Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1961, Let's Read is a simple and systematic way to teach basic reading. Developed by noted linguist Leonard Bloomfield, the book is based on the alphabetic spelling patterns of English. Bloomfield offered an antidote to the idea that English is a difficult language to learn to read by teaching the learner to decode the phonemic sound-letter correlations of the language in a sequential, logical progression of lessons based on its spelling patterns. The learner is first introduced to the most consistent (alphabetic) vocabulary and then to increasingly less alphabetic and less frequent spelling patterns within a vocabulary of about 5,000 words. The second edition of Let's Read brings Bloomfield's innovative program into the twenty-first century without changing the sequence of exercises but with revised text and an attractive new design and layout.

Book Let s Trace Preschool Sight Words

Download or read book Let s Trace Preschool Sight Words written by Creative Minds Books and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-06-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The key to helping your child become a great reader begins with a series of workbooks. We at Creative Minds Books want to see your kids master reading. Let's Trace Sight Words! We've put together over eighty pages of tracing exercises for the common words pre-school-aged children will encounter in most reading materials. Whether the child in your life is just starting their reading journey or could use a little more practice at home, we've got you covered. That's why we've developed our books around sight words. What are sight words, you ask? These are the most common, frequently-occurring words in the English language that any reader will encounter-words that are recognized by sight rather than sound. Edward William Dolch, Ph.D., published a book in 1948, Problems in Reading, with a goal of wanting to fix some of the ways reading was taught at the time. Seeing that children-anyone, really-would have problems trying to memorize massive word lists, he realized some sight words were more important than others for children to learn. Dolch came up with 220 frequently used words in the English language. It's commonly believed that 50-70% of the words you read in any general text will consist of these words. That makes these words incredibly important for kids to master-they can help make any child into a stronger reader, giving them the ability to recognize the words they see on the page, or comprehend what a sentence might be saying if they understand each of the words. We help your kids practice to make them better readers. Features: Sentence practice for preschoolers - We recognize that while kids may be at different levels with their reading and writing abilities, all kids will benefit from practice writing sentence. Each sentence included in this book is built with Dolch Sight Words for preschoolers in mind to give them examples of how the words might be used in conversation. Uppercase and lowercase words included - We included both uppercase and lowercase forms for every single sight word in this book to help your child distinguish both forms of a word. That means they'll do practice drills tracing both "From" and "from," "Big" and "big," and more. Developed using Dolch Sight Words: We centered this book on specific sight words commonly used in preschools and schools to help your kids build vocabulary and recognize common, frequently-used words in written form. These sight words are good for both pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten prep! Increase vocabulary: We want kids to not only become strong readers, but to speak with confidence and become familiar with words commonly found in reading materials of all kinds. Can be used for daily practice: Weekdays, weekends, holidays, vacation-it won't matter, because with Let's Trace Sight Words, the child in your life can practice learning sight words any day of the week. Helpful exercise repetition can get your child comfortable with words they'll encounter in most anything they'll have to read. Great handwriting practice - We know how important it is for kids to learn handwriting-our books are designed with just that kind of practice in mind. Tracing exercises let your child practice writing and develop important fine motor skills that will not only make them a stronger student overall, but help with key writing tasks in everyday life. Very helpful for homeschooling - For parents and educators who are home-schooling, we care about you, too. We want to give you reliable materials that can help support your teaching efforts. Perfect for beginning readers - help your child learn the building blocks of reading and writing. This book is also helpful for Kindergarteners as well! Purchase the book today!
