Book Let s Go Sit Under the Mango Tree

Download or read book Let s Go Sit Under the Mango Tree written by Grahame Kerr and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2022-07-29 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Singapore in 1942 saw the greatest defeat of the British and Allied forces of WW2. Much has been written about the terrible time endured by the 85,000 troops who surrendered to the Japanese forces on 15 February 1942. Much less has been written about the circumstances surrounding the many civilians caught up in the fighting and subsequently interned or forced to endure occupation. Such was the speed with which the Japanese captured the Island that little time was given to removing resources that may assist them in furthering their aim of creating an Asian empire. One example is the fact that the island had become the centre for all the gold reserves of the Malay States and Singapore. The Japanese knew this and for nearly four years searched the island for the gold. To this day some of this gold may still be at large as no one ever kept a record of what gold was on the island and how much was consumed in paying the cost of the subsequent guerrilla warfare.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens when soul and spirit go dancing together? They get revealed for who they are. After a dance filled with sentiments of reflection, regret, pleasure, forgiveness, letting go, and acceptance, they get resurrected as a divine pair. Only then will a human possessing them be freed of earthly troubles. Life offers a classroom of lessons so that you become aware of your higher self. In order to awaken or transform spiritually, you need an inward visit to your human experiences. Lets go Dancing in the Light is a soulful anthology of poetry and prose. It is the sacred dancing venue of soul and spirit. Through narrations and poems, the book delves into human struggles and transformations as a spiritual quest to seek inner peace and the light of divinity. The stories and poems are humanly raw, for it is in the stripping bare of a soul that one can receive and give the blessing of light through spirit. May you too find light when its time to bring your pair to the dancing venue.

  • Pages : 190 pages

Download or read book Jungle Blue written by Otchere Darko and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-07-28 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jungle Blue tells a sad story about a man whose dreams and his destiny move in opposite directions. Born with unique physical challenges, he endeavours to overcome all the odds against him. He succeeds and becomes one of the greatest in his community. After that he sets himself a new and higher goal. Then something happens that casts a dense cloud over his future. A strange circumstance takes away his hope; or put in a less painful language, his hope and his future are put on hold for at least two years. This narration is a proxy account of Jungle Blue’s life given by his servant who has been deported to London for two years. During the two-year period, his servant will study for a qualification that will enable him to return to, and transform his community of origin. Even though, his servant will return after two years, his absence during that time is going to be difficult for him. While in London, his servant becomes the symbol of his master who epitomises the inhabitants of the community he hails from. Through this deported servant of Jungle Blue, the reader is presented with a description of two sets of people: the servant, his master and the community of origin of the two, as one set; and Londoners and the London community within which the servant proxy now lives, as the second set. This gives the novel a dual setting..... ‘the indigenous community of origin of Hope and his master’ and ‘the new community of London’ which is going to be the deportee’s new place of abode. This dual setting is intended to create the premises for effective comparison between two sets of people from two sets of communities with two systems of civilisation that are here and there interposed, juxtaposed and transposed throughout the various phases of the narration. Names of people and places used in the novel, including those of the indigenous communities and; and, also, including the new London community to which Hope is deported are all fictional. No names and no events in the novel relate to any real people and real situations. Any semblances to any real life situations should therefore be seen as merely coincidental and unintended.

Book Under the Mango Tree

  • Author : Tracy Hunter
  • Publisher : Fulton Books, Inc.

  • ISBN : 1633383857

Download or read book Under the Mango Tree written by Tracy Hunter and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This particular book was inspired by my father. He was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii. As a child, I really did spend many summers going to Hawaii with my grandmother to visit family there. My uncle had a huge mango tree in his backyard, and he would let me pick them just as the girl in the story does. I wanted a children's book that brought out fantasy and imagination for children, as well as taught them something. I have a love for animals and nature, and so I decided to combine trees and animals. My intention is to create a series that will always relate to personal experiences with a different kind of tree and the animals that inhabit them. I was raised in the central coast of California, and so my next book will be about oak trees as our property had many of them as did the surrounding area. I am still contemplating which animal I will choose. Lani's character is inspired by me as a child hanging out in Hawaii. She is a dreamer with a great imagination as I hope all children have. She is also very curious and has a thirst for knowledge, again a hope I want to inspire in children. The bat family characters all have very different character traits, but as a family unit, I think children will find them fun and easy to relate to. The message is simple. Use your imagination, dreaming is a good thing, be curious, and go learn from it, and it is OK that things in life are not always permanent. It just might mean there is something better around the corner, so don't stop looking. Mahalo.

Book Reflections on Our Independence

Download or read book Reflections on Our Independence written by Winston Forde and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-11-29 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sierra Leone was granted full status as an Independent member country of the British Commonwealth on 26th April 1961. In April 1971 it became a Republican State. As it celebrates 50 years of life as an independent nation feelings are mixed as to how successful, or progressive things have turned out to be; but celebrate we must. The author has, therefore taken the opportunity to encapsulate in a semi-fictional Trilogy some random thoughts of ordinary people who still think of the good old days, as they wrestle with the continuing difficulties being experienced in the ordinary aspects of daily life, as we strive for a better future.
