She became the wife (1891) of Sir Bernard Mallet (died 1932), a royal official, and left memoirs of her life at court until the queen?s death (1901). This and her personal correspondence was edited and published by her son, Sir Victor Mallet, a godson of Queen Victoria as, Life with Queen Victoria: Marie Mallet?s Letters from Court 1887? 1901 (1968). During the latter part of her life Lady Mallet served as a Poor Law Guardian for Chelsea in London, as well as being active in various philanthropic organizations.
