Download or read book Checkmate Poetry Made King written by Carlo Jael Jonkers and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-12-15 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever wondered about the state of the world? Feeling helpless or clueless how to make a difference? Read Checkmate: a poetry book written to shed light on the shadow of humankind and bring to the forefront what hides in the dark. Although it is clear as day that our world is being destroyed by the greed of man, a solution to this predicament we have not. This is because the answer to this intricate puzzle lies in a place where most don't look: hidden in plain sight it is being ridiculed and labelled a 'conspiracy theory'. Yes we humans are indeed very much controlled and trained to turn a blind eye to all of the lies of our current Era. We keep voting new puppets onto the world stage while we root for our illusion of choice, as our limited choices are narrowed down to bad or worse. Well this ends here. This unfair live chess game that is being played on our human race will finally be brought to justice.

  • Publisher : SIU Press
  • Release : 2006-01-05

Book excerpt: As president, Abraham Lincoln received between two hundred and five hundred letters a day—correspondence from public officials, political allies, and military leaders, as well as letters from ordinary Americans of all races who wanted to share their views with him. Here, and in his critically acclaimed volume Dear Mr. Lincoln, editor Harold Holzer has rescued these voices—sometimes eloquent, occasionally angry, at times poetic—from the obscurity of the archives of the Civil War. The Lincoln Mailbag includes letters written by African Americans, which Lincoln never saw, revealing to readers a more accurate representation of the nation’s mood than even the president knew. This first paperback edition of The Lincoln Mailbag includes a new index and fourteen illustrations, and Holzer’s introduction and annotations provide historical context for the events described and the people who wrote so passionately to their president in Lincoln's America.

Book King s Vibrato

    Book Details:
  • Author : Maurice O. Wallace
  • Publisher : Duke University Press
  • Release : 2022-07-29
  • ISBN : 147802299X
  • Pages : 232 pages

Download or read book King s Vibrato written by Maurice O. Wallace and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2022-07-29 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In King’s Vibrato Maurice O. Wallace explores the sonic character of Martin Luther King Jr.’s voice and its power to move the world. Providing a cultural history and critical theory of the black modernist soundscapes that helped inform King’s vocal timbre, Wallace shows how the qualities of King’s voice depended on a mix of ecclesial architecture and acoustics, musical instrumentation and sound technology, audience and song. He examines the acoustical architectures of the African American churches where King spoke and the centrality of the pipe organ in these churches, offers a black feminist critique of the influence of gospel on King, and outlines how variations in natural environments and sound amplifications made each of King’s three deliveries of the “I Have a Dream” speech unique. By mapping the vocal timbre of one of the most important figures of black hope and protest in American history, Wallace presents King as the embodiment of the sound of modern black thought.
