Call to Governor William Schley (Governor of Georgia, 1835-1837) suggesting that Schley send troops to guard the southeastern boundary of Georgia. Call fears that Creek Indians in Alabama have been communicating with Seminole Indians in Florida and are likely to invade Florida through the southeastern section of Georgia. Call also mentions General Searcy as the bearer of this letter and suggests that Governor Schley confer with Searcy on what is to be done about these problems.

Eaton, former U.S. Secretary of War (1829-1831) and Governor of the Florida territory (1834-1836), to an unknown recipient (very likely William Schley, Governor of Georgia 1835-1837), regarding the Second Seminole War (1835-1842). Eaton describes the forces currently stationed in the Florida territory and beseeches his reader to send more troops from Georgia. He argues that a large proportion of Florida's men are already enrolled as volunteers and that the larger population of Georgia can afford many more forces. Eaton mentions the number of "friendly" Indians already participating, as well as listing naval vessels available in Tampa Bay. He asserts that the only way to subdue the Seminoles is to march directly into their country in a direct attack, but stresses that Florida forces alone cannot accomplish this offensive maneuver.

Eaton asks Schley to send troops to aid Florida forces in battling the Seminoles, and he also warns that any more victories for the Seminoles and their black allies might induce slaves to run away and join forces with the Indians.

Zespedes acknowledges the war between Georgia and the Creek Nation, recently begun, and assures Mathews that the Spanish governorship desires friendship with the United States. He explains that his people once lived in fear of "the savages", but now enjoy peaceful relations with neighboring Indians, having actively pursued such amity. Zespedes admits that the Spanish have supplied Indians (ostensibly Creeks) with arms and ammunition, but contends that these gifts were intended for hunting and in quantities too small for waging war. He states further that he will continue such gift-giving because it is integral to the amicable relationship existing between the Spanish and Indians. Zespedes mentions that James Seagrove has recently visit.
