Book Own Movember

  • Publisher : CreateSpace
  • Release : 2014-12-23

  • Pages : 78 pages

Download or read book Own Movember written by Thurman Darby and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-12-23 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Things have never been worse for the "boy face"-the unfortunate souls unable to grow adequate facial hair. Facial hair has long been associated with wisdom, virility, and above all, manliness. A full beard is one of the clearest indications of healthy testosterone levels in the body; which is wired into men's and women's brains as being a highly desirable trait. If that isn't bad enough, every November has become an annual reminder of the boy face's ineptitude. "Movember"-the annual event where men grow moustaches to raise money for men's health issues-has grown from local fundraiser to worldwide phenomenon in less than a decade. Unfortunately, a quirky, clever way to bring about much needed attention to men's health has transformed into an annual referendum on manliness. During Movember, the boy face gets chastised for being uncharitable at best and unmanly at worst. I had heard a million times from doctors that facial hair is dictated by genetics and that it was pointless to try and fight my genes. I was told I should be thankful that I didn't have to shave every day! Well, I wasn't willing to accept those answers or my genetic facial follicle growing deficiencies. There had to be a way to overcome my genetics and to turn the odds in my favour. I knew I was never going to be confused for a member of ZZ Top or Duck Dynasty, but I desperately wanted to grow a real beard. This book documents my journey from Movember chump to champ. I'll give you some background as to why some men are able to grow a beard by lunch and why some can only manage a few whiskers. I'll discuss the latest research showing not only what facial hair projects to other men (and the opposite sex), but how it affects a man's perception of himself. Then I'll get to the good stuff. I'll discuss all the methods proven to help men grow more facial hair. This includes what I used (and didn't use) to dramatically increase my facial hair growth in less than a year.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume is the fifth in the series of yearbooks with the title Globalistics and Globalization Studies. The subtitle of the present volume is Global Transformations and Global Future. We become more and more accustomed to think globally and to see global processes. And our future can all means be global. However, is this statement justified? Indeed, in recent years, many have begun to claim that globalization has stalled, that we are rather dealing with the process of anti-globalization. Will not we find ourselves at some point again in an edifice spanning across the globe, but divided into national apartments, separated by walls of high tariffs and mutual suspicion? Of course, some setbacks are always possible, because the process of globalization cannot develop smoothly. It is a process which is itself emerging from contradictions and is shaped by a new contradiction. They often go much further than underlying systemic changes allow. They break forward, as the vanguard of a victorious army, and then often meet resistance of various social and political forces and may suddenly start to roll back just at the moment when everyone expects their further offensive. We believe that this is what is happening with globalization at present. The yearbook will be interesting to a wide range of researchers, teachers, students and all those who are concerned about global issues.

Book How To Raise A Boy

Download or read book How To Raise A Boy written by Michael C. Reichert and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2020-07-21 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a time when many boys are in crisis, a much-needed roadmap for helping boys grow into strong and compassionate men Over the past two decades there has been an explosion of new studies that have expanded our knowledge of how boys think and feel. In How to Raise a Boy, psychologist Michael Reichert draws on his decades of research to challenge age-old conventions about how boys become men. Reichert explains how the paradigms about boys needing to be stoic and "man like" can actually cause them to shut down, leading to anger, isolation, and disrespectful or even destructive behaviors. The key to changing the culture lies in how parents, educators, and mentors help boys develop socially and emotionally. Reichert offers readers step-by-step guidance in doing just this by: Listening and observing, without judgment, so that boys know they're being heard. Helping them develop strong connections with teachers, coaches, and other role models Encouraging them to talk about their feelings about the opposite sex and stressing the importance of respecting women Letting them know that they don't have to "be a man" or "suck it up," when they are experiencing physical or emotional pain. Featuring the latest insights from psychology and neuroscience, How to Raise a Boy will help those who care for young boys and teenagers build a boyhood that will enable them to grow into confident, accomplished and kind men.
