Book Emerging Trends in Psychology Law Communication Studies Culture Religion and Literature in the Global Digital Revolution

Download or read book Emerging Trends in Psychology Law Communication Studies Culture Religion and Literature in the Global Digital Revolution written by Yulianto Budi Setiawan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-02-25 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fourth Industrial Revolution has the potential to raise global income levels and improve the quality of life for populations around the world. Technology development of AI, self-driving, big data, the Internet of things, and many digital revolutions have changed how people interact with each other. Therefore, developing a comprehensive and globally shared view of how technology is affecting our lives and reshaping our social, cultural, and human environments is essential. There has never been a time of more significant promise, or one of greater potential peril. Today’s decision-makers, however, are too often trapped in traditional, linear thinking, or too absorbed by the multiple crises demanding their attention, to think strategically about the forces of disruption and innovation shaping our future. The main goal of the conference was to provide an outlet for papers discussing the importance and impact of industrial revolution 4.0 to influence social aspect in human life. The proceedings consist of papers covering issues on psychology, law, communication studies, culture, religion, and literature. The proceedings will provide the latest research and constitute a concise but timely medium for the dissemination. The Proceedings of the 1st International Conference on Social Sciences Series (SOSCIS 2019) will be invaluable to professionals and academics in psychology, law, communication studies, culture, religion, and literature.

Book Recent Trends in Theoretical Psychology

Download or read book Recent Trends in Theoretical Psychology written by Henderikus J. Stam and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was asked and, alas, with little reflection on the magnitude of the task, thoughtlessly consented, to take on the 'simple' job of writing a preface to the collection of essays comprising this volume. That I was asked to carry out this simple task was probably due to one consideration: I was the main representative of the host institution (Clark University) for the 1991 ISTP Conference, at which the talks, foreshadowing and outlining the 'extended remarks' here printed, were originally presented, and hence, as a token of gratitude, I was vouchsafed the honor of setting the stage. It did not dawn on me, until I began piecemeal to receive and accumulate, over a period of months, the remarkably diverse and heterogeneous essays precipitated by the conference, how mind-boggling it would be to pen a preface pertinent to such an aggregate of prima/acie unrelated articles. Typically, prefaces to collections of essays from different hands are attempts by the prefator or a pride of prefators to provide an overview, a concise map, of the complex terrain which readers are invited to enter; or to direct the attention of potential readers to what the editors take to be the essential or central themes of each of the variegated articles: a practice which, not infrequently and often not unjustifiably, irritates and even enrages individual authors, who object to the complexity, profundity, and nuanced character of their thought being reduced to clicMs and editorial equivalents of sound bites.

Book excerpt: `This is a competently edited, reader-friendly publication which fills a previously empty niche in the market. Every applied psychologist should have a copy well within arm's length' - British Journal of Educational Psychology Applied Psychology: Current Issues and New Directions is an exciting new textbook and a perfect resource for students taking either a focussed degree in applied psychology or a module as part of a wider psychology degree program. Given its breadth of coverage it should also be essential background reading on courses looking in depth at one of the many areas of professional psychological practice. The book is divided into two parts. In Part One, the book reviews the traditional branches of applied psychology (i.e. clinical, educational and occupational psychology); some relative newcomers (counselling psychology, forensic and health psychology); and some less obvious areas (careers guidance, counselling, academia) addressing such issues as training, future trends and developments within each field. Part Two offers discussion of more generic issues facing professional psychologists including the role of research and evidence-based practice in everyday work; trends in higher education; and continuing professional development. The book concludes with a `Round-Table' discussion involving leading psychologists commenting on trends and new directions in their respective fields. Key features of this book: - Consistently pedagogical throughout - chapter summaries, questions for reflection and discussion and annotated further reading in every chapter - Comprehensive coverage - all areas of applied psychology included - Related to the `real world' - by reviewing the issues and offering practical advice, this text should help prospective applied psychologists make informed decisions about their careers.

Book Time Series in Psychology

Download or read book Time Series in Psychology written by R. A.M. Gregson and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2014-05-22 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1983. Psychological data are segments of life histories; as such they are ordered sequences of observations and by definition time series. Yet they are often anything but well behaved; what regularities and invariances they have are buried from all but the most persistent investigator. The most common methods of representing quantitative results in psychology are frozen outside time; thus they deliberately average out much of the sequential structure that holds any sparse clues to the nature of processes within the organism. This review, whose simple aim is to bring together in an illuminating juxtaposition on basic results in both time series analysis and in experimental psychology, thus. cuts across traditions within psychology.
