systems The CECRIS Experience written by Andrea Bondavalli and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-09-01 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, a considerable amount of effort has been devoted, both in industry and academia, to the development, validation and verification of critical systems, i.e. those systems whose malfunctions or failures reach a critical level both in terms of risks to human life as well as having a large economic impact.Certifications of Critical Systems – The CECRIS Experience documents the main insights on Cost Effective Verification and Validation processes that were gained during work in the European Research Project CECRIS (acronym for Certification of Critical Systems). The objective of the research was to tackle the challenges of certification by focusing on those aspects that turn out to be more difficult/important for current and future critical systems industry: the effective use of methodologies, processes and tools. The CECRIS project took a step forward in the growing field of development, verification and validation and certification of critical systems. It focused on the more difficult/important aspects of critical system development, verification and validation and certification process. Starting from both the scientific and industrial state of the art methodologies for system development and the impact of their usage on the verification and validation and certification of critical systems, the project aimed at developing strategies and techniques supported by automatic or semi-automatic tools and methods for these activities, setting guidelines to support engineers during the planning of the verification and validation phases.
Download or read book Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Dependability and Complex Systems DepCoS RELCOMEX June 30 July 4 2014 Brun w Poland written by Wojciech Zamojski and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-16 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DepCoS – RELCOMEX is an annual series of conferences organized by Wrocław University of Technology to promote a comprehensive approach to evaluation of system performability which is now commonly called dependability. In contrast to classic analyses which were concentrated on reliability of technical resources and structures built from them, dependability is based on multi-disciplinary approach to theory, technology and maintenance of a system considered to be a multifaceted amalgamation of technical, information, organization, software and human (users, administrators, supervisors, etc.) resources. Diversity of processes being realized (data processing, system management, system monitoring, etc.), their concurrency and their reliance on in-system intelligence often severely impedes construction of strict mathematical models and calls for application of intelligent and soft computing methods. This book presents the proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Dependability and Complex Systems DepCoS-RELCOMEX, which took place in Brunów Palace, Poland, from 30th June to 4th July, 2014. The articles selected for this volume illustrate the variety of topics that must be included in system dependability analysis: tools, methodologies and standards for modelling, design and simulation of the systems, security and confidentiality in information processing, specific issues of heterogeneous, today often wireless, computer networks or management of transportation networks.

Book excerpt: The present study has been accepted as a doctoral thesis by the Depart ment of Economics of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main. It grew out from my five year long participation in two research projects, "Econometric analysis of transaction intensity and volatility on fi nancial markets", and "Microstructure on financial markets", that were both conducted by the chair of Statistics and Econometrics (Empirical Economic Research) at the Department of Economics and Business Administration, Jo hann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main and financed by the state of Hessen. During this time I have benefitted from many people. First and foremost I would like to thank my thesis supervisor, Prof. Dr. Reinhard Hujer, for initiating and supporting my studies with great encouragement. I am also very grateful to Prof. Dr. Christian Schlag for acting as the second thesis supervisor. Furthermore, I wish to thank Prof. Dr. Joachim Grammig who introduced me to the topics covered in this study in the first place and helped me to sharpen my views on econometrics and financial market microstructure theory through many discussions and also through his willingness to work with me on several related studies.
