Book excerpt: A captivating journey through the hidden libraries of Jerusalem, where some of the world’s most enduring ideas were put into words In this enthralling book, Merav Mack and Benjamin Balint explore Jerusalem’s libraries to tell the story of this city as a place where some of the world’s most enduring ideas were put into words. The writers of Jerusalem, although renowned the world over, are not usually thought of as a distinct school; their stories as Jerusalemites have never before been woven into a single narrative. Nor have the stories of the custodians, past and present, who safeguard Jerusalem’s literary legacies. By showing how Jerusalem has been imagined by its writers and shelved by its librarians, Mack and Balint tell the untold history of how the peoples of the book have populated the city with texts. In their hands, Jerusalem itself—perched between East and West, antiquity and modernity, violence and piety—comes alive as a kind of labyrinthine library.

Download or read book Let s Go to Israel written by Rick Hill and published by First Edition Design Pub.. This book was released on 2012-11-08 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide is useful whether you are traveling to Israel with a group or studying about Israel in your home. It is filled with practical information that will enhance your tour experience and deepen your personal knowledge of the Land of the Bible and Bible times. It is designed to help both young and mature Christ-followers to grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures. But it can be used by anyone interested in knowing more about Israel, Christ-follower or not. There are a variety of maps and personal photos in this guide. Many of the maps I created with Accordance Software, which will be consistent throughout the guide. The maps and photos will help you to visualize the topic or land area you are reading about. There is a list of the major sites in Israel, Jordan, and Egypt in alphabetical order. There is also a Quick Bible Reference Guide to assist you in finding more Scriptures about various sites in the Holy Land. Many people who travel to Israel wonder about communicating with the locals on their trip. This is a problem that you will hardly ever experience on a tour. However, to get a feel for the language, there is a section of important words, phrases, and prayers that will be helpful on your trip. I have included a section on terminology--a glossary of common words, names, and events found in the Bible and in history. There are biographies of many important historical and biblical characters. Learning about them in advance will enhance your time in Israel. They will 'come alive' as you see them in the context of their time. Finally, to organize the material, I have divided this guide into three sections: Section I: Getting Ready for the Trip Section II: Getting Acquainted with the Holy Land Section III: Additional Reference Material. I have told the many guests on my tours that with just a ten-day trip to the Holy Land, they will know as much or more Bible History and Geography than most first year Bible College students. I believe this to be true. When you can put the events, places, and characters of the Bible in their context, it really comes alive. You will never read your Bible the same again! Happy traveling, everyone! Author Bio: Pastor Rick was born in Arizona and raised in Southern California. He is an alumnus of San Diego State University, West Coast Christian College, Melodyland School of Theology, and California Graduate School of Theology. Book The Persecuted Human Brains in the Way to the Cross

Download or read book The Persecuted Human Brains in the Way to the Cross written by Ramsis F. Ghaly MD FACS and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-12-09 with total page 992 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As wars continue, persecution against Christianity is considered the highest among all religions. The author explores deep within the oppressed brains. Many people wonder what goes on inside the human brain during times of discrimination and injustice. In silence, the human brain carries the burden of misery. Our earthly journey is endowed with obstacles and suffering that ultimately leads down the way to the cross. The daily news of bloodshed is overwhelming, and human trafficking is on the rise. It is the time to reconcile to prepare for the ascent of the human soul to its Creator at the moment of departure. The book takes the reader from the time of Adam and Eve and Jesus Christ on the cross to our current time of persecution, going through the pilgrimage to the cross. The book acknowledges the present challenges facing Christians and explores the battles of good versus evil in the times of antichrist. It connects the human brain to its soul as it relates to the eternal spirit in eight sections and thirty-five chapters. The reader will experience the path to the cross through the depiction of sorrows, sadness, losses, and turmoil but also of strength, courage, and hope. The audience will relay the invisible spiritual facts beyond the obvious on the way to the cross in times of weeping, praying, singing, and times of thanksgiving.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This masterpiece is perhaps the most controversial treatise ever written by an African author or published. I have been reading various books but this is the first time I read one, which analytically used religious books, sciences, historic facts, various mysteries and nature to present, in simple manner most of the wonders of this weird world we live in Blasphemous heresies cum different human efforts cryptically inculcated into religious beliefs, which are unknowingly propagated and practised in almost every part of the world, were skilfully unmasked. Fraudulent honest beliefs cannily brewed at various philosophic caves of the developed world, geared towards minds slavery, then spewed into ethno-politics of the day and religious bodies, which enabled them hold the world at their mercies, were plainly unveiled. Colonial Conspiracies in Africa, like merciless and unapologetic hot knife while slicing through every butter or cheese created or produced by the world ruling class fibs potions, never respected or feared; just the way, she acting as the only Divine detergent, bleached every dye stain or taint on religious cum political maladies of our day! I am afraid, all the deep secrets in human hearts, which this book opened up and made very easy as well as palatable to swallow, no one truly sincere enough, can contest! This is that philological Murdered Truth about Gihons (Africans) in particular and other oppressed nations, which you must know. This shall set our one-sided historic records straight and stop further deceptive or exploitative symbiotic co-existance amongst human race! Africa is not the dreg of Human wastes, rather the only true Father of entire Human Race! This is Divinely inspired Power packed Epistle to the world at large. Study with reverence! This treatise shall be read and remembered forever! She is a revolutionary masterpiece!
