Book Paul s Letters to the Churches

Download or read book Paul s Letters to the Churches written by Big Dream Ministries and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible is simply a love letter compiled into sixty-six books and written over a period ofsixteen hundred years by more than forty authors living on three continents. Although theauthors came from different backgrounds, there is one message, one theme, one thread that runs throughout the entire Bible from the first book, Genesis, to the last book, Revelation. That message is God's redeeming love for mankind--a message that is as relevant for us today as it was two thousand years ago.Paul's Letters to the Churches (Romans, First Corinthians, Second Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, First Thessalonians, and Second Thessalonians) were written by Paul over a period of fourteen years to seven churches scattered throughout Asia Minor, Greece, and Rome. These churches were in different stages of maturity and all needed instruction from the great apostle. Though Paul did not found all of them, he was looked to for leadership as these churches moved through various seasons of growth and challenge. As we will see, these letters contain both doctrine and practical explanation. The apostle took the great truths of the life, death, resurrection, and return of Jesus Christ and explained and applied them for the members of these newly established centers of Christian worship and witness. Because of the different circumstances into which Paul sent these letters, each has its own flavor and emphasis. However, the Spirit of God and the purpose of the Scriptures make them as applicable today as they were nearly two thousand years ago when the apostle originally penned them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seven churches of the book of Revelation each got mail from Jesus. These letters outlined their weaknesses and their strengths, and also encouraged them in their trials. These churches saw themselves through God's eyes; saw what made Him glad and what made Him angry. And now we've got mail too. Letters to the Churches is based on the 2002 Spring Harvest theme You've Got Mail, and can be used in conjunction with the 2002 Study Guide. It covers material on Revelation chapters 1, 2 and 3 and encourages small groups and individuals to put their faith into action. Containing material and ideas for eight sessions, each study focuses on one subject, which is split into different sections for easy access. From aims to application, the studies make use of relevant and recent media which help to ground the Bible study within contemporary bounds. Letters to the Churches applies the words of Jesus Christ to today's church, and shows how it can shape and challenge us, giving us a new sense of purpose and direction for life.

Book Letters to Next Generation Leaders

Download or read book Letters to Next Generation Leaders written by Phil Pringle and published by PaX Ministries. This book was released on 2013-12-17 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not really 'my' letters to the next generation but rather Paul's, the Apostle, the master architect of the early church, writing to his young mentee, Timothy. I have attempted to simply translate his thoughts, verse by verse, into our world today to help build new young ministers on the Word of God. It is my commentary on 1st & 2nd Timothy. The Word needs to be the foundation of our ministries. Too many have started well, yet not lasted the distance. As we pattern our leadership on the Word and not just management journals and leadership manuals, I'm convinced we are all better equipped to face all the challenges of building the eternal church. Many also are needing to discover the power of the Word to fulfill their destiny deep within. As we live in pathways laid down by the Apostle, the same blessing that rested on him, will be found on ourselves.

Book Letter to the Church at Smyrna

Download or read book Letter to the Church at Smyrna written by Austin John de Bourg and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-23 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many feel certain that they are right with God and on their way to heaven, when in fact, they are not! This was the sobering predicament of 5 of the 7 Churches of Jesus Christ as revealed in His letters to them in the Book of Revelation. "God's perspective is often quite different to man's" explained Dr. de Bourg as he presents, with clarity and simplicity, the depth of wisdom, insight and revelation which is contained in Jesus' seven letters to His Church. These books are a major eye opener, revealing just how relevant Jesus' letters are for us today. They could well be the very thing that is needed to place us in the perfect will of God, as they provide this present-day Church with the spiritual "rudder," to steer it on the right course. If you truly desire to be right with God and to secure your eternity with Him in heaven, this seven-part series is definitely for you!

Book excerpt: "John's vision of the resurrected Jesus Christ in Revelation is both inspiring and challenging. What message does he have for the church? The modern church finds herself in a peculiar time; she struggles to continue her eternal purpose, carry on her calling, and maintain relevance in a world that is changing rapidly. The church's struggle today is not all that different from the difficulties the church faced in the first century. That is why Bill Thomas wrote Dear Church; to analyze Jesus' message to the seven first-century churches of Asia on how to overcome their challenges. The eight lessons included within this book act as a roadmap, helping readers to question whether their church is portraying the teachings of the risen Christ. This book can be used by anyone who wishes to grow in both spirit and knowledge, as well as those seeking spiritual clarity. Lessons include: Letter to the church at Smyrna: The Persecuted Church (Revelation 2:8-11) Letter to the church at Sardis: The Dead Church (Revelation 3:1-6) Letter to the church at Laodicea: The Lukewarm Church (Revelation 3:14-22)"--

Book Growing the Post pandemic Church

Download or read book Growing the Post pandemic Church written by Bob Whitesel Dmin, PhD and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-07 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical strategies for churches in the new-normal. The author, an award-winning writer/scholar on church leadership, looks at 12 radical changes coming to the American church and suggests now is the time to rethink how we do church. The reader will learn how worship is moving from entertainment to experience, largeness is being replaced by relevance, and how leaders can make the most of online attendance. Bob Whitesel, D.Min., Ph.D. draws from his extensive consulting/coaching practice to suggest growth strategies for churches with aging buildings, overbuilt sanctuaries or underfunded staffs. And he describes emerging church alternatives such as pub churches, café churches, online churches and churches led by bi- or co- vocational pastors. He then introduces biblical foundations that every church can embrace to increase survivability: putting the needs of non-churchgoers first, making small groups your hallmark, practicing passionate prayer and growing learners, rather than growing an audience (Matt. 28:18-20). In the chapter, "St. Paul's Guide to Leading Remotely," Dr. Whitesel explores how to lead God's people in difficult, even remote, times based on Paul's theology and practice in his letters. And, in the chapter on the "eReformation," he describes 10 leadership skills needed to remain relevant in a world where communication is increasingly electronic. And because racial tensions continue to rise, Whitesel, a respected author on multiethnic church growth, offers "7 organic steps to building bridges across racial divides," including: learning about the other's culture, how not to judge by appearance, starting with a biblical model of reconciliation, practicing unity, reevaluating where you spend your money, awakening to your own personal preferences and expecting change in people. The book concludes with a look at the "church of the future." Here Whitesel looks at recurring problems that emerge after catastrophes. He looks at each problem from a biblical perspective and describes what churches can do to increase their future impact.
