Dans le domaine de la combustion, des outils d'analyse très performants ont été développés. Malheureusement ces outils sont souvent très chers et compliqués à mettre en œuvre et de ce fait ils sont accessibles uniquement aux grandes entreprises équipées de laboratoires importants. Le but du présent travail a été de développer des méthodes d'analyse performantes accessibles aux petites et moyennes entreprises (PME). Dans ce but, 3 outils ont été développés : - Un code de simulation numérique utilisant le modèle de la flamme cohérente. La convivialité étant une exigence primaire de la part des utilisateurs, le programme a été muni d'un interface graphique. - Une méthode d'analyse de gaz en continu permettant d'accélérer de 40 à 50 fois, par rapport à une méthode classique ‘pas à pas’, l'acquisition des valeurs de concentrations chimiques. - La tomographie de flamme, utilisant une méthode bien connue dans le domaine médical, permettant de visualiser le front de flamme dans un écoulement tridimensionnel d'un brûleur industriel. Mettant en œuvre du matériel existant ou du matériel standard à coût réduit, ces techniques devraient être a la portée de tout PME soucieuse d'améliorer ses méthodes d'analyse de brûleurs.

Book excerpt: L'usage d'un nouveau procédé appelé Chemical-Looping Combustion (CLC) représente une alternative sérieuse pour la production d'énergie propre avec captation du dioxyde de carbone. La combustion s'effectue grâce à l'oxygène d'un oxyde métallique et on obtient ainsi des produits de combustion composés exclusivement du gaz carbonique et de vapeur d'eau d'une part, et le métal utilisé d'autre part. Le gaz carbonique peut être piégé et séquestré, le métal obtenu est régénéré puis recyclé. Nous avons réalisé l'étude de la réactivité des porteurs d'oxygènes sur dix cycles, puis l'amélioration de leur régénération par l'ajout d'éléments dopant. La conversion du méthane a alors été étudiée sur un réacteur à lit fixe ( 1-10 kW). Une étude cinétique des réactions des différents porteurs d'oxygène en réduction et en ré-oxydation a ensuite été réalisée pour dix cycles. Enfin, nous avons présenté une modélisation phénoménologique du réacteur pour la combustion du méthane avec les porteurs d'oxygène.
