Book excerpt: La investigación describe y analiza la interseccionalidad de las condiciones de dos organizaciones lideradas mayoritariamente por mujeres de color, Mujeres Unidas (Los Platanitos, La República Dominicana) y ByoEarth (Sumpango, Guatemala). Las dos organizaciones trabajan con proyectos de permacultura en comunidades de bajos recursos económicos donde han apostado por la producción de lombrices y abono orgánico como un recurso alternativo de subsistencia. Sin embargo, los resultados de los proyectos han tomado distintas formas dada la ubicación geográfica y las condiciones socioeconómicas de cada una de ellas. A través de las metodologías cualitativas participativas y descoloniales, tales como entrevistas semiestructuradas, observación, y mi posicionalidad de investigador indígena no-binario (visto como hombre no-hegemónico), la investigación identifica los desafíos y oportunidades que cada organización ha atravesado durante su construcción para reconocer las historias y conocimientos de mujeres de color, especialmente mujeres indígenas y negras dentro de la sociedad contemporánea. La contribución de esta investigación se enfoca en dos objetivos principalmente: primero, el reconocimiento de mujeres indígenas y negras en la construcción de conocimiento en modelos económicos; y segundo, el análisis de las estructuras raciales y genéricas y su impacto en organizaciones de mujeres de color a través del análisis de yuxtaposición e interseccional. Por medio de este estudio, investigadores pueden aprender a reconocer que su posicionalidad o posicionamiento influye en la recolección de datos y de qué manera pueden ser aliados por medio de la academia. Abstract: The research describes and analyzes the intersectionality of the conditions of two organizations mainly led by women of color, Mujeres Unidas (Los Platanitos, The Dominican Republic) and ByoEarth (Sumpango, Guatemala). The two organizations work with permaculture projects in low-income communities where they have opted to produce worms and organic fertilizer as an alternative subsistence resource. However, the results of the projects have taken different forms given the geographical location and socioeconomic conditions of each of them. Through qualitative participatory and decolonial methodologies, such as semi-structured interviews, observation, and my position as a non-binary indigenous researcher (seen as a non-hegemonic man), the research identifies the challenges and opportunities that each organization has gone through its construction in order to recognize the stories and knowledge of women of color, primarily indigenous and black women in contemporary society. The contribution of this study focuses on two main objectives: first, the recognition of indigenous and black women in the construction of knowledge in economic models; and second, the analysis of racial and generic structures and their impact on women's organizations of color through juxtaposition and intersectional analysis. In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach
