Book LET S REVITALIZE CHRISTIANITY

Download or read book LET S REVITALIZE CHRISTIANITY written by Warren F. Hannas and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-01-27 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LET’S REVITALIZE CHRISTIANITY is a book designed to give people what I have heard many folks ask for: How can Christianity give me a better way of life? It is designed to give a different slant to Christianity than one would get in a sectarian church, and it is based entirely on the New Testament of the New International Version of the Holy Bible. After a brief introduction many problems in our society are mentioned to which the existing churches do not seem to give solution or closure. Since many folks have given up attending church, we give good reasons why attending church is a good thing for us. What is fellowship, and how can we painlessly learn to love someone we don’t really care very much about? Why is Jesus is known as the Prince of Peace? And can all of us be Princes and Princesses of Peace? We share a small study of prayer, and how we can help prayer work. There are two extremely important New Testament prayers. We show how the Lord’s Prayer can be a guide to effective living, and we show how the Gethsemane Prayer is the birth of Christianity, and how it instills in all of us what Jesus wants for our interactive relationship with Him and with God. What is freedom? And what’s the formula for achieving freedom? A short epilogue sums up the entire revitalization concept. And finally, we give a scriptural account of the life of Christ simply as an item of interest. For example, we cite Christ’s lineage as reported in Luke 3:23-38. All Christians should cherish this book.

Book God s Pattern for Revitalization

Download or read book God s Pattern for Revitalization written by Robert Beckett and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-03-30 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most common question that most pastors and church leaders ask themselves is "Where do I start in revitalizing my church?" Revitalizing a church can seem like a daunting task, but there are some key steps that pastors and church leaders can take to begin the process of transforming their church into an active and vibrant center of the Christian community. The first step that pastors should take is to prayerfully assess the current state of the church. This will involve reflecting on the church's current successes and challenges to better understand where changes need to be made. That understanding can come only from God himself. God has provided us with an example of how revitalization and revival can take place in a church. This book will enlighten and inform on the way that God intends for his church to be vibrant and alive again in the community of believers and surrounding neighbors. Using Scripture as the pattern and guide, readers will gain confidence and courage to move their church forward in revitalization.

Download or read book Fan the Flame written by Jim Cymbala and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2022-09-20 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if we modeled our churches after what Jesus intended His church to look like? What if our hope for our ministries rested not on human wisdom but on God's power? Over the past few years, we've all seen how quickly circumstances can change, and many of us have experienced firsthand how church growth trends and popular models fail us. Churches across the country are struggling, and many pastors are deeply discouraged. We work hard and with great sincerity, but our efforts don't seem to be helping our churches flourish. Jim Cymbala—New York Times best-selling author and long-time pastor of The Brooklyn Tabernacle—has been watching the pressing need for back-to-the-basics spiritual leadership among Christians, and he's seen so many churches come to defeat because so many leaders forget this one truth: Your church is not your church. It's Christ's church. In order for his church to flourish, we have to minister his way. With this posture of humility and a refreshing return to the model of Paul's church leadership and philosophy of preaching shown in the book of Acts, Cymbala has written an urgent message for all those in ministry that: Identifies the many pitfalls that church leaders can fall into. Reasserts the need for total confidence in the Gospel. Preaches complete dependence on the Holy Spirit, while showing you how to see the new things that the Spirit can do through your work. Offers practical guidance on inevitable leadership challenges, such as money, division, and priorities. With honesty and clarity, Jim Cymbala has written Fan the Flame to ministers, church leaders, staff members, and any Christians serious about God's church. He's written this book in order to help you face these difficult times in the name of the Lord... He's written so that our prayer, as God's people with God's mission, might be: Lord, show us how to do your work so that in the midst of dark times we can still see you fan the flames of your power and Spirit. Lord, use us to that end. Amen.

