Book Gods Of The Egyptians 2 Vols

Download or read book Gods Of The Egyptians 2 Vols written by E. A. Wallis Budge and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-28 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 2005. By far the most thorough, most useful coverage of the gods of Ancient Egypt is this book by Dr. Budge of the British Museum, one of the foremost Egyptologists of the century. In it is presented practically everything known about the high gods, the local gods, demigods, demons, and mythological figures of Khem. This title is the second volume of a two-part series, which covers research and information on Egyptian mythology and culture. It provides full information on the origins of the ancient religion; its peculiarly Egyptian aspects; evolution of cults, rites, and gods; the priesthoods; the heretical aberration of Ikhnaten and the Aten cult; the cult of Osiris; the Book of the Dead and its rites; the sacred animals and birds; heaven and hell, and much other secret wisdom that has been discovered hidden in mummy cases or written on tomb walls. Richly illustrated, with many reproductions of tomb and mummy-case paintings, with many full texts are presented, with both hieroglyphs and translation. Dr. Budge's book is a standard work in the history of religion. It is also a most useful background book for anyone seriously interested in the life and thought of Ancient Egypt, an explicator of many of the obscurer passages in the Book of Dead.

Book The Book of the Kings of Egypt Routledge Revivals

Download or read book The Book of the Kings of Egypt Routledge Revivals written by E. A. Wallis Budge and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-02-03 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sir E. A. Wallis Budge (1857-1934) was Keeper of the British Museum’s department of oriental antiquities from 1894 until his retirement in 1924. Carrying out many missions to Egypt in search of ancient objects, Budge was hugely successful in collecting papyri, statues and other artefacts for the trustees of the British Museum: numbering into the thousands and of great cultural and historical significance. Budge published well over 100 monographs, which shaped the development of future scholarship and are still of great academic value today, dealing with subjects such as Egyptian religion, history and literature. First published in 1908, this is the second of two volumes dealing with the kings of Egypt. Using a variety of material from the British Library’s extensive collections, Budge meticulously collated the names of the Pharaohs and royal personages from the 20th to the 30th Dynasties of Egypt. With a detailed discussion concerning Egyptian chronology, this classic work will be of great interest and value to scholars and students of Ancient Egyptian history and archaeology.

Book The Hidden Life in Freemasonry

Download or read book The Hidden Life in Freemasonry written by Charles Webster Leadbeater and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 1926 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Masonic fellowship differs from all other societies in that candidates for membership have to join it blindfold, and cannot receive much information about it until they actually enter its ranks. Even then the majority of Masons usually obtain only the most general idea of the meaning of its ceremonies, and seldom penetrate further than an elementary moral interpretation of its principal symbols. In this book it is the object, while preserving due secrecy upon those matters which must be kept secret, to explain something of the deeper meaning and purpose of Freemasonry, in the hope of arousing among the Brn. a more profound reverence for that of which they are the custodians and a fuller understanding of the mysteries of the Craft. Although the book is primarily intended for the instruction of members of the Co-Masonic Order, whose desire, as is expressed in their ritual, is to pour the waters of esoteric knowledge into the Masonic vessels, the author hopes nevertheless that it may appeal to a wider circle, and may perhaps be of use to some of those many Brn. in the masculine Craft who are seeking for a deeper interpretation of Masonic symbolism than is given in the majority of their Lodges, showing them that in the ritual which they know and love so well are enshrined splendid ideals and deep spiritual teachings which are of the most absorbing interest to the student of the inner side of life.

Book The Egyptian Book of the Dead

Download or read book The Egyptian Book of the Dead written by E. A. Wallis Budge and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of the Dead: The Papyrus of Ani is the Book of the Dead for Ani, the scribe from Thebes, and is "the largest, the most perfect, the best preserved, and the best illuminated of all the papyri," according to editor and translator E.A. Wallis Budge. "Books of the Dead" were ancient Egyptian funeral texts, employed from around 1550 B.C. to 50 B.C., intended to help the dead pass through the underworld into the afterlife with magic spells and inscriptions which were written on papyrus scrolls and placed in the coffin. The Papyrus of Ani is a key scroll in understanding Egyptian Books of the Dead, and this text is ideal for those interested in the early discovery and translation of Egyptian hieroglyphics. This is the original 1895 edition and includes the full version of The Papyrus of Ani. SIR ERNEST ALFRED THOMPSON WALLIS BUDGE (1857-1934) was born in Bodmin, Cornwall in the UK and discovered an interest in languages at a very early age. Budge spent all his free time learning and discovering Semitic languages, including Assyrian, Syriac, and Hebrew. Eventually, through a close contact, he was able to acquire a job working with Egyptian and Iraqi artifacts at the British Museum. Budge excavated and deciphered numerous cuneiform and hieroglyphic documents, contributing vastly to the museum's collection. Eventually, he became the Keeper of his department, specializing in Egyptology. Budge wrote many books during his lifetime, most specializing in Egyptian life, religion, and language.

Book MMARA NE KYI Divine Law Love and Divine Hate

Download or read book MMARA NE KYI Divine Law Love and Divine Hate written by Odwirafo Kwesi Ra Nehem Ptah Akhan and published by Odwirafo Kwesi Ra Nehem Ptah Akhan. This book was released on with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MMARA NE KYI - Divine Law/Love and Divine Hate Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Religion is defined in essence as the ritual incorporation of Divine Law and the ritual restoration of Divine Balance. Through ritual we incorporate those things, objects, deeds and entities we need to harmonize with Divine Order and through ritual we reject those things, objects, deeds and entities we need to in order to restore balance to our lives. Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Religion animates our culture, our way of life, for Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Culture is the Divine acceptance (Love/Law) of Order and the Divine rejection (Hate) of disorder. The phrase mmara ne kyi is Akan for law and hate. These terms derive from the same terms in Kamit: maa hna kht. Divine Law and Divine Hate are the Expansive and Contractive Poles of Divine Order. In this work we properly define these concepts inclusive of the fact that there are Deities (Abosom, Orisha, Vodou, Ntorou/Ntorotu [Neteru/Netertu-Ntrw/Ntrwt]) who embody these concepts: Maa and Maat (Law) and Heru Behdety and Sekhmet (Hate). We demonstrate that Law and Love have always been the same concept in Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) culture and that Hate has been and always will be Divine. Just as there are Deities of Law/Love, there are Deities of Hate. Moreover, and most critically, without an understanding of the Divinity of Hate one has absolutely no understanding of authentic Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) cosmology, culture, religion, philosophy and its infrastructure: Divine Order.
