Book Letters on Occult Meditation

Download or read book Letters on Occult Meditation written by Bailey, Alice A. and published by Lucis Publishing Companies. This book was released on 2011-12-13 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The word occultism is used in the Alice Bailey books with one specific meaning: The study of that which is hidden. In occult meditation we learn to penetrate into hitherto veiled dimensions of consciousness, discovering the threefold function of the mind and the qualities of the true inner self, the soul. This type of meditation is particularly concerned with energy flow - energy which is impersonal and fiery in nature. Its potential dangers should therefore be understood and avoided, and practices adopted which are safe and trustworthy. This book sets out the basic principles of occult meditation, showing its overall objective to be planetary service.

Book excerpt: The following letters were received during the period included within the dates, May 16th, 1920, and October 20th, 1920, with the exception of the three letters which were received in 1919. With the consent of their author they have been gathered together for publication. They are published in full as received, with the exception of certain parts which have a purely personal application, those having reference to a certain occult school, and those of a prophetic or esoteric nature, which may not now be communicated. It is hoped that those who read these letters will endeavor to do two things: -1. Read always with an open mind, remembering that the Truth is a many sided diamond, and that its different aspects will appear at different times, as Those Who guide the race see a need which must be met. Many books on Meditation have been written, some too abstruse and some too superficial to satisfy the average educated man. The writer of these letters has apparently attempted to supply the need of a brief yet scientific exposition of a rationale of Meditation, emphasizing the goal immediately ahead and the intermediate stages.2. Judge of the letters on their merits and not upon claims put forth on behalf of the writer. For this reason he has chosen to preserve his anonymity and has requested the recipient of the letters to publish them under his pseudonym. If the subject matter of the letters is of value it will call forth a response from the readers and serve to help some onward towards the goal, and prove to many the inspiration and aid it already has to a few.

Bailey COLLECTION VOL. 1 (THREE BOOKS) INITIATION, HUMAN AND SOLAR, THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE ATOM, LETTERS ON OCCULT MEDITATION. Alice Ann Bailey (June 16, 1880 - December 15, 1949) was a writer of more than twenty-four books on theosophical subjects, and was one of the first writers to use the term New Age. Bailey was born as Alice La Trobe-Bateman, in Manchester, England. She moved to the United States in 1907, where she spent most of her life as a writer and teacher. Bailey's works, written between 1919 and 1949, describe a wide-ranging system of esoteric thought covering such topics as how spirituality relates to the Solar System, meditation, healing, spiritual psychology, the destiny of nations, and prescriptions for society in general. She described the majority of her work as having been telepathically dictated to her by a Master of Wisdom, initially referred to only as "the Tibetan" or by the initials "D.K.", later identified as Djwal Khul. Her writings bore some similarity to those of Madame Blavatsky and are among the teachings often referred to as the "Ageless Wisdom". Though Bailey's writings differ in some respects to the Theosophy of Madame Blavatsky, they have much in common with it. She wrote on religious themes, including Christianity, though her writings are fundamentally different from many aspects of Christianity or other orthodox religions. Her vision of a unified society included a global "spirit of religion" different from traditional religious forms and including the concept of the Age of Aquarius.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Letters From the Spirit World We call our world here the celestial world because, be ing freed from the earthly form, we are at liberty to move among celestial bodies if we choose; and I have chosen so to do. Still, this world may also be properly called the ethereal or spiritual world - celestial, ethereal, spiritual. You are well aware that all space is ether or ethereal; that this ether is filled by spiritual, celestial and material bodies or forms; that these forms differ both in shape and density. Book Theology and the Religions

Download or read book Theology and the Religions written by Viggo Mortensen and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The academic study of religion is undergoing great changes in response to globalization. Just as sociologists now find it necessary to think in terms of "multiculturalism," so religion scholars and theologians today must work in the context of "multireligiosity." Globalization is leading not only to multiethnic societies but also to plurality in religions and worldviews. Theology and the Religions: A Dialogue offers the first sustained analysis of the trend toward multireligiosity and its implications for the study of religion. Drawing on the resources of cultural analysis, religious studies, and theology, an international slate of scholars explores the relation of multiculturality and multireligiosity, the need for interreligious dialogue, and the possibilities for a "theology of religions." This groundbreaking work is supported by case studies of various religious traditions in diverse cultures from around the world. Special attention is paid to Christian theological reflection, however, since, as a global religion, Christianity is particularly challenged by multireligiosity. Offering an engaging, wide-angle view of religion worldwide, Theology and the Religions makes a vital contribution to our understanding of the forces shaping the future of religious and social life.
