Book How to Live a Life of Righteousness Peace and Joy

Download or read book How to Live a Life of Righteousness Peace and Joy written by Robert P. Holland and published by . This book was released on 2018-05-10 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We were created by God to live a life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with Him regardless of circumstances (Genesis 1-3). Instructions for living the life He created us to live are found in the Old Testament. The Gospels are the accounts of Jesus both living and teaching us how to live the life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God.Jesus' death on the cross as the atonement for our sin of 'rejection of living the life God created us to live' gives us another chance to live the life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God. The First Adam, even on behalf of all unborn generations, missed the mark, but the Second Adam, Jesus Christ, has restored us to this blessed fellowship with the Father of light. The Epistles or Letters in the New Testament are additional instructions given by the Holy Spirit to those who have believed on Jesus to live the life God created them to live. The book of Revelation is an account of those who reject the life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God and those who have been given another chance through faith in Jesus Christ to live the life God created them to live. Revelation concludes with an eternal separation from God for those who reject God's blueprint for Christian living; and an eternal kingdom, the New Jerusalem, for those who choose the life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God.There are two levels of righteousness, joy, and peace in fellowship with God as documented in the New Testament. Justification is the first level and is received when we repent of rejecting God's plan for our life and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ who died as a substitute for our rejection of that life.Justification is not only being forgiven for rejecting the life God created us to live, but it is being restored to the life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God as though we had never rejected it. We are righteous by faith, have peace with God , and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God (Romans 5:1-2)--righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God.Sanctification is the second level of righteousness. Justification is being restored to the life God created us to live in fellowship with Him. And, sanctification is living the life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God.The first level of the life God created us to live is found in Romans 5:1-2, and the second level is found in Matthew 5:6, 9, 11-12. The righteous on the first level are justified or righteous by faith (Romans 5:1). On the second level, they are hungering and thirsting after righteousness (Matthew 5:6). Those who have peace with God in Romans 5:1 are peacemakers in Matthew 5:9, and those who rejoice in the hope of the glory of God in Romans 5:2 are the ones rejoicing in the times of persecution in Matthew 5:11-12.Rejoicing in the times of persecution (Matthew 5:11-12) is an example of living the life of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God regardless of circumstances. The apostles obeyed the commandment and rejoiced in the times of persecution (Acts 4:24-31; 7:54-60; 16:16-25).In Romans 8:35, Paul asks, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" Then, he lists some of the things that happen to those who are living the life God created them to live.Paul concludes chapter eight by writing that nothing shall be able to separate those living the life God created them to live from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Each chapter of How to Live a Life of Righteousness Peace and Joy REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCES is an amplification of the two levels of righteousness, peace, and joy in fellowship with God--justification and sanctification. The transition from justification to sanctification is explained through God calling the justified to be disciples (Matthew 28:18-20), priests (Revelation 1:5-6), ministers of reconciliation, and ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).

Book More about the Kingdom of God

Download or read book More about the Kingdom of God written by John H. Shafer and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-11 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More about the Kingdom of God is a book the whole church can read and study. Whether as an individual study or discussing in an Adult Bible Class or a Life Group, students will find using this book an exciting and insightful way to learn and understand more about the Kingdom of God. For about two thousand years, many Christians have read about the Kingdom of God in New Testament scripture and never really understood its meaning or relevance to their daily lives as believers. Not only this, but the fact that the phrase "Kingdom of God" is not found in Old Testament scriptures would, in itself, raise some curiosity about why it is found readily within the New Testament. One would think the spoken words of Jesus on this subject, which were written down, would be easily interpreted and followed. None of that holds true with the subject of the Kingdom of God. John Shafer says, "The riches and nearness of the Kingdom of God are closer than you think. If you want to know more, this study will help you find it. Living in the Kingdom is not something that is only to be enjoyed when one goes to heaven. When you find it, nothing will be more important and living in it will become your ultimate joy. You will learn during this study that the Kingdom of God involves two great moments: fulfillment within history (already in the form of Jesus) and consummation at the end of history (not yet). Living in the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Book GRACE and SHALOM

