Download or read book One Coin Found written by Emmy Kegler and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 2019-04-02 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The stories of Scripture are for everyone. No exceptions. Emmy Kegler has a complicated relationship with the Bible. As a queer woman who grew up in both conservative Evangelical and progressive Protestant churches, she knows too well how Scripture can be used to wound and exclude. And yet, the stories of Scripture continue to captivate and inspire her--both as a person of faith and as a pastor to a congregation. So she set out to fall in love with the Bible, wrestling with the stories inside, where she met a God who continues to seek us out--appearing again and again as a voice, a presence, and a promise. Whenever we are pushed to the edges, our voices silenced, or our stories dismissed, God goes out after us--seeking us until we are found again. And God is seeking out those whose voices we too quickly silence and dismiss, too. Because God's story is a story of welcome and acceptance for everyone--no exceptions. Kegler shows us that even when we feel like lost and dusty coins--rusted from others' indifference, misspent and misused--God picks up a broom and sweeps every corner of creation to find us.

Book excerpt: In between highbrow and lowbrow, there’s Unabrow. "Take the cast of ‘Bridesmaids,’ add a dash of pre-pubescent Eugene Levy, and you have the humor stylings of Una LaMarche."—Ann Imig, founder of Listen to Your Mother As a girl, Una LaMarche was as smart as she was awkward. She was blessed with a precocious intellect, a love of all things pop culture, and eyebrows bushier than Frida Kahlo’s. Adversity made her stronger...and funnier. In Unabrow, Una shares the cringe-inducing lessons she’s learned from a life as a late bloomer, including the seven deadly sins of DIY bangs, how not to make your own jorts, and how to handle pregnancy, plucking, and the rites of passage during which your own body is your worst frenemy. For readers who loved Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and for fans of Mindy Kaling, Tina Fey, and Amy Schumer, Unabrow is the book June Cleaver would have written if she spent more time drinking and less time vacuuming.

Download or read book Divine Dimes written by Lynn Van Praagh-Gratton and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2019-10-24 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the day when I was sanctified with life, the profound meaning which accompanied my birth has become my stalking shadow. As time unfolded and I reached adolescence, I began to gaze into the heavens and found myself asking a most insightful question..."Will death end an abbreviated journey or will eternity receive me with open arms for some greater disguised purpose?" And, with the speed of a shooting star dazzling a blackened night sky, the answer quickly came. Like my mother, Regina, and my great-aunt, Maggie, I have been pre-programmed, or perhaps blessed, to be able to channel words from the other side of life...a destination which I have come to call Beyond the Beyond. "Why me?" I have often pondered. And the celebrated answer that I have repeatedly received is: "Because you truly care about people " I have waited the better part of a lifetime to gather knowledge, experience, and wisdom worthy of writing a text that bore the fruit of sustenance. And, thankfully, that moment has arrived when destiny, or what I have learned is an eternal life force called the SOURCE, intended that pen should join paper. My desire is that once your reading ends, you will learn about: my gift as a psychic-medium; why I chose the title "Divine Dimes;" what it means to live and to die; the spiritual meaning behind reincarnation; why my and your journey is meant to eventually lead to the SOURCE of eternal light and love; and how you can prepare in this life for forever's tomorrows.
Download or read book A Spent Bullet written by Curt Iles and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-08-31 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Late summer 1941. Louisianas piney woods are engulfed by a tidal wave of soldiers engaged in the largest army maneuvers ever undertaken on American soil. For many of these young men, as well as the isolated Southern communities, life will never be the same. Although no one knows it, our nation will be at war in three months. Elizabeth Reed is a young Louisiana schoolteacher who dislikes soldiers. Harry Miller is a Wisconsin soldier who hates Louisiana. It only makes sense that they should meet and fall in love. Their story begins with a bulletan empty cartridge tossed from a truckload of soldiers. The note inside it will change the destinies of these two young people. In the midst of large-scale battles between the red and blue armies, Harry and Elizabeth are each fighting their own war with dark secrets from their pasts. They have nothing in common except mutual desires to escape these pasts. In spite of clashing at every turn, they run right into each others arms as they jointly learn that the hardest person to forgive is yourself. Within this clash of cultures lies the core message of A Spent Bullet. Rural Louisiana is never the same, and neither are the soldiers who learn about Louisiana mud, mosquitoes, and misery mixed with memorable Southern hospitality. More than a love story, A Spent Bullet recreates a memorable but largely forgotten time in Louisiana and our nations history. Told in the warm and touching style loved by readers of his previous eight books, Curt Iles weaves a story of love, history, and redemption.

Download or read book The Solution written by Robert W. Knutson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-12-14 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Julius Caesar Augustus, founder of the early Roman Empire, replaced the estate of the late Roman Republic and raised taxes in conjunction with the glorious incarnation of Christ. Christ’s ministry lasted the few days of three and a half years, culminating in his atoning death for the kingdom of sinful human nature. Humanity in faith was individually summoned to accept Christ as the antitypical lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world in fulfilment of Gen. 3:15. Systems of faith/belief arms would develop for believers to join. Wars of words broke out between churches and civil states regarding the nature of Christ and other traditions. Some systems of faith/belief operated within the Ten Commandments hedge, while others did not. Roman Catholicism did not operate within that hedge, disregarding the fourth commandment, thus showing contempt for the law. Believers in the Dark Ages, Middle Ages, Reformation, and post-Reformation eras broke away from the Roman Catholic Church system to follow Bible truth, causing people to give their lives and even die for their faith.

Download or read book Toss of Coin written by Ashok Sharda and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2019-05-13 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Toss of Coin is an anthology of stories intended to reevaluate human relationship with their god, fellow beings, animals, and plants. Centuries together, people have lived without establishing any kind of real communication. The invariable underlying reason is a conditioned, self-centered mind that closes all doors and windows that lead one to the other. The other in relationship becomes object of subjective convenience. They turn into a replaceable commodity—A is equal to B is equal to C is equal to D, and if D is unavailable can be replaced by C and so on. In normal course, relationship is a happening guided by three metaphysical laws, epitomized by the toss of coin. People become prey to their own internalized self-hypnotic autosuggestions: He or she has light brown hair and eyes, he or she has confident masculine or feminine strides, and they see the aura. Incidentally, the color of the eyes and hair remain, the big frame and the strides remain, and yet the aura turns into that of an abominable bummer when the law turns friend into foe. Relations commencing from akinness of vibrations are built on different footing, developed on some different levels, and is everlasting. Such relationships don’t confine to one of umpteen selves but one’s whole being. Unfortunately, humans are fond of nomenclaturing relationships but have failed to traverse the path where they can meet one another. They have failed to realize that a good father only exists when exists a bad father. Humans, owing to their insensitive, egocentric, and violent character traits have failed to establish any kind of relationship with animals and plants who live around us. In three of the stories, the author emphasizes the need to extend ‘human’ hand in love to win their trust. These stories are real-life stories—if not in the depiction of the events, in author’s experience—seen not through two normal eyes but on some different dimension personifying the whole experience. His approach to any happening is metaphysical.
