Book Algebraic Geometry between Tradition and Future

Download or read book Algebraic Geometry between Tradition and Future written by Gilberto Bini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-05 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An incredible season for algebraic geometry flourished in Italy between 1860, when Luigi Cremona was assigned the chair of Geometria Superiore in Bologna, and 1959, when Francesco Severi published the last volume of the treatise on algebraic systems over a surface and an algebraic variety. This century-long season has had a prominent influence on the evolution of complex algebraic geometry - both at the national and international levels - and still inspires modern research in the area. "Algebraic geometry in Italy between tradition and future" is a collection of contributions aiming at presenting some of these powerful ideas and their connection to contemporary and, if possible, future developments, such as Cremonian transformations, birational classification of high-dimensional varieties starting from Gino Fano, the life and works of Guido Castelnuovo, Francesco Severi's mathematical library, etc. The presentation is enriched by the viewpoint of various researchers of the history of mathematics, who describe the cultural milieu and tell about the bios of some of the most famous mathematicians of those times.

Book Calculus Problems

    Book Details:
  • Author : Marco Baronti
  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 2016-11-01
  • ISBN : 3319154281
  • Pages : 368 pages

Download or read book Calculus Problems written by Marco Baronti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-01 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, intended as a practical working guide for calculus students, includes 450 exercises. It is designed for undergraduate students in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or any other field where rigorous calculus is needed, and will greatly benefit anyone seeking a problem-solving approach to calculus. Each chapter starts with a summary of the main definitions and results, which is followed by a selection of solved exercises accompanied by brief, illustrative comments. A selection of problems with indicated solutions rounds out each chapter. A final chapter explores problems that are not designed with a single issue in mind but instead call for the combination of a variety of techniques, rounding out the book’s coverage. Though the book’s primary focus is on functions of one real variable, basic ordinary differential equations (separation of variables, linear first order and constant coefficients ODEs) are also discussed. The material is taken from actual written tests that have been delivered at the Engineering School of the University of Genoa. Literally thousands of students have worked on these problems, ensuring their real-world applicability.

Book Nonlinearity Chaos and Complexity

Download or read book Nonlinearity Chaos and Complexity written by Cristoforo Sergio Bertuglia and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2005-05-12 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covering a broad range of topics, this text provides a comprehensive survey of the modelling of chaotic dynamics and complexity in the natural and social sciences. Its attention to models in both the physical and social sciences and the detailed philosophical approach make this an unique text in the midst of many current books on chaos and complexity. Part 1 deals with the mathematical model as an instrument of investigation. The general meaning of modelling and, more specifically, questions concerning linear modelling are discussed. Part 2 deals with the theme of chaos and the origin of chaotic dynamics. Part 3 deals with the theme of complexity: a property of the systems and of their models which is intermediate between stability and chaos. Including an extensive index and bibliography along with numerous examples and simplified models, this is an ideal course text.

Book Calculus and Linear Algebra

Download or read book Calculus and Linear Algebra written by Aldo G. S. Ventre and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-11 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook offers a comprehensive coverage of the fundamentals of calculus, linear algebra and analytic geometry. Intended for bachelor’s students in science, engineering, architecture, economics, the presentation is self-contained, and supported by numerous graphs, to facilitate visualization and also to stimulate readers’ intuition. The proofs of the theorems are rigorous, yet presented in straightforward and comprehensive way. With a good balance between algebra, geometry and analysis, this book guides readers to apply the theory to solve differential equations. Many problems and solved exercises are included. Students are expected to gain a solid background and a versatile attitude towards calculus, algebra and geometry, which can be later used to acquire new skills in more advanced scientific disciplines, such as bioinformatics, process engineering, and finance. At the same time, instructors are provided with extensive information and inspiration for the preparation of their own courses.

Book Intertemporal Macroeconomic Models Money and Regional Choice

Download or read book Intertemporal Macroeconomic Models Money and Regional Choice written by G. Chirichiello and published by Springer. This book was released on 2000-05-23 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intertemporal macroeconomics links microeconomics and growth theory methods. The effects of policies are examined as the dynamic interaction between decisions of agents and policy interventions. The book explores the two basic approaches of models of infinitely-lived agents (Cass-Ramsey-Koopmans approach) and models of overlapping-generations (Allais-Fisher-Samuelson approach). Controversial questions concerning monetary models and monetary policies are also considered in a systematic way. The book also introduces both real models and monetary models of endogenous growth.
