Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The freezing points of the system methanol-glycol-water were investigated by Conrad, Hill and Ballman to determine the suitability of such mixtures for use as an antifreeze. The low freezing points obtained seem to warrant further investigation of other properties of the system. Especially important would be the vapor-liquid equilibrium relations of the system, since one of the desirable features of such a mixture would be low vapor pressures. It is well known that when one substance is dissolved in another, each lowers the vapor pressure of the other. It was for the purpose of determining these relations that the present investigation was undertaken"--Introduction, leaf 1.

This book was released on 2012-08-10 with total page 777 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A large amount of experimental data has been published since the debut of the original CRC Handbook of Thermodynamic Data of Aqueous Polymer Solutions. Incorporating new and updated material, the CRC Handbook of Phase Equilibria and Thermodynamic Data of Aqueous Polymer Solutions provides a comprehensive collection of thermodynamic data of polymer solutions. It helps readers quickly retrieve necessary information from the literature, and assists researchers in planning new measurements where data are missing. A valuable resource for the modern chemistry field, the Handbook clearly details how measurements were conducted and methodically explains the nomenclature. It presents data essential for the production and use of polymers as well as for understanding the physical behavior and intermolecular interactions in polymer solutions.

Download or read book Determination of Vapor Liquid Equilibrium Data for the Methanol Water System written by Geraldine Anne Clifford and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methanol and water, at ordinary temperatures form a two-phase, two-component system, which according to the phase rule, can be completely described by two independent variables. For solutions of varying concentrations, either the boiling points at constant pressure, or the equilibrium-vapor pressures at constant temperature are useful for the study of the system. However, because the relationship of partial and total vapor pressure to composition at constant temperature can be checked theoretically by means of the equations discussed below, this is the criteria most often used for the study.
