Book Electrical Machines Diagnosis

Download or read book Electrical Machines Diagnosis written by Jean-Claude Trigeassou and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-02-07 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Monitoring and diagnosis of electrical machine faults is a scientific and economic issue which is motivated by objectives for reliability and serviceability in electrical drives. This book provides a survey of the techniques used to detect the faults occurring in electrical drives: electrical, thermal and mechanical faults of the electrical machine, faults of the static converter and faults of the energy storage unit. Diagnosis of faults occurring in electrical drives is an essential part of a global monitoring system used to improve reliability and serviceability. This diagnosis is performed with a large variety of techniques: parameter estimation, state observation, Kalman filtering, spectral analysis, neural networks, fuzzy logic, artificial intelligence, etc. Particular emphasis in this book is put on the modeling of the electrical machine in faulty situations. Electrical Machines Diagnosis presents original results obtained mainly by French researchers in different domains. It will be useful as a guideline for the conception of more robust electrical machines and indeed for engineers who have to monitor and maintain electrical drives. As the monitoring and diagnosis of electrical machines is still an open domain, this book will also be very useful to researchers.

Download or read book Non conventional Electrical Machines written by Abderrezak Rezzoug and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-02-04 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The developments of electrical machines are due to the convergence of material progress, improved calculation tools, and new feeding sources. Among the many recent machines, the authors have chosen, in this first book, to relate the progress in slow speed machines, high speed machines, and superconducting machines. The first part of the book is dedicated to materials and an overview of magnetism, mechanic, and heat transfer.

Book Rotating Electrical Machines

Download or read book Rotating Electrical Machines written by René Le Doeuff and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-04 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book a general matrix-based approach to modeling electrical machines is promulgated. The model uses instantaneous quantities for key variables and enables the user to easily take into account associations between rotating machines and static converters (such as in variable speed drives). General equations of electromechanical energy conversion are established early in the treatment of the topic and then applied to synchronous, induction and DC machines. The primary characteristics of these machines are established for steady state behavior as well as for variable speed scenarios. Important new applications for this technology (such as wind turbines, electric propulsion systems for large ships, etc.) are addressed and the book is illustrated with a large number of informative and detailed photographs, provided by various companies at the leading edge of research and applications in the field.

Book Modern Permanent Magnet Electric Machines

Download or read book Modern Permanent Magnet Electric Machines written by Jacek F. Gieras and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-12-05 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The late 1980s saw the beginning of the PM brushless machine era, with the invention of high-energy density permanent magnets (PM) and the development of power electronics. Although induction motors are now the most popular electric motors, the impact of PM brushless machines on electromechanical drives is significant. Today, PM machines come second to induction machines. Replacement of electromagnetic field excitation systems by PMs brings the following benefits: No electrical energy is absorbed by the field excitation system and thus there are no excitation losses, causing substantial increase in efficiency Higher power density (kW/kg) and/or torque density (Nm/kg) than electromagnetic excitation Better dynamic performance than motors with electromagnetic excitation (higher magnetic flux density in the air gap) Simplification of construction and maintenance Less expensive for some types of machines Modern Permanent Magnet Electric Machines: Theory and Control serves as a textbook for undergraduate power engineering students who want to supplement and expand their knowledge in the fundamentals of magnetism, soft magnetic materials, permanent magnets (PMs), calculation of magnetic circuits with PMs, modern PM brushed DC machines and their controls, modern PM brushless DC motors and drive control, and modern PM generators. The book can help students learn more about electrical machines and can serve as a prescribed text for teaching elective undergraduate courses such as modern permanent magnet electrical machines. Since the book is written in a simple scientific language and without redundant mathematics, it can also be used by practicing engineers and managers employed in electrical machinery or electromagnetic device industries.

Book Control Methods for Electrical Machines

Download or read book Control Methods for Electrical Machines written by Rene Husson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The type of control system used for electrical machines depends on the use (nature of the load, operating states, etc.) to which the machine will be put. The precise type of use determines the control laws which apply. Mechanics are also very important, because they affect performance. Another factor of essential importance in industrial applications is operating safety. Finally, the problem of how to control a number of different machines, whose interactions and outputs must be coordinated, is addressed and solutions are presented. These and other issues are addressed here by a range of expert contributors, each of whom are specialists in their particular field. This book is primarily aimed at those involved in complex systems design, but engineers in a range of related fields such as electrical engineering, instrumentation and control, and industrial engineering, will also find this a useful source of information.

Book Electrical Actuators

Download or read book Electrical Actuators written by Bernard de Fornel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-04 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The different chapters of this book cover a large range of information regarding electrical actuators, including: synchronous and asynchronous machine modeling in order to measure and identify offline and online parameters using modern optimization methods; identification in real time of parameters with Luenberger filter and the extended Kalman filter; estimation of non-measurable variables, first by linear estimates and observers, then by lower observers. Robustness is a very problematic issue, as well, which is fully explored in a chapter dedicated to the subject. Finally, the estimate of non-measurable mechanical variables is particularly dealt with: estimate of load moment, then observation of the positioning of a command without mechanical sensor. The conditions to measure variables and real implementation of numerical algorithms are also examined with particular attention.
