Little does she know that Ryan, the sexy guy who offered to be her escort as she samples all the ship has to offer, is really Ryan Callahan, the ship’s playboy owner. Ryan Callahan is single, rich, and considered quite the catch. Two years ago he and his business partner launched the Lothario, a floating den of iniquity where passengers can indulge their every sexual fantasy, but since the ship docked following its maiden cruise, Ryan has been so scarce he’s earned the nickname, Monk, until sweet, naïve Candace coaxes him out of his tower, heats his blood, and steals his heart. But will she still want him when she finds out who he really is?

Book Conduct Unbecoming

Download or read book Conduct Unbecoming written by Randy Shilts and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2014-12-16 with total page 860 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A thoroughly researched and engrossingly readable history” of gay men and women in the American armed forces by the author of And the Band Played On (The New York Times Book Review). Published during the same year the American military instituted Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and eighteen years before President Barack Obama repealed it, Conduct Unbecoming is a landmark work of social justice and a searing indictment of the military establishment’s historic bigotry toward its gay servicemen and women. Randy Shilts’s eye-opening book describes the bravery, both exceptional and everyday, not only of gay soldiers throughout history, but also of gay men and women serving in our modern military. With each anecdote and investigation, Shilts systematically dismantles the arguments against allowing gays to serve in the military. At once a history of the American military and an account of the gay rights movement, Conduct Unbecoming is a remarkable testament to the progress achieved for gays in the military—and a revealing look at how far we have yet to go.

Book excerpt: From the preeminent historian of modern comedy comes an expansive history of showbiz and the culture wars There is a common belief that we live in unprecedented times, that people are too sensitive today, that nobody objected to the actions of actors, comedians, and filmmakers in the past. Modern pundits would have us believe that Americans of a previous generation had tougher skin and seldom complained. But does this argument hold up to scrutiny? In Outrageous, celebrated cultural historian Kliph Nesteroff demonstrates that Americans have been objecting to entertainment for nearly two hundred years, sometimes rationally, often irrationally. Likewise, powerful political interests have sought to circumvent the arts using censorship, legal harassment, and outright propaganda. From Mae West through Johnny Carson, Amos ’n’ Andy through Beavis and Butt-Head, Outrageous chronicles the controversies of American show business and the ongoing attempts to change what we watch, read, and hear.

Book Show Me the Ropes

  • ISBN : 1734213663
  • Pages : 202 pages

Download or read book Show Me the Ropes written by Roz Lee and published by State of Mind Publishing. This book was released on 2022-01-29 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For two years, Richard Wolfe, Cruise Director and Co-owner of the Lothario has been in love with the lovely Dr. Fallon Enright. When she hired on to provide oral sex classes, she did it with the stipulation she could document the sessions as research for a self-help book. Because of that research, and Fallon’s frustratingly admirable ethics, she’s made it clear she wouldn’t have a personal relationship with her employer. He was sure his well-deserved reputation as an international playboy had a lot to do with her decision. She’d captured Richard’s attention, and his heart, and he’d done everything he could think of to change her mind. Some of his ideas had been stupider than others, but the one thing he was convinced would change her mind was the one thing he wasn’t sure he’d ever have the opportunity to tell her. Then Fallon walked into his office and declared her research complete, and asked for an early release from her contract. Something inside him snapped. Desperate for one last chance to convince her he was a changed man, and his love was real, Richard stooped to an all-time low. Blackmailing her into being his sex slave for one week-long cruise in exchange for the early release she wanted was a risk. A big one if she filed sexual harassment charges instead of agreeing. She’d win in a court of law and he and his partner Ryan could lose everything Fallon couldn’t believe she had agreed to Richard’s asinine plan. There was something about his tone of voice, when he stipulated she would have to submit to him, in all things. The possibilities sent a shiver up her spine. She’d never thought about being a Sub, but somehow the idea of submitting to Richard felt right. In the course of the week, Richard and Fallon learn a lot about each other, and perhaps more about themselves, as their relationship takes them both into uncharted waters. When at last, Richard reveals everything to Fallon, will it be enough to convince her that his is a binding love?

Download or read book Her Cold War written by Tanya L. Roth and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2021-09-15 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While Rosie the Riveter had fewer paid employment options after being told to cede her job to returning World War II veterans, her sisters and daughters found new work opportunities in national defense. The 1948 Women's Armed Services Integration Act created permanent military positions for women with the promise of equal pay. Her Cold War follows the experiences of women in the military from the passage of the Act to the early 1980s. In the late 1940s, defense officials structured women's military roles on the basis of perceived gender differences. Classified as noncombatants, servicewomen filled roles that they might hold in civilian life, such as secretarial or medical support positions. Defense officials also prohibited pregnant women and mothers from remaining in the military and encouraged many women to leave upon marriage. Before civilian feminists took up similar issues in the 1970s, many servicewomen called for a broader definition of equality free of gender-based service restrictions. Tanya L. Roth shows us that the battles these servicewomen fought for equality paved the way for women in combat, a prerequisite for promotion to many leadership positions, and opened opportunities for other servicepeople, including those with disabilities, LGBT and gender nonconforming people, noncitizens, and more.
