Book excerpt: Molly and her two kids are heading from Richmond, VA to the Outer Banks to enjoy a three week summer holiday with Lucy, her BFF from college days at William & Mary, and Lucy's extended family. Thad Rogers, Lucy's divorced older brother, is headed to the vacation rental from his home in Williamsburg, VA to make sure everything is ready for the family to arrive. Thad is not necessarily on board with Lucy and her kids being inserted into a family gathering to cheer his Mom who is dealing with the recent death of her husband and the loss of her youngest son to combat action in Afghanistan all within the last year. Things get interesting as Thad in his old off road Jeep "fun truck" and Molly and her little family in their minivan make it across the bridges connecting the OBX to the mainland just as the bridges are being closed in an attempt to isolate the OBX from the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The rest of the Rogers family scattered across the South are not going to make it in due to the travel restrictions. Things heat up and take some interesting turns as two adults and two pre-teens deal with the reality of the Pandemic. It is a love story and there are enough twists to keep it interesting for romance buffs of any age. Hope you enjoy.

Book Love in the Time of Contagion

Download or read book Love in the Time of Contagion written by Laura Kipnis and published by Pantheon. This book was released on 2022-02-08 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this timely, insightful, and darkly funny investigation, the acclaimed author of Against Love asks: what does living in dystopic times do to our ability to love each other and the world? COVID-19 has produced new taxonomies of love, intimacy, and vulnerability. Will its cultural afterlife be as lasting as that of HIV, which reshaped consciousness about sex and love even after AIDS itself had been beaten back by medical science? Will COVID end up making us more relationally conservative, as some think HIV did within gay culture? Will it send us fleeing into emotional silos or coupled cocoons, despite the fact that, pre-COVID, domestic coupledom had been steadily losing fans? Just as COVID revealed our nation to itself, so did it hold a mirror up to our relationships. In Love in the Time of Contagion, Laura Kipnis weaves (often hilariously) her own (ambivalent) coupled lockdown experiences together with those of others and sets them against a larger backdrop: the politics of the virus, economic disparities, changing gender relations, and the ongoing institutional crack-ups prompted by #MeToo and Black Lives Matter, mapping their effects on the everyday routines and occasional solaces of love and sex.

Book excerpt: Love in the Time of Corona is a product of our times, inspired by the mental and emotional struggles associated with fear, uncertainty, and the isolation experienced during quarantine. It is also an exploration of love, loss, loneliness, and the turmoil that springs from lack of communication, hopelessness, and alienation. However, the underlying themes are those of hope, resiliency, and reconciliation. Love transcends to a realm where the soul’s mere desire is for union, not just with fellow human beings, but also with oneself and with Nature.

Book Love in the Time of Coronavirus

Download or read book Love in the Time of Coronavirus written by Angela Alaimo O'Donnell and published by Paraclete Press. This book was released on 2021-06-08 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These poems map a private pilgrimage to nowhere—from the chair to the couch, the couch to the chair. These poems also map a public pilgrimage through the landscape of pandemic, from dire disaster to the hope for healing. They chronicle a year spent in lockdown in a small village just outside New York City. Living amid the Coronavirus catastrophe has occasioned extraordinary outpourings of love over the past year. These poems recognize the public love of healthcare workers, front-line essential workers, people helping their sick and elderly neighbors and family members, school teachers ministering to students and their parents—all signs of our belief in the common good, as well as the many forms of private and personal love we practice—among them the uncountable emails, texts, social media posts, phone calls, and Zoom calls we share with our beloveds whom we are separated from, making ourselves present to them virtually when we cannot be present physically. These are but a few of the many forms love has taken—and continues to take—during these late days of pandemic. The title of the book, Love in the Time of Coronavirus, is borrowed from Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s luminous novel, Love in the Time of Cholera, about the enduring power of love in the face of time and deadly circumstance. This book of poems goes beyond Marquez's primary focus on romantic attachment to consider love in its many forms. As with Marquez's novel, the poems remind us that love flourishes even, and perhaps especially, during times of extremity, when the reality of mortality becomes palpable to us and we begin to see life in the context of eternity. It is then that love becomes the most powerful antidote we have to human suffering.

Book Love in the Time of Coronavirus

Download or read book Love in the Time of Coronavirus written by Stuart Maesel and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-31 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever loved someone so much, you were willing to give up your life? Jackson Marley Richardson is a man who is about to make a decision. A decision you make only once. A determination of whether he should live or die. He is faced with a life that has not turned out how he thought it would. He's faced with a decision that he doesn't want to make, yet thinks he must, because of his love for his wife and children. Jack represents everyman and everywoman. Like all of us who are forced to make a decision in a world, not the one we thought it would be or should be, but a world that has turned upside down. A world where religion has turned from love to acrimony. A world where politics has pitted players on the same team against each other. Love in the time of Coronavirus is a book about reflection, questioning, and realizations about our world, and how it is forcing many to just bury their heads in the sand and give up, or for some to recommit to helping foster change through love, friendship, and a renewed faith in the individual's ability to be the agent of that change. It is the deep look into the mirror; we all must take at some point in life. Now is that time. The book is an astonishing and enlightening journey and a life adventure, reflecting on extraordinary times with Jack's wife, family, and friends, not thinking of what he missed but appreciating all that is. It is a profound book about life, love, and friendships today that will resonate with all. Love in the time Coronavirus offers a compelling, insightful look into love, politics, bigotry, faith, and friendship. The loving romanticism and exciting plot will keep you enraptured throughout. With a myriad of twists and turns, the ending will astound you.

Download or read book Love in Times of Covid written by Victoria Kludt and published by . This book was released on 2020-09-18 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As if it were a fictional film, one of those of low quality and so much imagination that borders on the absurd, some at the end of 2019 and most of the rest of the mortals at the beginning of 2020, we had to enter a nightmare in which we are not still able to awake, an unprecedented global situation: the coronavirus pandemic. Although in the Middle Ages, in Europe, the so-called "Black Death" created a general psychosis in the old continent without knowledge of the cause, since the medicine of that time was very precarious thanks to the great influencer of the time, the Catholic Church, which did not allow by then the investigation with corpses, so necessary for medical advances, people survived as they could, with the limited resources and knowledge available to them, even believing that it was a great divine punishment. Almost seven hundred years later, we experienced another pandemic and we also don't know who or what was the culprit. But what we do know is that the authorities, in most of the affected countries, decreed the obligatory quarantine and to stay at home and leave only to supply ourselves with essential products to live ... and here many, many problems, subjectivities on what is really essential to live. We live another reality, totally different from the one we were used to. Family and friends that are seen through computer and cell phone screens with delays and images that are frozen by the high demand of internet users and the wifi that is not enough. But what I am going to talk about in this book is about romantic relationships, men, women, teenagers and lovers of old age who, thanks to or due to this undesirable virus, moved away thousands of chained hearts, or lovers. Stories that could be real, stories heard by ear with borders inspired by my imagination, licenses that I allowed myself to integrate to decorate each of these six stories, and of course there is also my own story, although I warn you that it is the most boring of all. I hope you enjoy this book, inspired by the title of another book that I was on my way to write when the pandemic slapped us and put us all inside our homes: "Love in times of networks: adapting to a new way of relating, different from the one our parents told us".Fortunately, I ́ve already published that book in Spanish and now in English.
