Book Bullying Suicide and Homicide

Download or read book Bullying Suicide and Homicide written by Butch Losey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2011-06-13 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our society, bullying is commonly seen as a normal, inescapable part of growing up that children and adolescents must simply endure. In Bullying, Suicide, and Homicide, Butch Losey challenges this viewpoint, arguing that bullying is not a part of childhood development, but rather an aberrant behavior that, for the victim, can lead to adverse decisions, such as suicide and homicide. He provides a detailed understanding of the relationship between bullying, suicide, and homicide and an assessment and response strategy that can be utilized by mental health professionals who work with children and adolescents. This strategy involves a three stage ecological approach: screening to identify warning signs for bullying, depression, suicide, and violence by means of the Bullying Lethality Identification System (BLIS), developed by Losey and a colleague; assessing the risks of suicide and threats of violence using specially tailored forms and tools; and mediating to identify appropriate interventions. All of the associated tools and forms that the author has created are included as appendices and on the accompanying downloadable resources. Losey’s sensitive and compassionate treatment of this important subject will inform and motivate mental health professionals in their work with victims of bullying.

Book An Auteurist History of Film

Download or read book An Auteurist History of Film written by Charles Silver and published by Museum of Modern Art, New York. This book was released on 2016 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From 2009 to 2014, The Museum of Modern Art presented a weekly series of film screenings titled An Auteurist History of Film. Inspired by Andrew Sarris's seminal book The American Cinema, which elaborated on the "auteur theory" first developed by the critics of Cahiers du Cinéma in the 1950s, the series presented works from MoMA's expansive film collection, with a particular focus on the role of the director as artistic author. Film curator Charles Silver wrote a blog post to accompany each screening, describing the place of each film in the oeuvre of is director as well as the work's significance in cinema history. Following the end of the series' five-year run, the Museum collected these texts for publication, and is now bringing together Silver's insightful and often humorous readings in a single volume. This publication is an invaluable guide to key directors and movies as well as an excellent introduction to auteur theory. -- from back cover.

Book Touching the Light

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psychic and master healer Meg Losey shares her alternative healing techniques for mind, body, and spirit in Touching The Light. Losey shows how channeled systems of healing stem from our perception, energy, and participation in our own journeys. She shares the techniques that she has learned from her human and etheric teachers that readers can use on themselves and others. How is it that miracles happen? Is spontaneous healing really possible? Why is it that some illnesses don’t show up in standard or even specialized medical testing, yet are very real in their effects? Can someone be “cosmically sick” with no apparent physical cause? How do the people and places around us affect us in our everyday lives? Can we intentionally and effectively create miracles of healing to change lives, or to effect positive outcomes even when situations seem hopeless? How can symbols of light be used to instantly attune someone’s entire energy system? Meg Blackburn Losey answers these questions and many others in this ground-breaking book. Touching the Light brings the reader into previously unknown worlds of healing and explains not only how energy healing is possible but how it works. It is the quintessential instruction manual for holistic healing in the third dimension and beyond!

Book Joseph Losey

    Book Details:
  • Author : Colin Gardner
  • Publisher : Manchester University Press
  • Release : 2019-01-11
  • ISBN : 1526141566
  • Pages : 328 pages

Download or read book Joseph Losey written by Colin Gardner and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2019-01-11 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The career of Wisconsin-born Joseph Losey spanned over four decades and several countries. A self-proclaimed Marxist and veteran of the 1930s Soviet agit-prop theater, he collaborated with Bertholt Brecht before directing noir B-pictures in Hollywood. A victim of McCarthyism, he later crossed the Atlantic to direct a series of seminal British films such as "Time Without Pity," "Eve," "The Servant," and "The Go-Between," which mark him as one of the cinema's greatest baroque stylists. His British films reflect on exile and the outsider's view of a class-bound society in crisis through a style rooted in the European art house tradition of Resnais and Godard. Gardner employs recent methodologies from cultural studies and poststructural theory, exploring and clarifying the films' uneasy tension between class and gender, and their explorations of fractured temporality.

Book Creating an Effective Couples Therapy Practice

Download or read book Creating an Effective Couples Therapy Practice written by Butch Losey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-12-15 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most clinicians seek guidelines and indicators as to the effectiveness of their interventions with clients. Some may even be implementing evidence-based interventions and seek an in-depth understanding of their results. This book helps clinicians who provide couple’s or marriage therapy and counseling go from the ambiguous realm of "thinking" or "knowing" their effectiveness to being able to demonstrate it. It identifies effective strategies for common treatment concerns that connect to the successful outcomes of therapy. Here, the process starts even before the couple enters therapy and goes beyond the final session. Dr. Losey discusses specific outcome measures and how they can be used in session so that the couple can assess their relationship and develop specific goals and interventions for treatment. The author also examines session notes, pre-treatment change, and developing quality post-treatment goals in his discussion of clinical effectiveness.