Book A Revitalization of Images

    Book Details:
  • Author : Gregory C. Higgins

  • ISBN : 1498224512

Download or read book A Revitalization of Images written by Gregory C. Higgins and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-03-05 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The philosopher, theologian, and biblical scholar Austin Farrer (1904-1968) highlighted in his various writings the central role that images play in the interpretation of biblical writings, the construction of theological arguments, and the descriptions of the Christian spiritual life. Theologians down through the centuries have sought to revitalize the central biblical images as they addressed the pressing theological, moral, and spiritual questions of their day. A Revitalization of Images offers students the opportunity to participate in this ongoing creative engagement with ten dominant biblical images that continue to shape the church's beliefs and practices, as well as each Christian's own spiritual journey. Sound theology is rooted in Scripture, conversant with past thinkers, and engaged in the present life of the church. This dynamic directly informs Revitalization. In each chapter we begin with a biblical image that has figured prominently in the Christian theological tradition. Next we examine two prominent voices from the Christian tradition who have drawn upon the image when crafting a compelling vision of the Christian life. We then turn our attention to a contemporary thinker who has incorporated or critiqued the image in his or her own theological work. This discussion is set within the current spectrum of theological positions including orthodox, liberal, postliberal, and postmodern perspectives.

Book Revive the Oracles of God

Download or read book Revive the Oracles of God written by Ozakieoniso Charlie and published by WestBowPress. This book was released on 2013-05-08 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I believe that the next revival will come on a personal level for everyone who will pick up his or her bible daily to read, study, and meditate. Engage in personal times of prayer day and night; move from selfish Christianity to the place of personal service of others and the will and purpose of the Lord. Throughout the Bible, we see the Lord moved in the situation of his people, when they return to the ordinances of His word for guidance, in correction of their ways, or even for a new beginning, when they have engaged God in prayer and when they have stepped out to do his will. I believe that these three constants of our Christian faith also double as oracles of God, because in them the power of God is made alive; divine answers, messages, and burdens are granted to those who will diligently ask, seek, and knock. I believe that these three are oracles in their individual standings, but never to be practiced individually. Rather, when all three are embraced as a lifestyle, there will be a threefold release of the power of God. Revival will break forth within individuals and hence the entire body of Christ. This book is a holy cry for the people of God to avail themselves of these one-on-one connections with the almighty: Through his oracles.

Download or read book Let s Be Blunt written by Evan Oxner and published by Word Alive Press. This book was released on 2020-05-31 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is the point of following Jesus simply getting to heaven? Do we put our faith in God and just wait for the day when we get to leave this world behind and find peace? Is Christianity nothing more than the practice of staying faithful long enough that we are on the right side of the fence when we die? Something just doesn’t seem right about that. The God that we see in the Exodus is bigger than the gods of the world. The work of Jesus changes more than just one’s eternal final destination. The practice of discipleship and following Jesus is more meaningful than simply keeping us safe. Maybe the questions you’ve asked or the problems you’ve observed with the Church don’t reveal doubts or unfaithfulness. Maybe they express a craving for what God really wants to do that goes beyond the common culture and teachings of the Church. It’s not that the Church is wrong in everything it says or teaches, but there is something more important we need to embrace for the rest of it to actually makes sense. Christianity isn’t about checking boxes and going to heaven—it’s about being restored to the image of God.

Book excerpt: 9Marks Journal: RevitalizeChurch planting is a great thing, and there's no need to take anything away from it. But there should also be a default setting in a Christian's heart that always longs to see dying churches revitalized. It's not like the debate in your head about whether to fork over $2000 to the mechanic to fix your clunker of a car or to just buy a new one. It's more like a decision about whether to walk away from a dear but difficult relationship. Our hearts should never want to do that, even if once in a great while we must.Start with Andy Davis' remarkable story of reforming one church, and you'll find something that feels strangely like it's from the Bible, as if Andy were only doing what the apostles did. Then let the biblical burden of Bobby Jamieson's article sit on you. I'm serious. You just might find some new light bulbs turning on. Matt Schmucker's and Mike McKinley's articles then round out the apologetic by offering crisp statements for why churches and pastors should pursue the work of revitalizing. If you are a pastor, keep reading into the next section, where Jeramie Rinne, Greg Gilbert, John Folmar, J. D. Greear, and Brian Croft offer valuable and practical wisdom on how to proceed with the work of reform.Could it be that church revitalization does not loom as large in the modern evangelical mindset as it did in Jesus' and the apostles'? Before you answer that question, if nothing else, read Bobby's article. You just might wonder if we've missed something basic.
