Book excerpt: This is the story about how a little olive tree is entwined throughout the lives of a mischievous Irish girl and a wild Viking boy who became enemies and moved far away from each other. When the wind would blow gently through the peaceful olive trees leaves, the girl could almost hear it quietly asking for a do over or a lets forgive and become friends again; but of course the girl could not, because it takes two people to make a do over, not just a girl and a little olive tree. It is a bittersweet story reminding people to spread kindness and forgiveness before it is too late, especially to those closest to us.

As the townspeople grapple with their problems, mild and dire, Olive is brought to a deeper understanding of herself and her life—sometimes painfully, but always with ruthless honesty. Olive Kitteridge offers profound insights into the human condition—its conflicts, its tragedies and joys, and the endurance it requires. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Born from Professor George C. Klein's adoption of two Romanian babies in 1990, this work is a personal and analytical autobiography. Compiling data from the 1989 Romanian revolution, the oppression that led to the overthrow of Communism, and his personal experiences in Romania, The Adventure is primarily a description of the torturous process he and his wife endured in order to adopt two babies from a Romanian orphanage. It is also an examination of Romanian society from an institutional, national, and global perspective. The author analyzes individual issues such as forced pregnancies, neglect in orphanages, and economic deprivation. Professor Klein examines how the Romanian Communist Party held power in that era and explores the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe. His adept study discusses the various socio-economic and political factors that led to the collapse of Communism, and, ultimately, to the successful adoption of his Romanian children."--BOOK JACKET.

Why olive plants? When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants all around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD. (Psalms 128:2aEUR"4) In this blessing, God compared your children to olive plants and commissioned them to be all around your table. My question was, aEURoeWhy olive plants?aEUR Here are some facts I found about the olive tree: The olive tree is one of the most beloved, sacred trees in Israel. It has strong roots that live for thousands of years. They are evergreen trees bearing valuable fruit all year long. Olive trees can grow in a rocky environment with poor soil conditions. They need a sunny position and regular watering to thrive. The olive tree grows quickly the first four years, producing a beautiful white flower. Maturing of the olive tree slows down, developing fruit several years later. The olive leaf extract possesses extreme healing properties. The olive branch is a symbol of peace. The expensive olive wood is fragrant, colorful, dense, and durable. The wood is used for fine furniture and the making of items of religious significance. The wood is seasoned and cleaned by applying oil and rubbing with salt. The olive fruit is very bitter if not processed correctly. With careful preparation, it is a delicious, salty addition to our diet. The Israelites considered an abundance of oil as a sign of prosperity and favor. The olive oil is used to produce light and as an anointing oil for healing. Judges 9:9 says that oil was used to honor God and men. The olive tree is cherished and loved for what it gives the nation of Israel. Our little olive plants should be cherished and loved for what they can do for the kingdom of God.

Book Little Olive

    Book Details:
  • Author : Kimberly Hoffman
  • Publisher : Fulton Books, Inc.
  • Release : 2023-10-06
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 39 pages

Download or read book Little Olive written by Kimberly Hoffman and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-10-06 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Little Olive spent the afternoon exploring her new neighborhood, discovering a garden in the park filled with daisies. "Love me, love me not," she whispered. She walked a little farther and found a patch of green clover among three weeping willows. As the breeze nipped her nose, she sprawled in the shade. The weeping willows sang to her in hushed voices while she searched for a four-leaf clover. Maybe if she found a four-leaf clover, she'd have a little luck in finding friends, she thought. As the sun began to set, Little Olive headed toward home. She lumbered along, head hung low, murmuring her thoughts out loud, "Will anyone in this new place like me? How am I going to find friends?" Little Olive is a book about discovery and self-acceptance. It is the third published book by Kimberly Hoffman. Other books include Grandpa Paul, the River Pirate and Planting Pickles with Papa Dan. One of the best parts of storytelling is taking real life and adding a twist of fiction. All of Hoffman's works are based on real people, real events, and now real dogs. Hoffman's love of dogs moved her to feature Little Olive, her eleven-pound Italian greyhound, in this heartwarming story about feeling different. While Little Olive is the key character, the book was inspired by Hoffman's eldest daughter, Katelyn. All twelve dogs (and a cat) portrayed in the book have been part of Hoffman's extended family. The characteristics portrayed, clear down to Ted E Bear smelling like strawberries, are all true. Quinn is "quanky," and Piper does have a directional tail. And Penny the chihuahua? She's a talker for sure. Then there's Little Olive. She is especially unique with her blind left eye and toothless grin but oh so adorable in countless ways. Her spirit shines through as she overcomes her fears while simultaneously discovering that everyone (and every dog) is wonderfully different.
