His mother was the daughter and heiress of Rohert Ardeu of Wellingcote. Shakspeare was the eldest of ten children, and received the 6rst rudiments of his education at the free school of Stratford. His stay there, however, was short j for, after applying some time to the study of the Latin language, he was removed, prohahly on account of the misfortunes of his father, to assist him in his husiness.
