Book The Last Eve

    Book Details:
  • Author : Roland Greene
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2023-01-05
  • ISBN : 1639033602
  • Pages : 298 pages

Download or read book The Last Eve written by Roland Greene and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-01-05 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I chose The Last Eve as the title of this book because early in the Bible study, we learn that sin first came into a perfect world by the first Eve. She was created to be a helper for the first man Adam, who was first created, put in a perfect garden, and given instructions to dress and keep it. Also, he was given for food all that grew in the garden except the fruit of one tree, the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eve, who was created after Adam and from a part of Adam, was told by Adam of the instructions given to him by the Creator; otherwise, she could not have known that fruit from that tree was forbidden. Her desire to elevate herself above that which the Creator had given her is precisely the desire of women today and the reason a once great country, the United States of America along with the rest of the world, has now become so divided. As the apostle said, we can be nothing and have nothing except it be given to use by the One who created us. Passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the US Constitution giving women the right to vote gave her the opportunity she desired to again take that which is forbidden to her, to have authority over men (1 Timothy 2:12). The Congress of the United States is now nearly half women, who can be accurately described as the last Eve because like the first Eve, they have taken which is forbidden to them. They take part in making laws which have authority over men as well as women. At the judgment, those men who allow it will hear as the first Adam did because you have hearkened to the voice of your wife!

Book Balanced Leadership

Download or read book Balanced Leadership written by Leonard W. Heflich and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2018-06-09 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We need effective leaders today more than ever before. In fact, the root cause behind failed businesses and failed governments is usually either a lack of leadership or the presence of destructive or ineffective leadership. In this collection of dissertations on topics relevant to effective leadership, youll be challenged to think. Along the way, youll learn how to discover and clarify your mission, vision, and values; learn how to handle difficult people and situations; improve the performance of your people and teams; and communicate with coworkers, customers, and colleagues. Youll also learn about the leadershp continuum and its gradations and how to find the action, behavior, or decision that balances as best as possible benefits with costs. Balance is getting something just right. However, since the world is always changing, the sweet spot is always changing too. What was in balance yesterday may not be today. Like riding a bicycle, we constantly need to monitor our positions and make adjustments to compensate for curves and bumps in the road. Make sound decisions, build better teams, communicate more effectively, be appropriately flexible, and be appropriately strong, with the lessons, examples, and insights in Balanced Leadership.

Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Discover the game-changing theory of the cycles of history and what past generations can teach us about living through times of upheaval—with deep insights into the roles that Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials have to play—now with a new preface by Neil Howe. First comes a High, a period of confident expansion. Next comes an Awakening, a time of spiritual exploration and rebellion. Then comes an Unraveling, in which individualism triumphs over crumbling institutions. Last comes a Crisis—the Fourth Turning—when society passes through a great and perilous gate in history. William Strauss and Neil Howe will change the way you see the world—and your place in it. With blazing originality, The Fourth Turning illuminates the past, explains the present, and reimagines the future. Most remarkably, it offers an utterly persuasive prophecy about how America’s past will predict what comes next. Strauss and Howe base this vision on a provocative theory of American history. The authors look back five hundred years and uncover a distinct pattern: Modern history moves in cycles, each one lasting about the length of a long human life, each composed of four twenty-year eras—or “turnings”—that comprise history’s seasonal rhythm of growth, maturation, entropy, and rebirth. Illustrating this cycle through a brilliant analysis of the post–World War II period, The Fourth Turning offers bold predictions about how all of us can prepare, individually and collectively, for this rendezvous with destiny.

Book Roctogenarians

Download or read book Roctogenarians written by Mo Rocca and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2024-06-11 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From beloved CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Mo Rocca, author of New York Times bestseller Mobituaries, comes an inspiring collection of stories that celebrates the triumphs of people who made their biggest marks late in life. Eighty has been the new sixty for about twenty years now. In fact, there have always been late-in-life achievers, those who declined to go into decline just because they were eligible for social security. Journalist, humorist, and history buff Mo Rocca and coauthor Jonathan Greenberg introduce us to the people past and present who peaked when they could have been puttering—breaking out as writers, selling out concert halls, attempting to set land-speed records—and in the case of one ninety-year tortoise, becoming a first-time father. (Take that, Al Pacino!) In the vein of Mobituaries, Roctogenarians is a collection of entertaining and unexpected profiles of these unretired titans—some long gone (a cancer-stricken Henri Matisse, who began work on his celebrated cut-outs when he could no longer paint), some very much still living (Mel Brooks, yukking it up at close to one hundred). The amazing cast of characters also includes Mary Church Terrell, who at eighty-six helped lead sit-ins at segregated Washington, DC, lunch counters in the 1950s, and Carol Channing, who married the love of her life at eighty-two. Then there’s Peter Mark Roget, who began working on his thesaurus in his twenties and completed it at seventy-three (because sometimes finding the right word takes time.) With passion and wonder Rocca and Greenberg recount the stories of yesterday’s and today’s strongest finishers. Because with all due respect to the Golden Girls, some people will never be content sitting out on the lanai. (PS Actress Estelle Getty was sixty-two when she got her big break. And yes, she’s in the book.)

Book Killing the Indian Maiden

Download or read book Killing the Indian Maiden written by M. Marubbio and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2006-12-15 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Killing the Indian Maiden examines the fascinating and often disturbing portrayal of Native American women in film. M. Elise Marubbio examines the sacrificial role in which a young Native woman allies herself with a white male hero and dies as a result of that choice. In studying thirty-four Hollywood films from the silent period to the present, she draws upon theories of colonization, gender, race, and film studies to ground her analysis in broader historical and sociopolitical context and to help answer the question, “What does it mean to be an American?” The book reveals a cultural iconography embedded in the American psyche. As such, the Native American woman is a racialized and sexualized other. A conquerable body, she represents both the seductions and the dangers of the American frontier and the Manifest Destiny of the American nation to master it.
