Book excerpt: This iz the third book of the condensed Katha Emmanuel. In the coming Kingdom of God / Heaven on Earth we will restore the ¿stone the Builders rejected¿ that iz to say Christ Consciousness or Self Realization. We will rebuild the Temple, but this time we will rebuild it by restoring the Capstone. I use K because I think that Aleister Crowley wuz right¿1st Age wuz Matriarchal, 2nd Patriarchical & this current time iz the age of the Magikal Child. In this volume iz both Death of a Hero (3rd Vol. Of the condensed Katha Emmanuel) & Kapstone itself which iz a ¿floating¿ volume which could be read as the last book of the series & in the Compleat Katha Emmanuel it could be read before all the rest of the Volume or after the 2nd or the 3rd. If you wish to see what I am talking about just look at the reverse side of the American Dollar bill¿my theory iz that the [ALL Seeing Ayin¿in Magikal terms] eye that floats above the pyramid iz Benjamin Franklin¿s. We owe a lot to Benjamin Franklin: before the ratification of the Constitution a poll wuz taken¿all the fellas were one or another form of Christian; but Benjamin answered that he wuz an Atheist¿thus every Religion from Christian to Atheist (& all other religions) were included.

Download or read book Dooble Tongue written by Jeffrey Skoblow and published by University of Delaware Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Dooble Tongue' is an imaginative meditation on Robert Burns and Scottish poetry, as well as a book that engages and contests the customary assumptions and practices of literary criticism. Beginning with an examination of two contemporary Scottish poets, W.N. Herbert and Robert Crawford, and moving back in time to the Scottish Modernist master Hugh MacDiarmid, then further back to Burns himself, the study of the Scottish tradition is situated in a broad historical context. The focus throughout is on language (particularly Scots), more broadly vernacular literature in relation to culturally elite literary and critical modes- as well as on questions of literary nationalism and the cultural politics of poetic discourse.

Impossible to put down." —Stephen King The smash New York Times bestseller from Leigh Bardugo, a mesmerizing tale of power, privilege, and dark magic set among the Ivy League elite. Goodreads Choice Award Winner Locus Finalist Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her? Still searching for answers, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. Their eight windowless “tombs” are the well-known haunts of the rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street’s biggest players. But their occult activities are more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive. They tamper with forbidden magic. They raise the dead. And, sometimes, they prey on the living. Don't miss the highly-anticipated sequel, Hell Bent.

Book Coherence in New Music Experience Aesthetics Analysis

Download or read book Coherence in New Music Experience Aesthetics Analysis written by Mark Hutchinson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-10 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to talk about musical coherence at the end of a century characterised by fragmentation and discontinuity? How can the diverse influences which stand behind the works of many late twentieth-century composers be reconciled with the singular immediacy of the experiences that they can create? How might an awareness of the distinctive ways in which these experiences are generated and controlled affect the way we listen to, reflect upon and write about this music? Mark Hutchinson outlines a novel concept of coherence within Western art music from the 1980s to the turn of the millennium as a means of understanding the work of a number of contemporary composers, including Thomas Adès, Kaija Saariaho, Tō ru Takemitsu and György Kurtág, whose music cannot be fitted easily into a particular compositional school or analytical framework. Coherence is understood as a multi-layered phenomenon experienced, above all, in the act of listening, but reliant upon a variety of other aspects of musical experience, including compositional statements, analysis, and connections of aesthetic, as well as listeners' own, imaginative conceptualisations. Accordingly, the approach taken here is similarly multi-faceted: close analytical readings of a number of specific works are combined with insights drawn from philosophy and aesthetics, music perception, and critical theory, with a particular openness to novel metaphorical presentations of basic musical ideas about form, language and time.

Download or read book The Sin Warriors written by Julian E. Farris and published by Lethe Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fifty years ago, three hundred teachers and students in Florida vanished. No storm troopers. No mass graves. Who were they? Just wasted lives from blackmail, coercion, entrapment-tactics of state senator Charlie Johns and his covert investigations of homosexuals in Florida's universities. The Sin Warriors is a novel inspired by those actual events. David Ashton has struggled for self-acceptance and identity his entire life. David's estrangement from a dysfunctional family childhood, his sexual awakening and bonding with his gay professor places them in the crosshairs of state senator Billy Sloat, an ambitious, country politician obsessed with ridding the university of subversives-homosexuals, blacks, alleged communists-on the heels of the McCarthy hearings during the mid-fifties. But who is Sloat actually, and where does his hatred and contempt come from? From a backwoods childhood in North Florida to his reign as a powerful senator, Sloat intends to destroy the new life David has built for himself in college, and questions are raised: What is family? Whom should we love? What price do we pay to defend our country and our integrity? Which is more enduring-fear or love? These themes provide counterpoint to corrupt politicians and their abuse of power to further their own prejudices and limited understanding of what it is to be human.
