Book Liquefied Petroleum Gas LPG Storage Design

Download or read book Liquefied Petroleum Gas LPG Storage Design written by Jacqlyn Jonatan and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is common fuel used for domestics, industrial and commercial appliances in Malaysia. Homes in Malaysia get LPG cylinders in various sizes offered by supplier, but most of them using 14kg cylinder. Generally, LPG composed of volatile low boiling point gases - ethane, propane, propene, iso-butane, n-butane, but-1-ene, iso-butene, trans-2-butene, cis-2-butene, and also iso-pentane and n-pentane due to the availability of higher boiling point components. When LPG is used, the low boiling point components will evaporate and the high boiling point components will stay in the cylinder. The research aimes to design an exploratory instrumentation for liquid LPG sampling under pressure, to explore the composition of liquid LPG in the LPG cylinder used in Malaysia and conclude whether some of the product might stay in the cylinder as liquid component after the volatiles are used. When the availability of high boiling point components which in turn will stay in the cylinder after it is empty from low boiling point components was proved, the research aimes to recommend a new idea for LPG cylinder design that is more energy-efficient. The first stage of the research was to design the easy and safe exploratory instrumentation for liquid LPG sampling under pressure and collect a sample. Then, the second stage is to determine the LPG composition using the available gas chromatography (GC) column available in FKKSA laboratory. The composition analysed and the retention time then compared to the reference for each of the expected substances to be exist in the LPG mixtures. The third stage is to propose a new design of LPG cylinder based on the existance of liquid component LPG in the LPG cylinder. The design is proposed based on the existance of the liquid LPG in used up LPG cylinder in Malaysia.

Book Design and Construction of LNG Storage Tanks

Download or read book Design and Construction of LNG Storage Tanks written by Josef Rötzer and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-08-15 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Design and Construction of LNG Storage Tanks

Download or read book Design and Construction of LNG Storage Tanks written by Josef Rötzer and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-11-11 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Worldwide, the use of natural gas as a primary energy source will remain vital for decades to come. This applies to industrialized, emerging countries and developing countries. Owing to the low level of impurities, natural gas is considered to be a climate-friendly fossil fuel because of the low CO2 emissions, but is at the same time an affordable source of energy. In order to enable transport over long distances and oceans (and hence create an economic and political alternative to pipelines) , the gas is liquefied, which is accompanied by a considerable reduction in volume, and then transported by ship. Thus, at international ports, many LNG tanks are required for temporary storage and further use. The trend towards smaller liquefaction and regasification plants with associated storage tanks for marine fuel applications has attracted new players in this market who often do not yet have the necessary experience and technical expertise. It is not sufficient to refer to all existing technical standards when defining consistent state-of-the-art specifications and requirements. The switch to European standardisation has made it necessary to revise and adapt existing national codes to match European standards. Technical committees at national and international level have begun their work of updating and completing the EN 14620 series. In the USA, too, the corresponding regulations are also being updated. The revision of American Concrete Institute standard ACI 376 Requirements for Design and Construction of Concrete Structures for the Containment of Refrigerated Liquefied Gases, first published in 2011, will be completed in the spring of 2019, and the final version, published in autumn 2019. This book provides an overview of the state of the art in the design and construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks. Since the topic is very extensive and complex, an introduction to all aspects is provided, e.g. requirements and design for operating conditions, thermal design, hydrostatic and pneumatic tests, soil surveys and permissible settlement, modelling of and calculations for the concrete structure, and the actions due to fire, explosion and impact. Dynamic analysis and the theory of sloshing liquid are also presented.
