The second report concentrates on the UK, and on the social transition from a welfare state to a stakeholder/welfare society. Both reports look at issues of crime prevention, youth employment, projects for training initiatives, and urban design processes. Both reports find examples of good practice, and recommends methods to regenerate social cohesion.

This book was released on 2024-01-10 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There have been seismic shifts recently occurring in the realm of education. There is an important transition from a focus on "qualification" to "competence" in the world of work, and the need to equip educators with the skills and methodologies required to meet these changing demands has never been greater. The role of a teacher can no longer be a static practitioner, but rather a dynamic decision-maker, ready to shape developing minds. Fostering Pedagogical Innovation Through Effective Instructional Design is an expansive research book that delves deep into the intricate art of teaching, emphasizing that pedagogy is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. This scholarly work asserts that effective teaching is rooted in understanding context and a relentless commitment to refining one's instructional practices. It navigates the reader through the intricacies of andragogy, the theoretical foundations of didactics, and innovative pedagogical approaches, offering a comprehensive toolkit for educators striving to optimize their craft.

Book Perspectives on Learning Assessment in the Arts in Higher Education

Download or read book Perspectives on Learning Assessment in the Arts in Higher Education written by Diane Leduc and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-11-04 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on theoretical and empirical insights from art teachers in Canada and Europe, this edited volume explores the question of how learning in the arts can be effectively and fairly assessed in the context of higher education. The chapters consider a rich variety of assessment practices across music, visual and plastic arts, performing arts, design, fashion, dance and music and illustrate how knowledge, competencies, skills and progress can be viably and fairly assessed. Contextual challenges to assessment are also considered in depth, and particular attention is paid to the challenges of reconciling teaching in the arts, aimed at an intuitive transformation of the student, and assessing learning that takes on its meaning in subjectivity and sensitivity. This text will benefit researchers, academics and educators in higher education with an interest in assessment in the artistic disciplines and in the topic of creativity more broadly. Those specifically interested in educational assessment policy and the visual arts will also benefit from this book.

Book Educational Innovation in Economics and Business VI

Download or read book Educational Innovation in Economics and Business VI written by Tor A. Johannessen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business education and business research has often been criticized by the business community, which claims that much of it is mainly directed at the establishment of teachers and researchers themselves, instead of distributing their knowledge to the business community. It may seem that many universities and other research institutions have turned into mere `knowledge manufacturers', where the emphasis is more on the output volume than on quality of relevance, with little or no consideration for the end users. As universities and corporations attempt to prepare management to be alert to future changes, improved and even brand new teaching methodologies are required. The main focus of the present volume is on the distribution and selection of new knowledge. How can business educators deliver new knowledge to students and the business community more rapidly than before? How should we define the core business curriculum when new knowledge becomes old knowledge?

Book Guide to Reflective Thinking on University Learning Strategies

This book was released on 2011-03-20T00:00:00-04:00 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learning in the university is not always a rest cure. On top of the volume of knowledge to be acquired, the assimilation of new concepts, and the complexity of discipline-specific procedures and technologies, students must also take into account all the other factors that may impact on the quality of their learning : professors’ requirements, educational styles, team assignments, the vagaries of their own attention and memory, their motivation level... To succeed, the student must become a strategist and draw up a battle plan. Being strategic in one’s studies and learning is to reflect before, during, and after each activity in order to maximize its efficiency ; in other words, to optimize the yield of the efforts invested to succeed and achieve the competency level prescribed by the training program. This guide sets out the essential knowledge for a better self-understanding and the principles for dealing efficiently with one’s studies, in order to help students achieve their personal goals.

Book Strategies for Sustainable Financing of Secondary Education in Sub Saharan Africa

Download or read book Strategies for Sustainable Financing of Secondary Education in Sub Saharan Africa written by Keith M. Lewin and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2008-02-27 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investment in secondary schooling in Sub-Saharan Africa has been neglected since the World Conference on Education for All at Jomtien. The World Education Forum at Dakar began to recognize the growing importance of post-primary schooling for development. Only 25 percent of school-age children attend secondary school in the region--and fewer complete successfully, having consequences for gender equity, poverty reduction, and economic growth. As universal primary schooling becomes a reality, demand for secondary schools is increasing rapidly. Gaps between the educational levels of the labor force in Sub-Saharan Africa and other regions remain large. Girls are more often excluded from secondary schools than boys. Secondary schooling costs are high to both governments and households. This study explores how access to secondary education can be increased. Radical reforms are needed in low-enrollment countries to make secondary schooling more affordable and to provide more access to the majority currently excluded. The report identifies the rationale for increasing access, reviews the status of secondary education in Sub-Saharan Africa, charts the growth needed in different countries to reach different levels of participation, identifies the financial constraints on growth, and discusses the reforms needed to make access affordable. It concludes with a road map of ways to increase the probability that more of Africa's children will experience secondary schooling.
