Download or read book Look Alikes written by J.R. Poulter and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-05-31 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do I look like you? Do You look like Me? Are we so different? Let's look and see... A story for little ones showing ?same and different?, it identifies human and animal body parts and also demonstrates how, even though our skin colour might be different, all of us are basically alike! "Look Alikes is a wonderful way to teach children the delightful differences between humans and the wildlife that share our planet. Through rhyme, they are able to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness that exists with every species. It is a fantastic way to introduce children to the early stages of comparison, a common curriculum element taught in Australian schools." Adrienne T. O'Connell, B.A., Grad. Dip. Ed., taught children from indigenous classrooms in the outback to multicultural classrooms in the city. Toddlers love rhyming books and they love a giggle! This clever rhyming book with a surprise at each page turning will produce lots of giggles, as well as a reminder that we are all different and yet, intrinsically, the same. The invitation to ?Look in the mirror? gives every reader their own unique image to end the story. There is potential for extending the story with mask making and role play." Maureen O'Shea, Young People's Services Librarian, Noosa Library ServiceGreat concept and I love the simplicity of the illustrations and the message. The animal comparisons add a delightful sense of humour and the subtle change of skin colour for the key character emphasises how inconsequential this should be. Kerry Griffith, Children's Librarian, Moreton Bay RegLook Alikes by JR Poulter engages the toddler with a question at the end of each page. It's clever input of a range of animals allows the toddler to differentiate between animals as well as liken themselves to each animal. With JR Poulter's use of rhyme and Barb Dragony's simplistic illustrations, toddlers will delight in learning same and different through Look Alikes. Book Non prototypical Clefts in French

Download or read book Non prototypical Clefts in French written by Lena Karssenberg and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-09-24 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is the first large-scale corpus analysis of French il y a clefts. While most research on clefts focusses on the English ‘prototypical’ it-cleft and its equivalents across languages, this study examines the lesser-known il y a clefts – of both presentational-eventive and specificational type – and provides an in-depth analysis of their syntactic, semantic and discourse-functional properties. In addition to an extensive literature review and a comparison with Italian c’è clefts and with French c’est clefts, the strength of the study lies in the critical approach it develops to the common definition of clefts. Several commonly used criteria for clefts are applied to the corpus data, revealing that these criteria often lead to ambiguous results. The reasons for this ambiguity are explored, thus leading to a better understanding of what constitutes a cleft. In this sense, the analysis will be of interest to specialists of Romance and non-Romance clefts alike.
