La rehabilitacion sismica comprende todas aquellas medidas tendientes a promover un comportamiento adecuado de la estructura y, de esta manera, satisfacer los niveles de desempeno sismico establecidos. A partir de la revision de la literatura disponible y la respuesta medida durante ensayos en mesa vibratoria, en este libro se presentan recomendaciones para analisis, diseno y construccion de un nuevo metodo para rehabilitacion sismica de muros de concreto para vivienda, el cual consiste en un encamisado de concreto reforzado con fibras de acero (CRFA). Adicionalmente se compara el costo de la tecnica propuesta con otras tecnicas comunmente usadas para la rehabilitacion sismica de muros de concreto reforzado."

Estudos recentes têm mostrado que as fibras de aço podem ser utilizadas para aumentar a capacidade de momento fletor e a resistência ao cisalhamento de elementos de concreto armado. A resistência à tração e a capacidade de deformação pós-fissuração tornam o concreto reforçado com fibra de aço um material atraente para a construção de paredes em casas baixas. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar critérios e recomendações para dimensionamento resistente a terremotos de paredes de concreto armado com fibras de aço (CRFA) em substituição à armadura de cisalhamento convencional (barras e malhas). Para tanto, os autores iniciam ampliando o conhecimento sobre a utilização do concreto com fibras de aço em elementos sujeitos a forças sísmicas; em seguida, eles estabelecem correlações para o projeto entre as propriedades mecânicas do concreto armado com fibras de aço; e finalizam com uma avaliação experimental do desempenho estrutural de paredes de CRFA por meio de ensaios dinâmicos em mesa vibratória de paredes de concreto submetida a acelerogramas naturais e sintéticos. Este trabalho destina-se a alunos e professores de Engenharia de Materiais, Engenharia Civil e Engenharia Industrial, centros e institutos de investigação relacionados com o betão armado e, em geral, profissionais e consultores do sector da construção. Inclui: Revisão da literatura sobre concreto armado com fibra de aço (CRFA). Desenvolvimento de um programa experimental de paredes CRFA para uso em edifícios baixos. Resultados dos testes de parede CRFA em mesa vibratória.

Considerando la rigidez y resistencia de estructuras con muros de concreto, las demandas de fuerzas y desplazamientos son relativamente bajas y, por tanto, se utilizan muros con baja resistencia de concreto, espesor reducido, cuantias menores que las minimas y refuerzo a cortante en el alma formado por mallas de alambre soldado. Sin embargo, esta practica carece de un sustento tecnico robusto y conduce a un incremento no justificado del costo de la vivienda. Ademas, debido a las caracteristicas particulares de los muros, los parametros de diseno y los requisitos en los reglamentos vigentes, no son directamente aplicables. En este libro se proponen recomendaciones para analisis, diseno y construccion de muros para vivienda de baja altura. Teniendo en cuenta el enfoque practico de las recomendaciones propuestas, se considera que estas son una herramienta robusta para que los disenadores y desarrolladores de reglamentos evaluen la efectividad de los procedimientos de diseno disponibles y promuevan una vivienda segura y economica ante solicitaciones sismicas."
