Book Woman You Are Highly Favoured by God

Download or read book Woman You Are Highly Favoured by God written by Esther S. Ripiye and published by Author House. This book was released on 2012-08-08 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Religious belief has over the years had a great influence on the status and history of women especially in the ministry. From the earliest days of the New Testament Church and up till present, most Christians have misinterpreted the scriptures on the basis of 1 Timothy 2:11-12 which says Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent. This passage has been used by many churches to place certain restrictions on the ministry of women. This has given rise to many debates in the church and restricted many women from fulfilling their leadership call. It is therefore important to dispel the myths about the role of women and open our eyes to what the Bible really says concerning this. This is not about having dominance but every Christian needs to flow in the Holy Spirit to enable their gifts and calling to bring the kingdom of God to earth. This book contains the study of Seventy Two Women of the Bible. It gives us the details of their lives, roles, character, and influence. It also shows how God used them in the past and still uses us as women to advance His kingdom on earth. The knowledge of the scripture is imperative. The book also shows how to build confidence in the word of God, releasing ourselves for the Holy Spirit to flow through us so that the knowledge of the scriptures can operate in our purpose, gifts, talents and calling in Christ. The authors writing is well documented, based on revelation of the word, her leadership role over the years and from her studies of the role of women in the bible that have span for over 3 decades. The book brings honest and scriptural truth on crucial questions regarding to leadership and teaching role of women in the church. It shows how Jesus related and affirms the role of women in the kingdom. This book is highly recommended for all Christians who are passionate about the true teachings of the scriptures and the roles God expects men and women to play in unity for the advancement of the kingdom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most up-to-date study of the text history of 1 and 2 Kings In this book, Tuukka Kauhanen approaches the challenging case of the textual history of 1 and 2 Kings through citations of the text found within the writings of the fourth-century bishop of Sadinia, Lucifer of Cagliari. Kauhanen presents evidence that Lucifer's Latin text sheds important light on lost Hebrew and Greek pieces of the textual puzzle in Kings. In doing so, he compares all of Lucifer's extensive quotations of Kings to extant Greek witnesses as well as Old Latin witnesses where available and subsequently analyzes the probable reasons for textual variations. In each instance he attempts to choose the best possible candidate for the Old Greek reading and where that reading might reflect a now-lost Hebrew text. Features Use of the most current research into the text of the Hebrew Bible and the Septuagint, including the Hebrew Bible: A Critical Edition series and the forthcoming Göttingen Septuagint edition of King An appendix listing readings from the analysis sections arranged according to agreement patterns and other meaningful criteria Charts comparing readings

Book The Maladies of Lucifer

Download or read book The Maladies of Lucifer written by Omar Mahmoud and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-10-22 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forgetfulness is one of the Maladies of Lucifer. When he was priest of angels, he forgot to pray to God to protect him from deviating from the straight path. It is written in the Laws of God: Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and Lucifer was most afraid of Adam in his clay form. When finally God commanded the angels Let each one that holds Me for his Lord straightway do reverence to this earth many that loves God bowed themselves but Lucifer with them that were of his mind disobeyed. They said: O Lord, we are spirit and therefore it is not just that we should do reverence to this clay. That was the day Lucifer fell from grace to grass. If he had remembered that he had just failed in his trial, he should have long stopped blaming his fall on the just judgment of God and repent. Again, he forgot he had no wings, and was not created with light like the angels, and yet was elevated and made Priest among angels. Who is he then, to question God what He should and should not do? I wonder. Lucifer boasted that he would give God trouble on Judgement Day. O poor Lucifer! He has again forgotten that God has no need: It is man and Jinn that have need. If God wills, He could blot out present creation for another creation. Lucifer is indeed a confused man-Iblis.

Book The Search for the Christian Doctrine of God

Download or read book The Search for the Christian Doctrine of God written by Richard Patrick Crosland Hanson and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 966 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1988, The Search for the Christian Doctrine of God is still considered by many scholars to be the finest work on the Arian Controversy. Examining scholarly works on the Controversy and many original texts, Professor Hanson, provides a clear understanding of how the traditional and historic doctrine of God as the Holy Trinity reached its most mature and enduring form. The author is not primarily concerned to defend the orthodox position itself, but rather to discover and examine the formation of that orthodoxy. The history of the events - the Councils, the interventions of the Emperor, the rivalries of sees, the behaviour of bishops, the varying fortunes of the different schools of thought and their leaders - is interwoven with the progression of thought and doctrine during the sixty years of the Controversy. Professor Hanson sees the problem of the reconciliation of two concepts which were both part of the very fabric of Christianity - monotheism and the worship of Jesus Christ as divine.

Book The Development of Ethics Volume 1

Download or read book The Development of Ethics Volume 1 written by Terence Irwin and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2007-09-20 with total page 840 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Development of Ethics is a selective historical and critical study of moral philosophy in the Socratic tradition, with special attention to Aristotelian naturalism, its formation, elaboration, criticism, and defence. It discusses the main topics of moral philosophy as they have developed historically, including: the human good, human nature, justice, friendship, and morality; the methods of moral inquiry; the virtues and their connexions; will, freedom, and responsibility; reason and emotion; relativism, subjectivism, and realism; the theological aspect of morality. This volume examines ancient and medieval philosophy up to the sixteenth century; Volumes 2 and 3 will continue the story up to Rawls's Theory of Justice. The present volume begins with Socrates, the Cyrenaics and Cynics, and Plato, and then offers a fuller account of Aristotle, stressing the systematic naturalism of his position. The Stoic position is compared with the Aristotelian at some length; Epicureans and Sceptics are discussed more briefly. Chapters on early Christianity and on Augustine introduce a fuller examination of Aquinas' revision, elaboration, and defence of Aristotelian naturalism. The volume closes with an account of some criticisms of the Aristotelian outlook by Scotus, Ockham, Machiavelli, and some sixteenth-century Reformers. The emphasis of the book is not purely descriptive, narrative, or exegetical, but also philosophical. Irwin discusses the comparative merits of different views, the difficulties that they raise, and how some of the difficulties might be resolved. The book tries to present the leading moral philosophers of the past as participants in a rational discussion that is still being carried on, and tries to help the reader to participate in this discussion.
