Book excerpt: Do you want to know what may happen in our future generations? Travel through the flowing words in time and space to get familiar with the possible trajectory of the human species with inspirational characters and motivated beings. I bring to you an astronomically imaginative story which can be manifested in the mind of a diligent reader. If you are seeking a Science Fiction Thriller entailing realism, this is the novel for you. If you are seeking to imagine something greater than yourself, this is the novel for you. If you are seeking to let your imagination soar while learning from living testimonies to everyday life, this is the novel for you. Here's a quote from Rodman Edward Serling that I would love to leave with you: "It's been said that Science Fiction and Fantasy are two different things. Science Fiction the improbable made possible, Fantasy the impossible made probable. What would you have if you put these two different things together?" Join the world of imagination on a vortex in space travel from one planet to the other. Join the thrilling sequence of a man who has found his celestial house but misses his home after the element of nostalgia. With him, here in this story, we have a community destined to reach and connect with their destiny; their wishes; their reason for living.

Book Minutes in the Dark Eternity in the Light

Download or read book Minutes in the Dark Eternity in the Light written by Kathy Nimmer and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2006-11 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains 140 minute poems: short word pictures of my personal journey through vision loss. While every poem is anchored in the theme of blindness, the poems inexplicably rise above that disability label. Many poems are upbeat while others are quite sad. Some share incidents that are well-known by those in my world while others speak of things I have never communicated to another living soul. The end result is an honest collection of my life experiences tied to the decline of my sight. It is a cathartic volume that I pray has power for you through the universal voice poetry can achieve. I step back from the book now and say, "AH, I've come so far. in the darkness and in the Light." Born in the Midwest in 1969, Kathy Nimmer began her education in public school where problems with her vision were first detected in the second grade. She was diagnosed with a rare retinal degenerative disease which caused her vision to deteriorate in stages over the next sixteen years. Nimmer transferred to the Indiana School for the Blind in sixth grade, graduated as valedictorian in 1987, earned a Bachelors in English Education from Trinity Christian College in 1991, and received a Masters in English from Purdue University in 1992. Her teaching career began soon after at Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she continues to teach today. Nimmer has earned numerous teaching honors including the Golden Apple, National Certification, and the Butler-Cooley Excellence in Teaching Award. Her writing has been published and recognized as well, most recently with first place in the Helen Keller International Memoir Competition. While Nimmer's vision has declined to near total blindness with only light perception remaining, she has sought to build her life around principles of faith, creativity, and adventure. This has taken her many places and allowed her to savor countless experiences that might have been out of reach without her inborn drive for personal growth. She competed as a gymnast in two national championships for the blind, spent five weeks in Russia as part of a disabled exchange group, climbed mountains in the Sierra Nevada range, distance-bicycled through three states in two weeks, ran with the Olympic torch in 1996, and swam with dolphins in a therapy center in the Florida Keys. Along the way, Nimmer joined the world of guide dog users, welcoming her first canine partner in 1996 and her second in 2006. In the writing arena, she has composed a young adult novel (yet unpublished), written prolific essays and poetry related to her blindness, and cherished teaching creative writing at Harrison. She is a motivational speaker, pianist, sports fan, and avid reader of mysteries. Nimmer's life has been one of victory and sorrow, mirroring that of disabled and non-disabled individuals alike. However, she finds courage in firm Christian beliefs, support from her family and friends, and the inspirational leadership of strong women such as Elizabeth Dole, Sarah Hughes, Mary Lee Tracy, and Nimmer's own mother, Mary Ann Hiller. She has mentored sighted and blind individuals entering the education field, organized fund-raisers within her community, and sought ways to honor God in all she does. While this last goal often feels far from reality, Nimmer lives deeply, soaring and plunging through the heights and depths of this life, keeping hope as her eternal guide. That imperfect endeavor is an all-consuming assignment this teacher demands relentlessly of herself.

Book Two Minutes of Light

Download or read book Two Minutes of Light written by Nancy K. Pearson and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While describing a descent into addiction, suicide attempts, and self-mutilation, Nancy K. Pearson is a foil to her own self-harm through the very act of writing. In her debut poetry collection TWO MINUTES OF LIGHT, creativity becomes an antidote to destructiveness. IN TWO MINUTES OF LIGHT, Nancy K. Pearson writes about a descent into the madness of addiction and suicide attempts, and the foil to self-destruction is art itself--finding small beauty in unlikely places and transforming it into poetry. With stunning imagination, acute mindfulness, spunk, and not an ounce of sentimentality or gratuitousness, Pearson mines her despair for "minutes of light" that provide rungs toward a more livable life. While immersed in the bleak world of psychiatric wards and crack motels, the poet, almost unnervingly, writes about sea grass, milkweed, ghost crabs, and wild lilies in a way that lifts the reader back to a place of connection, like holding hands with a stranger. Pearson's genius is her ironic voice, the immediacy of her images, and her fearless attitude. What is creativity if not the antidote to destructiveness? "These poems remind me of collecting stones while walking, each one leading the way to a house in the forest. I want to say they spell redemption, but the forest has its own kind of talking and what's extraordinary about this extraordinary book is how that world -- tree, insect, rain, fish, flower, bird -- has its saying and song too. I've never seen the world of human trauma and recovery set in what we call 'the natural world, ' mediated by the human gaze, yes, and so blessedly indifferent to us. I read this book over and over again."--Marie Howe "Nancy Pearson's poems are rife with the urgencies of constructing a self. It is a harrowing, hard-fought project. As one poem asks, 'By what small margins do we survive?' This is a book fiercely in love with the world, a book that unflinchingly examines what can keep someone from inhabiting that world, whole. Two Minutes of Light is a startling, luminous, and moving first collection."--Kim Addonizio "In Two Minutes of Light, Nancy K. Pearson invents visceral, exciting language to enact redemption with stunning clarity. In Pearson's world, there is no sentimentality to redemption, no fear of the negative. She doesn't let absolutes do the work. As with Dante, the voice changes as it travels from hell to the scary possibility of happiness. But there's no urge to create a model, a template for behavior. Pearson works in the moment, with a keen ear and a live, fluid line. I think of the Arab poet who said he would not trade his moment of mortality for God's omniscience. Two Minutes of Light is a dazzling voyage."--D. Nurske Poetry. LGBTQ+ Studies. Women's Studies.
