Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Reincarnation of Love was inspired by real life experiences and my ideology about love and passion for someone you love. The various love poems are meant for the institution of marriage. They reveal that Christians can be sexy and expressive also. The Reincarnation of Love has three prongs: the inspiration, the pain, and the love. It addresses the concepts of love infusion, love transfusion, a captive heart, and having a love infection. These concepts are brilliantly brought out in the various poems as well as the twisted plays of love versus new love. Then there are times when the new love appears to be infected and then resurrects itself again as the guiding light. Just when you think you have it all figured out, love reincarnates itself again in the exotic, sensual, yet tasteful metaphoric forms brought out in "Queen Crab Meat," "Coffee Shop," "Computer Story," and the "Attribute to Perfume." The book also addresses the controversy of "Women in the Pulpit" and provides words of encouragement and enlightenment to help empower individuals to move forward in life. Sit back and experience an emotional, spiritual, and challenging journey through the various phases of pain, love, romance, and spirituality like never before. Once you start reading this book, you cannot put it down.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grounded in Christian love mysticism, Love’s Oneing gives voice to the luminous consciousness that awakens from within our oneness in God in contemplation. With great sensitivity, the book offers nuanced insight into the marriage of kenosis and desire in contemplation, through the rich tapestry of writings from nine mystics: Julian of Norwich, the Cloud of Unknowing author, Meister Eckhart, Mechthild of Magdeburg, Clare of Assisi, John of the Cross, Teilhard de Chardin, Beatrice Bruteau and Ilia Delio. With the delicate eye of a spiritual director immersed in mystical literature, Kerrie Hide situates these mystical teachings within contemplative prayer, whilst offering a scholarly exploration of contemplative practice to embody the insights. Deeply grounded in traditional and contemporary mystical classics, Hide celebrates how the Christian mystical tradition lays a foundation for the evolutionary growth of communion consciousness and the insights of quantum science, highlighting key moments in contemplation that when surrendered into, open into divine love. Born of intellectual reflection, lived experience and contemplative wisdom, Love’s Oneing makes a unique contribution to the existing literature on contemplation at a time when the recovery of the mystical dimension of life is crucial for the future of our planet in this climate crisis moment.

The collected essays engage the reality of believers' death and resurrection in Christ, and how that bears upon the life of faith while also attending to a wide range of relevant theological topics such as scriptural authority, apologetics, a critique of contemporary mainline Protestant and Evangelical Catholic ethics, a critique of Lutheran-Reformed ecumenism, and the church's mission and outreach. The collection concludes with several sermons based on Old Testament lessons seeking to show how the theology embedded in the essays can be used for proclamation.

Book Healing Like Our Ancestors

    Book Details:
  • Author : Edward Anthony Polanco
  • Publisher : University of Arizona Press
  • Release : 2024-08-27
  • ISBN : 0816552894
  • Pages : 300 pages

Download or read book Healing Like Our Ancestors written by Edward Anthony Polanco and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 2024-08-27 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offering a provocative new perspective, Healing Like Our Ancestors examines sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Nahua healers in central Mexico and how their practices have been misconstrued and misunderstood in colonial records. Early colonial Spanish settlers defined, assessed, and admonished Nahua titiçih (healing specialists) and tiçiyotl (healing knowledge) in the process of building a society in Mexico that mirrored Iberia. Nevertheless, Nahua survivance (intergenerational knowledge transfer) has allowed communities to heal like their ancestors through changes and adaptations. Edward Anthony Polanco draws from diverse colonial primary sources, largely in Spanish and Nahuatl (the Nahua ancestral language), to explore how Spanish settlers framed titiçih, their knowledge, and their practices within a Western complex. Polanco argues for the usage of Indigenous terms when discussing Indigenous concepts and arms the reader with the Nahuatl words to discuss central Mexican Nahua healing. In particular, this book emphasizes the importance of women as titiçih and highlights their work as creators and keepers of knowledge. These vital Nahua perspectives of healing—and how they differed from the settler narrative—will guide community members as well as scholars and students of the history of science, Latin America, and Indigenous studies.

Book The Bright and the Good

Download or read book The Bright and the Good written by Audrey L. Anton and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2018-07-27 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bright and the Good examines the connection between intellectual and moral virtues both through the history of philosophy and as it can be illustrated in comprehensive examinations of specific virtues. The first part of the book investigates the original assumptions posited by Ancient Western philosophers concerning the apparent connection between moral and intellectual virtues. The second part follows the assumptions through history from the Medieval and Modern periods of philosophy, noting how the assumption has been tweaked to accommodate specific ideological and scientific precepts. The third part showcases inquiries into specific virtues, taking the reader on an investigation unfettered by any specific time period or ideology so as to consider the apparent connection between the moral and the intellectual on a case-by-case basis. These essays relate both historical context and contemporary concerns and examine topics including vice, ignorance, hope, courage, patience, justice and mercy.
