Book Magnetically and Capillary Driven Grain Boundary Motion in Zinc Bicrystals

Download or read book Magnetically and Capillary Driven Grain Boundary Motion in Zinc Bicrystals written by Christoph Günster and published by Cuvillier Verlag. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Materials Processing In Magnetic Fields Proceedings Of The International Workshop On Materials Analysis And Processing In Magnetic Fields

Download or read book Materials Processing In Magnetic Fields Proceedings Of The International Workshop On Materials Analysis And Processing In Magnetic Fields written by Hans J Schneider-muntau and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005-07-27 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Processing in magnetic fields is a rapidly expanding research area with a wide range of promising applications in materials science, development and design. Numerous research centers dedicated to materials research and processing in magnetic fields have been created around the world. This volume brings together contributions from these centers to review the most recent activities in this field. The papers in this book cover a broad spectrum of research of the effects on magnetic fields in materials processing. The cutting-edge research topics include magnetic levitation of diamagnetic matter and its applications; anisotropy, used for aligning fibers, polymers, and carbon nanotubes; texturing of materials during a phase transition, in both liquid-to-solid and solid-to-solid state transitions; grain boundary migration and mobility changes, giving us a perspective for texture development in metals; and the damping effect of magnetic fields on conductive liquids, which has been exploited for improved crystal growth quality. Of growing interest are the effects of magnetic fields in biology, and their beneficial applications for medical treatments.

Book Textures of Materials ICOTOM 13

Download or read book Textures of Materials ICOTOM 13 written by Dong Nyung Lee and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 1040 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Texture is a fundamental material characteristic which results from the microstructural evolution that takes place during various processes, including the thermomechanical deformation of materials. Therefore, texture-related phenomena will continue to be of great importance, because of their scientific interest as well as their effect upon industrial applications, in the 21st century. This volume deals with all of the themes which are related to texture phenomena in both conventional and advanced materials, including: ceramics, thin films, polymers, nanocrystalline materials, rocks and composites. The papers cover various texture-related fields: quantitative texture analysis, experimental measurement, modeling, micro-texture analysis, deformation textures, recrystallization and grain growth textures, anisotropic properties, textures in steels, textures in Al and Al-Alloys, textures in thin films, and textures in ceramics, intermetallics and polymers, etc.
