  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2008-01-16
  • ISBN : 1462833071
  • Pages : 362 pages

Download or read book The J E D P Murders written by Rev. Thomas F. O’Donnell Esq. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-01-16 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First, Tucker's ex-wife turns up murdered on the very same day that he comes out of a four-year coma. For no apparent reason, she is found lying on the floor of her apartment strangled to death. No note, no nothing. Three months later a high society "escort" meets a similar fate. A cryptic biblical reference is left behind, signed only by "J." Within the week, two more bodies show up. First, liberal theologian Noah Templeton is found drowned in his bathtub after winning the prestigious Sophia award. Another biblical reference, this time signed by "E." Seventy-two hours later atheist extraordinaire Winston Caine turns up dead in his hotel room. Caine is bludgeoned to death beyond recognition with a note from "D" pinned to his chest. J. E. D. Three down and one to go. All that remains is P. Who's next? J, E, D, and P, short-hand names for the anonymous writers of the first five books of the Old Testament. J, the Yahwhist. E, the Elohimist. D, the Deuteronomist. And P, the Priestly writer. But what does it all mean? There is an "evangelical Christian whacko" on the loose, single-handedly trying to rid the world of persons with loose morals and those heathens who don't fall in line. That's what GOD is saying. Not that God. The other one. G.O.D. Garrett Osborne Donalty, the nighttime shock jock who comes to you every night from seven to ten over radio station W.O.R.D. The police don't seem tuned in to GOD, though. Nor do they seem to have a clue. In fact, incredible as it sound, they may be in on it. It's either a "whacko," or a cover up, or??? Whatever it is, one by one the pieces of the puzzle seem to be falling into the hands of none other than Reverend Tucker Tolliver. All poor Tucker wants to do is to bring Sarah's killer to justice and get on with his life in the peaceful serenity of a brand new seminary named in his honor. But like it or not, he seems to be the only one connecting the dots, and the picture he gets when he connects them isn't very pretty. Sometimes seminaries aren't as peaceful and serene as they are cracked up to be.

Book Fascist Lizards from Outer Space

Download or read book Fascist Lizards from Outer Space written by Dan Copp and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2017-03-10 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Kenneth Johnson's science fiction miniseries V premiered in 1983, it netted more than 40 percent of the television viewing audience and went on to spawn a sequel, a weekly series, novelizations, comic books and a remake. Yet the 2009 V reboot was cancelled in its second season, despite a robust premiere. Both versions were products of their respective times, but the original was inspired by classic works by the likes of Sinclair Lewis and Leo Tolstoy. Johnson's predilection for literature and history helped give his telling of V a sense of heart and depth that the contemporary version sorely lacked. Featuring exclusive interviews with cast and crew, this book examines V's cultural impact and considers the future of the franchise.

Book Adopted for Life Updated and Expanded Edition

Download or read book Adopted for Life Updated and Expanded Edition written by Russell Moore and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2015-10-14 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The doctrine of adoption—God's decision to adopt sinful men and women into his family—stands at the heart of Christianity. In light of this, Christians' efforts to adopt beautifully illustrate the truth of the gospel. In this popular-level and practical manifesto, Russell Moore encourages Christians to adopt children and to help other Christian families to do the same. He shows that adoption is not just about couples who have struggled to have children. Rather, it's about an entire culture within evangelicalism—a culture that sees adoption as part of the Great Commission mandate and as a sign of the gospel itself.

Download or read book Flight 93 written by Tom McMillan and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-09-11 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: United Airlines Flight 93, which took off from Newark Airport the morning of September 11th, 2001, is perhaps the most famous flight in modern American history: We know of the passenger uprising, but there’s so much more to the story besides its harrowing and oft-told climax. Amazingly, the definitive account of this seminal event has yet to be written. The book offers the most complete account of what actually took place aboard Flight 93 – from its delayed takeoff in Newark to the moment it plunged upside-down at 563 miles per hour into an open field in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Flight 93 provides a riveting and complete narrative of the lead-up, event, and aftermath of the flight, based on interviews, oral histories, personal tours of the crash site and evidence recently made public. It examines the lead-up to that horrific morning; the stories of the victims who were launched into the center of history; the revolt that saved untold amounts of carnage on the ground and likely, the US Capitol; the eyewitnesses and first responders who rushed to the crash scene; the impact on family members; the effort to uncover evidence at the site; and the legacy the story leaves for future generations.

Book excerpt: Thomas Schreiner, a respected scholar and a trusted voice for many students and pastors, offers a substantial and accessibly written overview of the whole Bible. He traces the storyline of the scriptures from the standpoint of biblical theology, examining the overarching message that is conveyed throughout. Schreiner emphasizes three interrelated and unified themes that stand out in the biblical narrative: God as Lord, human beings as those who are made in God's image, and the land or place in which God's rule is exercised. The goal of God's kingdom is to see the king in his beauty and to be enraptured in his glory.

Book Lights for Life Sirens for Suffering

Download or read book Lights for Life Sirens for Suffering written by LeeJean Heller and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2020-11-09 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we are trained as first responders, it is impossible to be ready for everything we may be faced with. Commonly, a lot of it is covered by book learning, but the worst is not. How can anyone prepare you for some of the sights and pain you will experience? Each call is different, and the more years you serve, the more chances you will eventually be faced with hard-to-recover-from events. Balancing the good, bad, and ugly is sometimes difficult. We have a plan for many situations; however, there are those that are hard to believe even for seasoned but caring humans. These are the unforgettable events that some do not feel comfortable to even talk about, ever. Or they feel like they can but no one really wants to hear about it. Who can be prepared for arriving on the scene and it is their best friend, their mother, or their only son? Training can slip away and they can become a victim too. This book contains events and circumstances that can and do happen to us as first responders. However, it can and does happen to others too. I have found that talking about it with others helps tremendously. If we do not reach out to others, how can we expect them to know how or when to help us? I have also found, for me, helping others in similar circumstances helps me to heal. Working together with the police, fire, and EMS is a must. We are brothers and sisters, which means, a family. We are much more comfortable wearing the helper hat than the help-me hat. But first, we have to acknowledge, we are humans too. Thank you, Jonathan Peters, PhD, who not only encouraged my writing but helped me put it all together into a book.
