Book Los castellanos del Per

Download or read book Los castellanos del Per written by Luis Andrade Ciudad and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-09-08 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Education Reform in Contemporary Spain

Download or read book Education Reform in Contemporary Spain written by Oliver Boyd-Barrett and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002-11-01 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 2004. Oliver Boyd-Barrett and Pamela O’Malley have brought together a collection of the best recently published and specially commissioned articles that chart the rapid and extensive process of education reform in Spain since 1970. The articles cover in detail all the key measures of reform and the relevant changes in legislation and government policy since the 1970 Ley General de Educación. They also set these changes within their historical context. The book shows that the process of reform in Spain has been characterized by both idealism and conflict and has been notable for its sheer pace. Topics covered include democratization and decentralization, curriculum reform, vocational and technical education, and the leading partners in education such as the Ministry of Education and Science, teacher unions and governors. This book is a significant contribution to the study of worldwide processes of education reform and will be of interest to comparative educationists, those who have a professional interest in education in Spain, and also anyone with a more general interest in modern Spain.

Book History of Chess

Download or read book History of Chess written by H. J. R. Murray and published by e-artnow. This book was released on 2022-01-04 with total page 877 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Murray's History of Chess is regarded as the most authoritative and most comprehensive history of the game. Murray's aim is threefold: to present as complete a record as is possible of the varieties of chess that exist or have existed in different parts of the world; to investigate the ultimate origin of these games and the circumstances of the invention of chess; and to trace the development of the modern European game from the first appearance of its ancestor, the Indian chaturanga, in the beginning of the 7th century. The first part of the book describes the history of the Asiatic varieties of chess, the Arabic and Persian literature on chess, and the theory and practice of the game of shatranj. The second part is concerned with chess in Europe in the Middle Ages, its role in literature and in the moralities, and with medieval chess problems, leading up to the beginning of modern chess and the history of the modern game through to the 19th century.

Book The Jews in Sicily Volume 7 1478 1489

Download or read book The Jews in Sicily Volume 7 1478 1489 written by Shlomo Simonsohn and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2005-11-01 with total page 671 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume in the series "Documentary History of the Jews in Italy" illustrates the history of the Jews in Sicily from 1478 to 1489. It is the sequel to the first six volumes and covers the events during the first years of the rule of King Ferdinand II. These include the prelude to the expulsion, which witnessed a further deterioration in the position of the Jews on the island. At the same time, the Jewish community on the island reached the points of its greatest expansion in population as well as economic prosperity. Some 900 documents--many of them published here for the first time--record the fortunes of the Jews and their relationship with the authorities and their Christian neighbours. Much new information has come to light, and many facets of Jewish life in Sicily have been uncovered. The abundance of historical records in the archives of the Crown and of local authorities again compares favourably with the relative scarcity of surviving documentation in earlier centuries. Therefore, many documents had to be reported in summary form. The volume is provided with additional bibliography and indexes, while the introduction will appear at the end of the series on the history of the Jews of the island.
