Book Magnetostatic Surface Waves on a Cylinder

Download or read book Magnetostatic Surface Waves on a Cylinder written by James C. Sethares and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rotation rate sensors have important applications in navigation and guidance control systems. An investigation of magnetostatic surface waves (MSSW) in yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films on cylindrical surfaces was undertaken as a first step in fabricating a new type of rotation rate sensor recently proposed at AFCRL. The sensor employs magnetic (or acoustic) waves in a ring laser type configuration.

Book Introduction to Surface and Superlattice Excitations

Download or read book Introduction to Surface and Superlattice Excitations written by Michael G. Cottam and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1989-04-06 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cottam and Tilley provide an introduction to the properties of wave-like excitations associated with surfaces and interfaces. The emphasis is on acoustic, optic and magnetic excitations, and, apart from one section on liquid surfaces, the text concentrates on solids. The important topic of superlattices is also discussed, in which the different kinds of excitation are considered from a unified point of view. Throughout the book the authors are careful to relate theory and experiment and all of the most important experimental techniques are described. The theoretical treatment assumes only a knowledge of undergraduate physics, except for Green function methods that are used in a few sections; these methods are developed in an appendix. The book also contains extensive references to enable the reader to consult the research and review literature, and problems are provided in each of the main chapters to allow the reader to develop topics presented in the text.

Book excerpt: NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.

Book Magnetization Oscillations and Waves

Download or read book Magnetization Oscillations and Waves written by Alexander G. Gurevich and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-12-17 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by two well-known researchers in the field, this useful reference takes an applied approach to high frequency processes including oscillations and waves in ferromagnets, antiferromagnets, and ferrimagnets. Problems evaluated include ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic resonances, spin waves, nonlinear processes, and high frequency manifestations of interactions between the magnetic system and other systems of magnetically ordered substances as elastic waves and charge carriers. Unlike previous monographs on this subject, which are highly theoretical and written for very advanced readers, this book requires only an average college background in mathematics and experimental physics. It will be a valuable addition to the library of engineers and scientists in research and development for communications applications, and scientists interested in nonlinear magnetic phenomena. It also serves as an excellent introduction to the topic for newcomers in the field. Magnetization Oscillations and Waves not only presents results but also shows readers how to obtain them; most formulas are derived with so many details that readers can reproduce them. The book includes many summaries and tables and detailed references to significant work in the area by European researchers.

Book Microwave Propagation in Ferrimagnetics

Download or read book Microwave Propagation in Ferrimagnetics written by M. S. Sodha and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last three decades, interest in the field of interaction of microwaves with ferrimagnetics has steadily increased. Investigations in tlris field have led to the development of a number of devices used for a variety of applications. The initial emphasis of the investigators was on the microwave behavior of ferrimagnetics placed in cavities and metallic waveguides and associated devices. This work has been presented in various books, monographs, and reviews written during the sixties. In recent years, interest in microwave propagation in ferrimagnetics has shifted from loaded waveguides to relatively new areas, e. g. , magnetostatic and magnetoelastic waves in layered structures, microwave propagation in ferrimagnetic strip lines and microstrips, etc. Such investigations are important from the viewpoint of devices such as delay lines, filters, convolvers, guided wave amplifiers, striplines, and microstrip phase shif ters, circulators, edge guided mode isolators, etc. As such, we feit the need for a text (meant for graduate students starting work in these areas as weil as practicing electrical engineers and applied physicists) which presents a coherent account of the various aspects of propagation of microwaves (electromagnetic as weil as magnetoelastic) in biased ferrimagnetics and discusses the relatively recent developments in the theory and operation of the aforementioned devices, and this book is the result. A biased ferrimagnetic is, in the mathematical sense, a complicated medium, electromagnetically as weil as elastically.

Book Antennas in Inhomogeneous Media

Download or read book Antennas in Inhomogeneous Media written by Janis Galejs and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Antennas in Inhomogeneous Media details the methods of analyzing antennas in such inhomogeneous media. The title covers the complex geometrical configurations along with its variational formulations. The coverage of the text includes various conditions the antennas are subjected to, such as antennas in the interface between two media; antennas in compressible isotropic plasma; and linear antennas in a magnetoionic medium. The selection also covers insulated loops in lossy media; slot antennas with a stratified dielectric or isotropic plasma layers; and cavity-backed slot antennas. The book will be of great use to electrical, communications, and radio engineers.
