Reed ("Secretary, The Art Lovers League, 80 Exchange St., Buffalo, N.Y.) written asking for his opinion on a copy of a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. He states that it is not "a pleasing likeness of my father." Typed letter signed (TLS). Second letter is a copy of a typewritten letter dated May 22, 1903 to the same recipient and notes that commendations of the portrait are "a matter of personal feeling." He enclosed a photograph of his father that he thinks "is unequaled as a likeness and as a pleasing picture" (probably Alexander Garner's February 1865 portrait of Abraham Lincoln.)
