Book The Vapor Pressure of Uranium Hexafluoride

Download or read book The Vapor Pressure of Uranium Hexafluoride written by R. H. Crist and published by . This book was released on 1947 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The vapor pressure of uranium hexafluoride, has been determined from 0 deg C to 85 deg C in a copper apparatus. The data obtained are given by the two equations log 10 P mm Hg = 2623.3/T + 10.8407 (solid, vapor), log 10 P mm Hg = -1505.9/T + 7.5223 (liquid, vapor) and the latent heats are: delta H sub sub = 12.00 kg-cal, delta H sub vap = 6.89 kg-cal. The experimental arrangement is shown in Figure 1. This consists of a reservoir A in a thermostat and a brass sylphon bellows for the measurement of pressure by a null method. The pressure above an atmosphere was read on a multiple mercury manometer using dibutylphthalate as a piston liquid. p2.

Book Equation of State of Uranium Dioxide

Download or read book Equation of State of Uranium Dioxide written by C. Ronchi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-07-21 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monograph deals with the thermodynamic properties of fluid uranium dioxide, one of the most investigated materials of the last century, up to its critical point. It presents an exhaustive theoretical introduction to "quasi-chemical" models of liquids, as well as their behaviour under non-congruent vaporisation conditions. Particular emphasis is given to the properties of pure Coulombic systems and to the pseudoparticle approach, which enables the partition function to be expressed in a simple, but physically rigorous formulation. The construction of the equation of state of stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric uranium dioxide is described in distinct steps, from a critical assessment of the theoretical fundamentals to a thorough review of the pertinent thermochemical and thermophysical data. Calculations of the thermodynamic properties of UO2+x are performed for temperatures up to 11,000 K both for the condensed and gas phase. More than one hundred tables are collected in the Appendix containing all relevant thermodynamic data.

Book Analyses of Vaporization in Liquid Uranium Bearing Systems at Very High Temperatures

Download or read book Analyses of Vaporization in Liquid Uranium Bearing Systems at Very High Temperatures written by Larry Kaufman and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis has been carried out to explore the feasibility of selecting a liquid uranium bearing material system which might function as a heat exchanger for hydrogen gas at 100 atm. pressure and 8,000 - 10,000 degrees R. Additional constraints are imposed by the requirements of a high impulse nuclear engine. The over-all objectives of this study are the identification of candidate elemental components to be alloyed with uranium, the specification of compositions which could provide possibilities for unique stability such as congruencies, and the comparison of mass loss rates due to vaporization of elemental components from the liquid surface and diffusion of backing material into the liquid.
