Book Introduction to Symplectic Geometry

Download or read book Introduction to Symplectic Geometry written by Jean-Louis Koszul and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This introductory book offers a unique and unified overview of symplectic geometry, highlighting the differential properties of symplectic manifolds. It consists of six chapters: Some Algebra Basics, Symplectic Manifolds, Cotangent Bundles, Symplectic G-spaces, Poisson Manifolds, and A Graded Case, concluding with a discussion of the differential properties of graded symplectic manifolds of dimensions (0,n). It is a useful reference resource for students and researchers interested in geometry, group theory, analysis and differential equations. This book is also inspiring in the emerging field of Geometric Science of Information, in particular the chapter on Symplectic G-spaces, where Jean-Louis Koszul develops Jean-Marie Souriau's tools related to the non-equivariant case of co-adjoint action on Souriau’s moment map through Souriau’s Cocycle, opening the door to Lie Group Machine Learning with Souriau-Fisher metric.

Book Lectures on the Geometry of Poisson Manifolds

Download or read book Lectures on the Geometry of Poisson Manifolds written by Izu Vaisman and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is addressed to graduate students and researchers in the fields of mathematics and physics who are interested in mathematical and theoretical physics, differential geometry, mechanics, quantization theories and quantum physics, quantum groups etc., and who are familiar with differentiable and symplectic manifolds. The aim of the book is to provide the reader with a monograph that enables him to study systematically basic and advanced material on the recently developed theory of Poisson manifolds, and that also offers ready access to bibliographical references for the continuation of his study. Until now, most of this material was dispersed in research papers published in many journals and languages. The main subjects treated are the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket; the generalized Frobenius theorem; the basics of Poisson manifolds; Poisson calculus and cohomology; quantization; Poisson morphisms and reduction; realizations of Poisson manifolds by symplectic manifolds and by symplectic groupoids and Poisson-Lie groups. The book unifies terminology and notation. It also reports on some original developments stemming from the author's work, including new results on Poisson cohomology and geometric quantization, cofoliations and biinvariant Poisson structures on Lie groups.

Book Geometric and Algebraic Structures in Differential Equations

Download or read book Geometric and Algebraic Structures in Differential Equations written by P.H. Kersten and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The geometrical theory of nonlinear differential equations originates from classical works by S. Lie and A. Bäcklund. It obtained a new impulse in the sixties when the complete integrability of the Korteweg-de Vries equation was found and it became clear that some basic and quite general geometrical and algebraic structures govern this property of integrability. Nowadays the geometrical and algebraic approach to partial differential equations constitutes a special branch of modern mathematics. In 1993, a workshop on algebra and geometry of differential equations took place at the University of Twente (The Netherlands), where the state-of-the-art of the main problems was fixed. This book contains a collection of invited lectures presented at this workshop. The material presented is of interest to those who work in pure and applied mathematics and especially in mathematical physics.

Book Representations of Lie Groups Kyoto Hiroshima 1986

Download or read book Representations of Lie Groups Kyoto Hiroshima 1986 written by K. Okamoto and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-07-22 with total page 673 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Representations of Lie Groups, Kyoto, Hiroshima, 1986 contains the proceedings of a symposium on "Analysis on Homogeneous Spaces and Representations of Lie Groups" held on September 1-6, 1986 in Japan. The symposium provided a forum for discussing Lie groups and covered topics ranging from geometric constructions of representations to the irreducibility of discrete series representations for semisimple symmetric spaces. A classification theory of prehomogeneous vector spaces is also described. Comprised of 22 chapters, this volume first considers the characteristic varieties of certain modules over the enveloping algebra of a semisimple Lie algebra, such as highest weight modules and primitive quotients. The reader is then introduced to multiplicity one theorems for generalized Gelfand-Graev representations of semisimple Lie groups and Whittaker models for the discrete series. Subsequent chapters focus on Lie algebra cohomology and holomorphic continuation of generalized Jacquet integrals; the generalized Geroch conjecture; algebraic structures on virtual characters of a semisimple Lie group; and fundamental groups of semisimple symmetric spaces. The book concludes with an analysis of the boundedness of certain unitarizable Harish-Chandra modules. This monograph will appeal to students, specialists, and researchers in the field of pure mathematics.

Book Representation Theory and Complex Analysis

This book was released on 2008-02-27 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Six leading experts lecture on a wide spectrum of recent results on the subject of the title. They present a survey of various interactions between representation theory and harmonic analysis on semisimple groups and symmetric spaces, and recall the concept of amenability. They further illustrate how representation theory is related to quantum computing; and much more. Taken together, this volume provides both a solid reference and deep insights on current research activity.
