Book Reinforced Concrete

Download or read book Reinforced Concrete written by Edward G. Nawy and published by Prentice Hall. This book was released on 2009 with total page 940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For one-semester, junior/senior-level and graduate courses in Reinforced Concrete in the department of civil engineering. Now reflecting the new 2008 ACI 318-08 Code and the new International Building Code (IBC-2006), the Sixth Edition of this cutting-edge text has been extensively revised to present state-of-the-art developments in reinforced concrete. It analyzes the design of reinforced concrete members through a unique and practical step-by-step trial and adjustment procedure. The narrative is supplemented with flowcharts to guide students logically through the learning process. Ample photographs of instructional testing of concrete members decreases the need for actual laboratory testing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Serviceability failures of concrete structures involving excessive cracking or deflection are relatively common, even in structures that comply with code requirements. This is often as a result of a failure to adequately account for the time-dependent deformations of concrete in the design of the structure. The serviceability provisions embodied in

Book Long Term Deflection of Concrete Members Reinforced with Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer Bars

Download or read book Long Term Deflection of Concrete Members Reinforced with Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer Bars written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents the results of an exceptional experimental investigation of the lon-term deflection behabviour of the concrete beams reinforced with glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars. The long-term defelections of the GFRP reinforced beams are compared to deflections of the identical beams reinforced with steel bars. All beams were under sustained loading for approximately 8 months. The variables were the level of sustained loading and the reinforement materials: steel or GFRP. The experimental immediate and long- term defelections using CEB-FIP Model Code 1990, and the ACI-318-95code using the recommendations of the ACI Committe 209; these references for steel reinforced concrete members. The test result indicate that under similar loading conditions and the same reinforcement ratio, the GRFP-reinforced beams had long term defecltions, due to creep and shrinkage, 1.7 times greater than those of the steel-reinforcedb eams. A comparison of the theoretical and experimental immediate and long term deflections indicates that the CEB-FIP Model Code 1990 gives reasonable predictions for all beams, and that the ACI 318-95 code, using the ACI Committee 209 recommendations, overestimates the defelctions due to the combined effects of creep and shrinkage.

Book High Strength Reinforcement in Reinforced Concrete Beams

Download or read book High Strength Reinforcement in Reinforced Concrete Beams written by S. D. Lash and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It is concluded high strength reinforcing bars have substantially greater fatigue strength than intermediate grade bars. A formula for allowable working stresses is proposed based on yield stress and the ratio of dead load moment to live load moment"--p. [ii].
