Download or read book Magnetohydrodynamic Flow Past a Thin Airfoil Classic Reprint written by E. Cumberbatch and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-10 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Magnetohydrodynamic Flow Past a Thin Airfoil The solution, however, is not unique and in Section 4 an uniqueness condition analogous to the kutta-joukowsky condition is proposed.(4) Similar to subsonic fluid dynamics, functions may be added which are singular at the ends of the body, by which means the singularity at either end of the body may be suppressed. The dual nature of the hyperliptic regime is evident in the fact that the singularities on the body are also propagated into the fluid along the real characteristics, and this feature is used to determine a physically acceptable uniqueness condition. The condition proposed ensures the square integrability of the flow variables over any region of the fluid. The line singularities remaining in the solution result from a breakdown of the linear analysis used and the solutions in the neighborhood of these singularities may not provide good pointwise approximations to the correct solution. On the other hand, they may give an indication of the formation of shocks. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Extension of the M2 and the Thin wing Expansion Methods to Magnetohydrodynamics

Download or read book Extension of the M2 and the Thin wing Expansion Methods to Magnetohydrodynamics written by Kinzo Hida and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the basis of a reduced equation for steady, twodimensional flow of a perfectly conducting gas with an aligned magnetic field, the M(2)- expansion method as well as the thin-wing-expansion method are extended to include the effect of a magnetic field. General formulae obtained by both methods remain unchanged, except that the parameters involved are redefined. The transonic thin-airfoil theory is also modified for magnetohydrodynamical flow and it is found that the same similarity rule for the flow past a slender body holds for both nonmagnetic and magnetic cases with the proper alteration of the parameters. Book Hyperliptic Magnetohydrodynamic Steady Flow Past a Point Source

Download or read book Hyperliptic Magnetohydrodynamic Steady Flow Past a Point Source written by Stanley Friedlander and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-21 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Hyperliptic Magnetohydrodynamic Steady Flow Past a Point Source: March 1970 New dependent variables are introduced which separate the flow into transverse and compressive components. The transverse component is propagated one - dimensionally with the Alfven velocity. The determination of the compressive component is reduced to finding the fundamental solution of a fourth order homogeneous differential equation with constant coefficients. The solution is required to satisfy smoothness and causality conditions and a condition on the growth at infinity. Book The Magnetohydrodynamic Flow Past a Nonconducting Flat Plate in the Presence of a Transverse Magnetic Field

Download or read book The Magnetohydrodynamic Flow Past a Nonconducting Flat Plate in the Presence of a Transverse Magnetic Field written by Donald Martin Dix and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetohydrodynamic flow past a nonconducting flat plate in the presence of transverse magnetic fields is analyzed. The appropriate extension of the Rayleigh problem to the magnetohydrodynamic case yields solutions which correctly predict some features of the steady flow past a semi-infinite flat plate; in addition, the knowledge of these significant features permits an easy evaluation of their magnitudes in other extensions of the Rayleigh problem. The flow past a semi-infinite flat plate is analyzed by two methods. First, by linearizing the governing equations and incorporating the assumption of a low ratio of viscous to magnetic diffusivity, the results for skin friction and the normal component of magnetic field at the plate are obtained, and are shown to be useful in interpreting the character of these low conductivity flows. Second, the complete set of governing equations is formulated as a finite difference problem and solved numerically on a digital computer. The results obtained show that the disturbance produced by the plate is no longer confined to a thin viscous layer if the ratio of viscous to magnetic diffusivity is greater than 1/100, but that an appreciable Alfven type disturbance is excited. Book excerpt: The study of the MHD flow with heat transfer is a new offshoot of mathematics currently receiving considerable interest. It has wide applications in Geophysics, Astrophysics, Engineering, Aeronautics. The essence of MHD comprises models which help to arrive at optimum decisions. These models constitute the subject of this book. The book considers the problems of the MHD flow with heat transfer. It is written for postgraduate students of Mathematics, Physics,& Engineering.
