The first was located in Grant Park, Chicago, in 1984 by a group of students. The second was unearthed in 2004 in Cleveland by two members of the Quest4Treasure forum. Preiss was killed in an auto accident in the summer of 2005, but the hunt for his casques continues.

If the reader can glean critical information from these original articles and the limited research that allows or helps him or her to locate a "lost mine" or "lost treasure", I wish him or her well and leave it to them to reap the rewards.The print version of this book has been produced in the 81⁄2" X 11" format to keep the price low. If done in 6" X 9" or smaller, the book would be 2 or 3 times as many pages in length and would cost substantially more to increased "on demand" print costs.
