Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Little Women meets My Little Pony in this new graphic novel interpretation of the literary classic about love, life, and sisterhood. Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, and Rarity appear as the March sisters, who harbor dreams of life beyond Broncord, Massahoofetts. Rainbow Dash yearns for excitement—something to write about. So when Applejack, the Marches’ neighbor, arrives home with tales of eel wrangling and apple eating, Rainbow Dash and her sisters dare to hope for more. Soon, Twilight finds herself in conflict with high-society mage Trixie, Fluttershy contracts a nasty case of Pony Pox, and Rarity and Rainbow Dash are fighting about, well, everything. Through difficult times and surprising challenges, the fillies work together to be better sisters and friends. Little Fillies captures a message that is as central to My Little Pony as it is to Louisa May Alcott’s timeless novel: Nothing is more important than family.

Download or read book Cloud written by Ginger Kathrens and published by Fox Chapel Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This bestselling book, originally published as a companion volume for public television’s Nature series, Cloud: The Wild Stallion of the Rockies is documentary filmmaker Ginger Kathrens’s personal retelling of her years following the wild horse she named Cloud. Beautifully designed, the book is elaborately photographed and divided into seventeen chapters that follow the life of a wild stallion, just one of hundreds of horses that have roamed wild in the Rocky Mountains for two hundred years. The book begins with the author and filmmaker witnessing the birth of a helpless white colt, that will soon capture her heart and imagination. Each subsequent chapter documents Cloud’s interaction with his mare Raven, his brother Diamond, and other colts in the wild as well as his adventures encountering dangerous predators, older stallions, and human trappers. The author follows Cloud over the course of five years, taking note of his physical and behavioral development, as his begins to take on more of a leadership role in the band of wild bachelors he’s joined, to become a fighter, a survivor, and a father. Kathrens’s emotional involvement in Cloud’s story is palpable, such as when she tearfully watches the young stallion get captured by trappers. Due to his unusual coloration, he is set free, though the other members of his band and sisters are removed and sold. Returning to the mountains every season, the author continues to look for Cloud in the vast wild habitat, always relieved to find him still living, despite fights, predators, and encounters with trappers. She is later is touched to see how Cloud, the five-year-old mare, grazes with his yearling son, the first of his new family. Kathrens’s gripping observations of wild horses of the Arrowheads, their fights, struggles, and alliances, give the reader much insight into the fascinating behavior of these wild horses. Now published in paperback for the first time, this updated and fully redesigned volume coincides with the one year anniversary of the last sighting of Cloud.

Book excerpt: Rupert Campbell-Black takes centre stage once more, this time in the cut-throat world of flat racing. Rupert is consumed by one obsession: that Love Rat, his adored grey horse, be proclaimed champion stallion. He longs to trounce Roberto's Revenge, the stallion owned by his detested rival Cosmo Rannaldini, which means abandoning his racing empire at Penscombe and his darling wife Taggie, and chasing winners in the richest races worldwide, from Dubai to Los Angeles to Melbourne. Luckily, the fort at home is held by Rupert's assistant Gav, a genius with horses, fancied by every stable lass, but damaged by alcoholism and a vile wife. When Gala, a grieving but ravishing Zimbabwean widow moves to Penscombe as carer for Rupert's wayward father, it is not just Gav who is attracted to her: a returning Rupert finds himself dangerously tempted. Gala adores horses, and when she switches to working in the yard, her carer's job is taken by a devastatingly handsome South African man who claims to be gay but seems far keener on caring for the angelic Taggie. And as increasingly sinister acts of sabotage strike at Penscombe, the game of musical loose boxes gathers apace . . . ----------------------------------- 'Packed with warmth, wit, and unforgettable characters, this is an utterly joyous read' Daily Express 'Pure, unadulterated joy' Sophie Kinsella 'It's Cooper doing what she does best ... it's a thoroughly enjoyable roll in the hay' The Times 'Witty and wonderful, as always' Trisha Ashley 'This endlessly fun humdinger of a novel is an absolute riot' Heat

Book excerpt: What happens when the future invades the present? Tom was only 13 years old when he vanished without a trace, so it is not surprising that the stranger who shows up 36 years later claiming to be Tom is thought to be an imposter. But what if he is the boy grown to be a young man, returned not from the past but from the future-a future with faster-than-light spacecraft, death-dealing ray guns, humanoid robots, menacing aliens, bug-eyed monsters, heroic spacemen, captivating spacewomen, megalomaniacal madmen, sentient dinosaurs, and bioengineered cats? If Tom is telling the truth, an interstellar conflict whose origin lies centuries in the future has spilled over into the present-and the past, present, and future are entwined in a riddle for which there appears to be no answer. The Solar Patrol is a blend of space opera and hard science fiction set in the past as it never was and the future as it used to be.
