Book Sequence stratigraphy of the Jurassic Lowermost Cretaceous Hettangian Berriasian of the North Sea region

Download or read book Sequence stratigraphy of the Jurassic Lowermost Cretaceous Hettangian Berriasian of the North Sea region written by P. Copestake and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2023-07-26 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sequence stratigraphy has become a powerful tool in the basin analysis of the North Sea Basin, and will continue to play an important role in the maximization of the remaining hydrocarbon potential of the region, whilst also supporting the energy transition in carbon capture and storage projects with Jurassic storage units. This Memoir provides a long-awaited, comprehensive documentation of Jurassic to lowermost Cretaceous sequence stratigraphy of the region (UK, Norway, Denmark and adjacent areas). The volume is amply illustrated by numerous well log displays, core images, seismic lines, chronostratigraphic diagrams and outcrop photographs. Individual chapters discuss the historical usage of sequence stratigraphy in the North Sea Jurassic, sequence stratigraphic concepts and models, application in hydrocarbon field development, definition of stratigraphic traps, well sequence interpretation methodology and controls on sequence development. To complete the volume there are further chapters on North Sea Jurassic lithostratigraphy and its relation to sequence stratigraphy, and descriptions of the biozones used to characterize and correlate the sequences.

Book Lower Jurassic Ostracodes and Stratigraphy of Western Sk ne Southern Sweden

Download or read book Lower Jurassic Ostracodes and Stratigraphy of Western Sk ne Southern Sweden written by Ulf Sivhed and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lower Jurassic sections from eighteen localities situated in northwestern and western Skåne have been sampled and described. From a lithostratigraphic point of view the sections treated belong to the Döshult, Pankarp, Katslösa, and Rydebäck Members of the Rya Formation. Forty-one ostracode species have been recorded, seven of which are described as new. These ostracodes indicate two ostracode zones, The Cristacythere betzi-C. crassireticulata Zone and the Ogmoconchella danica Zone. These zones are of Sinemurian and Pliensbachian ages.

Book Evolutionary Biology of Ostracoda

Download or read book Evolutionary Biology of Ostracoda written by N. Ikeya and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-10-10 with total page 1373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many competitive works on the market concerning evolutionary biology, but this volume is quite distinctive in its idiographic aspect focusing on Ostracoda viewed from a wide range of disciplines, ages and environments. The book deals with various lines of idiographic biology and palaeontology of Ostracoda and nomothetic trials focusing strongly on evolutionary biology. Particular themes are morphology, biology, evolution, speciation, ecology, palaeoecology, deep sea fauna, biogeography, palaeobiogeography, biostratigraphy and exploration, all concerning Ostracoda. The last decade has witnessed a spectacular renewal of interest in the study of Otracoda, particularly in the evolutionary biology of Ostracoda, including speciation. Ostracoda are unique, ranging in age from the Cambrian period to modern times with carapaces ready to be preserved as fossils, providing various lines of invaluable evidence regarding evolutionary processes.More than 120 participants from 20 countries assembled at the Ninth International Symposium on Ostracoda and this book is a collection of all the papers presented at the Symposium, plus selected papers submitted by non-attending members. It presents an outstanding record of much pioneering research and will be of interest to specalists in Ostracoda as well as all earth and life scientists concerned with evolution. Its value is further enhanced by easy-to-use indexes of authors, localities and taxa.

Book Mesozoic Resource Potential in the Southern Permian Basin

Download or read book Mesozoic Resource Potential in the Southern Permian Basin written by B. Kilhams and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2018-08-31 with total page 567 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Southern Permian Basin, as its name suggests, is a historical heartland for hydrocarbon production from the Palaeozoic Rotliegend interval. However, in this mature basin the Mesozoic presents further possibilities to offer resource security to NW Europe. Such opportunities include increasing efficiency in the production of discovered hydrocarbons, exploration for further hydrocarbons (both conventional and unconventional) and efficient exploration for, and production of, geothermal energy. All these potential resources require a grounding in technically sound geoscience, via traditional scientific observation and the application of new technologies, to unlock their value. The main aim of this volume is to bring together the work of academics and industry workers to consider cross-border geoscience including contributions on Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and adjacent areas. The work presented intends to contribute to the development and discovery of further Mesozoic energy resources across the basin.

Book The Geology of Central Europe Mesozoic and Cenozoic

Download or read book The Geology of Central Europe Mesozoic and Cenozoic written by Tom McCann and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2008 with total page 760 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 2 provides an overview of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic evolution of Central Europe. This period commenced with the destruction of Pangaea and ended with the formation of the Alps and Carpathians and the subsequent Ice Ages. Separate summary chapters on the Permian to Cretaceous tectonics and the Alpine evolution are also included. The final chapter provides an overview of the fossils fuels, ore and industrial minerals in the region.

Book The Jurassic of Denmark and Greenland

Download or read book The Jurassic of Denmark and Greenland written by Jon R. Ineson and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 1002 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Jurassic of Denmark and adjacent areas occurs mostly in the subsurface and research has thus focussed on the wealth of borehole and reflection seismic data resulting from over thirty years of hydrocarbon exploration. The Jurassic of East Greenland, in contrast, is exposed in spectacular cliffs along fjords and mountainsides and has come to be regarded as a unique field laboratory, particularly amongst those working on the Norwegian shelf--the conjugate margin of East Greenland. This bulletin presents the results of a period of intensive research into the Jurassic in the late 1980s and 1990s. Following detailed chronostratigraphic and biostratigraphic reviews of the Jurassic of Northwest Europe, the successions of Denmark and East Greenland are subjected to a range of stratigraphic, sedimentological, structural and geochemical studies that together provide the basis for a detailed comparison of the Jurassic evolution of the East Greenland and Danish sedimentary basins.
