Book Transformers

Download or read book Transformers written by Xose M. López-Fernández and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 627 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent catastrophic blackouts have exposed major vulnerabilities in the existing generation, transmission, and distribution systems of transformers widely used for energy transfer, measurement, protection, and signal coupling. As a result, the reliability of the entire power system is now uncertain, and many blame severe underinvestment, aging technology, and a conservative approach to innovation. Composed of contributions from noted industry experts around the world, Transformers: Analysis, Design, and Measurement offers invaluable information to help designers and users overcome these and other challenges associated with the design, construction, application, and analysis of transformers. This book is divided into three sections to address contemporary economic, design, diagnostic, and maintenance aspects associated with power, instrument, and high-frequency transformers. Topics covered include: Design considerations Capability to withstand short circuits Insulation problems Stray losses, screening, and local excessive heating hazard Shell type and superconducting transformers Links between design and maintenance Component-related diagnostics and reliability Economics of life-cycle cost, design review, and risk-management methods Parameter measurement and prediction This book is an essential tool for understanding and implementing solutions that will ensure improvements in the development, maintenance, and life-cycle management of optimized transformers. This will lead to enhanced safety and reliability and lower costs for the electrical supply. Illustrating the need for close cooperation between users and manufacturers of transformers, this book outlines ways to achieve man

Book Transient Phenomena in Electrical Power Systems

Download or read book Transient Phenomena in Electrical Power Systems written by N. D. Anisimova and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-20 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transient Phenomena in Electrical Power Systems: Problems and Illustrations deals with the technique of calculating the different transient phenomena in electrical power systems. Concrete examples are given to show the character of the transient processes, and the order of magnitude is derived in some typical cases. Topics covered include equivalent circuits, steady-state quantities, and the initial conditions of a transient process. The characteristics of generators and synchronous condensers are also considered. Comprised of nine chapters, this book begins with an introduction to the units of measurement as well as the equations of the system and its elements, such as frequency regulators, turbine governors, and transformers. The second chapter presents examples of the construction of equivalent circuits and the determination of the steady-state operation of a system, along with the original condition that precedes the transient process. The third and fourth chapters deal with different characteristics of generators, synchronous condensers, and loads of electrical systems. The fifth chapter examines the general criteria of stability used in calculations of the conditions in electrical systems. Problems of static stability and the effect of large oscillations on stability are discussed in the next three chapters. The final chapter is devoted to special problems on the variation of operating conditions, frequency variation, and the flow of power between systems. This monograph is written for design engineers, operation engineers, apprentices, and students.

Download or read book 30th International Conference on Organization and Technology of Maintenance OTO 2021 written by Hrvoje Glavaš and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-12-07 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book promotes an interdisciplinary approach to maintenance, through the presentation of practical and theoretical research in the field of electrical, civil, and mechanical engineering. The goal is to raise the level of maintenance knowledge, taking into account the continuous advancement of engineering and technology in all spheres of economy, infrastructure, and public services. This book contains papers presented at the 30th International Conference on Organization and Technology of Maintenance (OTO 2021), and the conference was held on Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek on 10-11 December 2021. The book brings 36 original papers written by authors from ten countries that underwent a blind review process by the international review board members. The conference covers the topics as organization and management of maintenance, maintenance technologies, quality management in system maintenance, information systems in maintenance, product lifecycle management, design for maintainability, material and structure properties, reliability of technical systems and environmental safety, diagnosis and prognosis of failures and operational malfunctions, design optimization for maintenance, maintenance in technical systems, analysis of efficiency and cost effectiveness of maintenance, influence of maintenance on the environment and employee safety, maintenance legislation, and education for maintenance.
