Book Loose Leaf for The Physical Universe

Download or read book Loose Leaf for The Physical Universe written by Konrad B Krauskopf and published by McGraw-Hill Education. This book was released on 2019-01-23 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Physical Universe, 17e by Konrad Krauskopf and Arthur Beiser is an outstanding text with a long history. For the 17th edition, real student data points and input, derived from thousands of our LearnSmart and SmartBook users, were used to guide the revision. Heat Maps provided clear visual snapshots of usage of portions of the text and the relative difficulty students experienced in mastering the content. This data was used to direct many of the revisions for this new edition. Of course, many updates have also been made according to changing scientific data, based on current events and so forth. Aimed at presenting the essentials of physics, chemistry, earth science, and astronomy in a clear, easy-to-understand way, The Physical Universe shows students how science works, how scientists approach problems, and why science constantly evolves in its search for understanding.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In light of the barrage of popular books on physics and cosmology, one may question the need for another. Here, two books especially come to mind: Steven Weinberg's The First Three Minutes, written 12 years ago, and the recent best-seller ABriefHistory of Time by Stephen Hawking. The two books are complementary. Weinberg-Nobel prize winner/physicist-wrote from the standpoint of an elementary particle physicist with emphasis on the contents of the universe, whereas Hawking wrote more as a general relativist with emphasis on gravity and the geometry of the universe. Neither one, however, presented the complete story. Weinberg did not 13 venture back beyond the time when temperature was higher than 10 K and 32 perhaps as high as 10 K. He gave no explanation for the origin of particles and the singularity or source of the overwhelming radiation energy in our uni verse of one billion photons for each proton. Hawking presents a uni verse that has no boundaries, was not created, and will not be destroyed. The object of this book is to describe my new theory on the creation of our uni verse in a multi-universe cosmos. The new cosmological model eliminates the troublesome singularity-big bang theory and explains for the first time the origin of matter and the overwhelming electromagnetic radiation contained in the universe. My new theory also predicted the existence ofhigh-energy gamma rays, which were recendy detected in powerful bursts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrated Science is a straightforward, easy-to-read, but substantial introduction to the fundamental behavior of matter andenergy in living and nonliving systems. It is intended to servethe needs of non-science majors who must complete one or morescience courses as part of a general or basic studies requirement. Integrated Science provides an introduction to a scientificway of thinking as it introduces fundamental scientific concepts, often in historical context. Several features of the textprovide opportunities for students to experience the methodsof science by evaluating situations from a scientific point ofview. While technical language and mathematics are importantin developing an understanding of science, only the languageand mathematics needed to develop central concepts are used.No prior work in science is assumed.

Book Understanding the Universe

Download or read book Understanding the Universe written by Andrew Norton and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-05-13 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding the Universe: The Physics of the Cosmos from Quasars to Quarks explores how all areas of physics, from the very smallest scales to the very largest, come together to form our current understanding of the Universe. It takes readers on a fascinating journey, from the Big Bang and how the Universe has evolved, to how it appears now, and the possibilities for how it will continue to evolve in the future. It also explores the latest exciting developments in the area and how they impact our understanding of the Universe, such as quantum chromodynamics, black holes, dark energy, and gravitational waves. Equally importantly, it explains how we have come to know all of this about the Universe and details the limitations of our current understanding. This book is accessible to all introductory undergraduate students interested in the physical sciences. It prioritises a non-mathematical approach so it can be understood by all students, with only two algebraic equations in the book and any numerical calculations shown are limited to simple arithmetic. Key Features: Combines current understanding of quantum physics and cosmology, and includes the latest exciting developments from the field. Provides an accessible introduction to the topic, focusing on a non-mathematical presentation. Presents a comprehensive narrative on the subject and a coherent story.