Download or read book GRACE and SHALOM written by Robert P. Holland and published by . This book was released on 2019-04-25 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grace and peace are in the salutation of all the letters written by the Apostle Paul in the New Testament. Grace and peace summarize the Christian life. Grace delivers us from a life of sin and death and trains us to live a new life of peace--shalom. Dark waters on the cover of GRACE & SHALOM represent the deep referred to in Genesis 1:2. "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." It was amid the deep that God created the heaven and earth separating the waters above the heaven from the water under the earth (Genesis 1:6-8). The Bible begins with creation out of darkness upon the face of the deep in Genesis 1:1 and ends with a new heaven and earth and no more sea in Revelation 21:1. From Genesis to Revelation, there is a continual battle of darkness trying to put out the light. And from Genesis through Revelation, we read about the Holy Spirit giving grace and shalom to save people from darkness. GRACE & SHALOM expounds upon grace and shalom available to those who answer God's call to come out of darkness into the marvelous light of Jesus Christ. And it is through grace and shalom that they are trained to walk in the light until they are in the new Jerusalem where the Lamb is the light and there is no more darkness (Revelation 21:23). Romans 5:1-5 is an outline of the Christian life from the time we come out of darkness until we are living on the new earth where there is no more darkness. It is also the outline of GRACE & SHALOM. Justification (vs. 1) begins when we accept God's grace, Jesus Christ, (John 3:16) by faith. Justification is completed when we are delivered by grace out of darkness into the light of the world, Jesus Christ (John 8:12). Peace (shalom) with God (vs. 1) is fellowship with Jesus Christ the light of the world. Rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God (vs.2) is living the first fruits of the light of the coming kingdom of God, righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). Not only do those who have peace with God rejoice in the hope of the glory of God but also in tribulation (vs.3). Rejoicing in tribulation is living a life of light in darkness empowered by the love of God poured into the heart of those who are justified by faith in Jesus Christ (vs. 5). Romans 5:1-5 explains the transformation of those who receive God's love in John 3:16 to save them out of the world and being given the same love of God (Romans 5:5) to love the same world they came out of as God loves it. Jesus called the transformation "born again" (John 3:3, 5) and "the light of the world" (Matthew 5:14).In the Book of Acts, we read about the many attempts of darkness trying to overcome the Apostle Paul. God's grace and shalom were enough for him (2 Corinthians 12:9), and he wrote. "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:35, 37-39 NKJV).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believers know that when we die we enter heaven and will spend eternity there with God and the saints who have gone before us. But what actually happens in heaven? What are we going to be doing there? Won't it get boring at some point? According to Scripture, a large part of our experience of heaven will be a continual revealing of God's glory. Not just his glory in the moment, but during all of time. The mysteries of providence, the hidden movements of God throughout history, and the forgotten and unnoted works of even the most obscure of God's people will be unveiled so that we can see how wise, loving, gracious, and powerful our God is. And though we will experience perfection in heaven, we will never be omniscient, which means we will always be learning more about God's glory, inspiring us to return joyful praise and thanksgiving. If your vision of heaven has been limited to clouds and harps and angels, it's time to expand that view with the truth found in this biblically based look at the afterlife.

Book excerpt: A fresh look at the earliest Christian movement reveals what made the new faith so compelling...and what we need to change today to make it so again. Once upon a time there was a version of the Christian faith that was practically irresistible. After all, what could be more so than the gospel that Jesus ushered in? Why, then, isn't it the same with Christianity today? Author and pastor Andy Stanley is deeply concerned with the present-day church and its future. He believes that many of the solutions to our issues can be found by investigating our roots. In Irresistible, Andy chronicles what made the early Jesus Movement so compelling, resilient, and irresistible by answering these questions: What did first-century Christians know that we don't—about God's Word, about their lives, about love? What did they do that we're not doing? What makes Christianity so resistible in today's culture? What needs to change in order to repeat the growth our faith had at its beginning? Many people who leave or disparage the faith cite reasons that have less to do with Jesus than with the conduct of his followers. It's time to hit pause and consider the faith modeled by our first-century brothers and sisters who had no official Bible, no status, and little chance of survival. It's time to embrace the version of faith that initiated—against all human odds—a chain of events resulting in the most significant and extensive cultural transformation the world has ever seen. This is a version of Christianity we must remember and re-embrace if we want to be salt and light in an increasingly savorless and dark world.
